Fayt Posted June 4, 2006 Report Share Posted June 4, 2006 well after everyone involved started telling people the word has spread like wildfire, 100's of people know about it now and we have had reports of people seeing the car before and after the crash happened, and even people talking to the driver before the crash but we still havent found the person who was driving the civic we have found the civic that hit nick, it was found burnt out on Mary's Hope Road in Rosetta and it had stolen number plates on the car we do have a rego number to investigate where a lady reported a car with no headlights driving on the road that night, so we are gonna chase down the rego number and see if we have a match fingers crossed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Taz_Rx Posted June 4, 2006 Report Share Posted June 4, 2006 not looking good then sorry to hear dude. the car was obviously stolen, the plates were off another car, so tracking the owner isn't going to get you anywere. thats why it was being driven with no regard for the road laws or other road users and why they did a runner. they obviously weren't going to hang around and wait for the police in a stolen car!!!!!!!! your best bet is going to be trying to find out some more info from the people who saw it driving round befor the crash, espeacially the people who were talking to the driver> did they know him!!!!!!!! if so, they might not want to rat out a friend, but if they mix in the same sort of circles if you offer them some sort of "finanial incouragement" they might roll over pretty quick!!! Taz_Rx Posted June 5, 2006 Report Share Posted June 5, 2006 hit and run is a criminal offence. therefor if you can find the guy who hit you, and have him charged, its then very easy to sue him for damages. f@$ked up thing about our justice system is that he can legally pay 5 cents a week to re-pay it, as long as he makes regular payments!!!! finding them is the first bit though!!! then you gotta prove it!!!! Fayt Posted June 5, 2006 Report Share Posted June 5, 2006 yeah we can't do anything more until we find out who did it, we thought about if the car was stolen, and yes, it is a possibility, but there's always the chance that the driver was drunk and when he hit nick he drove off and then stole someones number plates, then burnt out the car to make it look like it was stolen car, since the civic was obviously fukd anyway who would want it, but no one knows yet so i'll give an update when i get more info on the situation Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It saddens me to find that not only someone would do this, the hit and run, and leave the driver of the car and the car when it was quite apparent that he'd left the car in a bad state. Letalone the fact he'd want to drive a Civic anyway. Simple way to check who owned the car before the fake plates were put on would be to search the engine or chassis number of the Civic for the licence plates. Surely if this is not a public resource in Tasmania the police would have access to it... surely.. Good luck, and lets hope Karma catches up with the bastard. Fayt Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 well the number plates didnt match, because they were stolen, the police have marked the civic as a "suspected stolen car" because no claim has been made to police of a civic being stolen, so we just don't know if the car was a steal or it was jst the number plates we are currently chasing chassis numbers to see if we can get anyone but i havent heard any more on the masince the word got around we have had people coming saying that they have seen the people before and after the crash butn no one knew them, apparently they were trying to score cigarettes off people and they appeared to be drunk Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
