Jordan Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Was out dirt sliding in the KE55 coupe, and the cluch cable decided to give up and snap. -Has anyone replaced one? -Does anyne in Adelaide have a spare one? -How much effort is involved (keeping in mind this car cost $50, but runs like a banshee and would like to keep it as a thrasher.) Cheers Jordan Quote
Raven Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Go to U-Pull-It and grab a cable. The cable's are a piece of piss to replace so remove the clip holding the cable in under the bonnet and get your arse up under the dash and unhook the cable :D Quote
Jordan Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 (edited) I had a feeling that it would end up being a u-pull-it affair Cheers Jordan P.S: driving from Lobathal down gorge road with no clutch is fun and the gear box does love it :D Edited September 22, 2006 by Jordan Quote

love ke70 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 only having to stop would be fun, but even then you can restart with it in first no worries clutchless gear changing is rather simple in a k50, just gotta match the revs anywho, shouldnt be too bad to fix the only trouble i had (don't know if this is the same on earlier models as mine was a ke70) but getting the bush back thru the bracket on the gearbox end of things can be an ass of a job... i used a little screw driver to gently encourage it through g/l mate :P Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 lhd ones are a pain in the ass!!! you got 2 pulleys before it comes out on the right side of the firewall Quote
Jordan Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 yeah I had to stall it and then start it in first. Changing up gears is fine, just changing back while in the twisties was a little interesting. Will be tackeling the problem this weekend Jordan Quote
love ke70 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 shouldnt be too bad, just pop her outta gear, blip the throttle to above hte revs you would be doin once in the gear you wanna go down to then hold it against the synchros and theyll slot in its interesting in mine going into second as the synchro is almost fubbared totally :( Quote

michiel Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 Yep, I just replaced the one on my KE15 (had to have a new one made as well, pretty expensive) and spent a while upside down under the dash... but basically it's a simple job! Quote
Jordan Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 went out to U-Pull-It on the weekend and there were no KE clutch cables, they'd all been pinched or they were auto's Dam it Jordan Quote
cuzzo Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 I might have a ke30 one if you want it. Just pay postage and you can have it. I'm in NSW Quote
