Hey I'm in wa Perth looking to upgrade to a 5spd t50 gearbox, can't find any, anyone know local or anyone who has one? 

Upgrade? ....for what car/engine?

Essentially there are 3 types of T50 box. Which one you use is dependent primarily on the engine you will be using, and then what car it will be installed in

Pretty sure, you're wanting a K50 not a T50. They are also becoming quite hard to find for a good price.

That's ok. You are allowed to be new!  

A K50 is the five speed that came factory behind later K engined cars. It uses a cable clutch. T50's were fitted to 70's Celica's, T18's and AE71/AE86's. All of these use a hydraulic clutch slave  

There was a pretty rare T50 that came with a K engine bell housing, but no need to go there

if a k50 bolts on easier I'm happy, as long as she sounds sweet doing 100 on the highway 

The 5th gear drops the revs by 300rpm at 100kph, so it helps a little but not much.

Your other options are a 41. diff instead of a 4.3, not sure which you have, or taller tyres.

The 3K lacks the power to pull much of a higher gear.

A good upgrade might be a 4k and a 5 speed from a ke70. Few more horse powers.

The only direct swap k50 is from a kp61 starlet. The shifter comes out in the correct spot on a ke2/3 and the bolt spacing on the rubber mount the same.   ke7 k50 means youll need to cut the tunnel back to clear the shifter and slot the mount bolt holes. (Although I may be confusing myself with t50 mounts)

If you can source the tail housing and shifter from a kp61 it will swap onto the ke7 box.
