Corolla_Kid Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 My dad did his recently. He used a high-temp paint for the centres from autobarn and then polished the lip using the bench grinder. Quote
Raven Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Paint strip 'em, polish 'em, clear coat it to keep a nice finish if you decide to polish them, otherwise paint the centre's (what I'm gonna do on my globes), polish the outer lip. :D Quote
casey Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 yea thats my plan i don't want to clear coat the polished parts cause it goes shit house Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I havent got a digital camera sorry mate. But he used SP-997 which is a VHT code. Its called nu-cast or something like that. They come up alright though. Quote
jamesrolla Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 when i did mine, i painted down in between the spokes and the centre black and then polished the top of the spokes and the rim looks pretty good Quote

Raven Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 I'm gonna paint the centre of my globes silver and polish the outer lip for now. Quote

Raven Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 100 bucks for the set is pretty good. Can't complain with that. Just a pity you can't use them on your car :D Quote
casey Posted September 21, 2006 Author Report Posted September 21, 2006 oh well I'm gonna get them redrilled, mabey in the other position so if i get a ke10 or 20 they will fit it aswell (asuming cortina pcd if the same) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 $100 for the spitty is pretty good. don'e paint the whole wheel gold, they will look like shite, just do the bit thats originally painted. heres a tip for painting with with bits you want to leave raw (polished) espeacially hotwires: around the lip and over the top of the spokes smear the metal with just enough GREASE to cover it, don't go over the top with it. then paint the areas you want painted, let it dry properly, and then wipe the grease off with a rag. basically the grease just works like masking (like masking tape when painting house walls etc.) as the paint does not dry or stick to the grease!! :D Quote
