indelible Posted April 1, 2013 Report Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) Hi all been lurking on here for a little while and thought i should post up my project sold my daily 300+kw jzx100 and bought a more sensible daily , but found it wasnt enough to satisfy me so a project car was decided . as i wanted something light after the jzx100(only downfall they are a bit heavy) was looking at ra/ta celica's(so i could stay with a 1jz) , then moved to old corollas initailly ke20's ect when i found this ke30 and bought it. it was recently resprayed but has a few areas that need re doing but no rust that i can find few pics at home and few pics form previous owners that i was able to get hold of apparently it used to have a v8 in it so tunnel has been made larger which left me with bulk room for engine/gearbox combo's looked at different conversions for a while then decided s14 sr20det was the best choice to still be able to register with most potential reasoning= newish engine. factory rwd 2lt turbo with lots of cheap aftermarket support what you guys think? will update what i've don't so far and where i'm up to soon cheers,Matt Edited April 1, 2013 by indelible Quote
indelible Posted April 1, 2013 Author Report Posted April 1, 2013 so then i bought a s14 sr20det and rb20 gearbox + sr20 bellhousing engine arrived then pulled old engine out and gave it away for free as it had a bottom end knock i was told(never bothered to start it as had flat battery too) then cleaned up the sr20 and found it had 2 warrenty seals one on block and one on head so looks to be rebuilt at some point then pulled apart the rb box and fitted the sr bellhousing and cleaned it up and painted it Quote
indelible Posted April 1, 2013 Author Report Posted April 1, 2013 next i dummy fit the engine and decided it was best to cut the engine mounts off the crossmember and start from scratch as they looked to have been messed with and didnt trst them with silicone everwhere ended up doing similar to other rollaclub members ke sr20 engine mounts once i hade these plates tacked in i put motor in and got it to sit where i wanted +dummied up some mounts out of cardboardas then had them plasma cut then bent them up at work and tacked them into position using some vibratechnics rubber mounts for an escort it think as they were nice and thin sump clearance and shifter hole (only so large from dodgey hole in it before) engine in position then started making gearbox crossmember out of 50x25x3 rhs Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 1, 2013 Report Posted April 1, 2013 Thats a tidy little 2 door. Carlos (BUZ440) on here had one with an SR20 and it was pretty (a lot) nuts. Quote
indelible Posted April 1, 2013 Author Report Posted April 1, 2013 next i wanted to make my own turbo manifold for a gt3076r spec turbo i had sitting around gathering dust form my jzx100 so went and visited the guy who had previously made my turbo manifolds for me and got some bits to start my own out of 32nb shc40 mild steel steam pipe then began making it once i had worked out the position i wanted the turbo to sit and made a jig runner by runner getting there all 4 runners done then cut all runners of to make wastegate outlet then got it professionally tig welded up for a better appearance and piece of mind reliability wise now its getting ceramic coated and thats where i'm up to currently Quote

indelible Posted April 1, 2013 Author Report Posted April 1, 2013 fitted manifold while tacked together to see how turbo sat , which left planty of clearance for dump pipe and external gate Quote
BUZ440 Posted April 1, 2013 Report Posted April 1, 2013 good to see some hands on work, looks good mate Quote

Doogs Posted April 1, 2013 Report Posted April 1, 2013 Love your work mate, looking good. Will the ex-gate be plumbed in for rego or will it no longer be a street car? Quote
altezzaclub Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Nice work- The engine mounts look great, they turned out very well, and the inlet manifold is stunning. Quote
indelible Posted April 2, 2013 Author Report Posted April 2, 2013 thanks guys , doogs the gate pipe will be made with v band flanges to plumb back or go atmo easily. don't think the engine mounts will bend/break any time soon as they are 5mm steel hahahaha Quote
Doogs Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 thanks guys , doogs the gate pipe will be made with v band flanges to plumb back or go atmo easily. don't think the engine mounts will bend/break any time soon as they are 5mm steel hahahaha Awesome, I love the idea of a screamer on the street but I don't think the boys in blue share that opinion! :fuzz: Quote
indelible Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 well i ran a screamer on my jzx100 for about 2 years without any problems but had the option of plumbing it back if i got in trouble anyway Quote
