  2. hey guys havent updated here for a while. i have now filled the diff, bleed the brakes and little things like that to make it move. i then found out the front seal on the diff was gone. so i pulled that apart and fixed the seal.I'm thinking about making a fan shroud for my electric fan that i have. its currently just put in to the radiator. i was thinking of making a foam mold then fiberglassing the mold. does any one see any problems with this? i was thinking some thing along these lines. its a very quick drawing but its just to show my idea of it. also since i can get it out the shed i have started doing the body work. done some small spots on the hatch. and then tonight moved it out on the gravel and spent an hour or two sanding all the bog out off the car with a flapper wheel on it. also started on knocking out one of the dents. what is the easyist way to fix this rust? cheers guys
  3. Forgot to post this. Short video of the first start. Coming straight out of the extractors with a really ruff tune. Will make up a new exhaust when I'm back in adelaide and then tune it spot on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6JvjIH7foA
  4. The Chrome paint isn't the greatest stuff. It doesn't really come out as you would expect. You could give it a go but every time I have used it I was pretty let down by it.
  5. how will i know if i have them around the wrong way? i think how i have it now is right but I'm probably wrong
  6. ohhhh so i better get me research on cheers mate
  7. so i have these around the wrong way or am i missing some thing?
  8. got the carbie on today. starting to get some where got a question about the fuel lines though am i right? hopefully have it running tomorrow night
  9. i don't think I'm going to bother for now i think it would crate turbulence making the air move faster?
  10. isnt that a old hot rodders trick makes more power or some thing?
  11. got alot done today. started off with cutting the hotbox of the inlet manifold. i then sand blasted it with a fine glass bead. pulled the studs out of it and had to make up some longer studs out of threaded rod. went from this to.. this. got the hack saw out and cut the heatbox off. grinded it wiht the dremel. come up pretty nice after a sand blast machined these up out of stainless steel for head studs test fitted the carbie on the manifold did all the helicoils in the head lock tighted the studs in. had to grind the flanges for the extractors not to bad though. going to wait for he lock tight to fully set then will be doing them right up and then putting the carbie on tomorrow. hopefully it will be running again tomorrow tune in soon for more updates cheers guys
  12. If I was to install the stock air filter is there and disadvantages to have it or doesn't it really matter to much?
  13. Diff is now fully done primed and painted. It's back in the car now there's quite abut of play in it I don't know if it's any thing to worry about but soon find out. Primed I think o like it matt black then gloss Gloss black All put together and painted Painted most things. I have a sway bar kit for the rear but I went to put it back together and I think the wedges are missing and the u bolts are bent it's a selby sway bar. I googled about them but found nothing can any one help mr with this SLO it shouldn't be a big deal they are top not h execpt that. Thanks for the warning about that. What does it take to put the orginal air cleaner back on the the 32/36 weber? Cheers chris
  14. I had a quick look at it the other day from what I can remember it does. I should probably check that. Why would that be?
  15. been busy lately. diff is all clean and back together ready to go in after giving it a coat of paint. cleaned it and all the bolts, u bolts and mounting plates and gave them all a paint. my carbie has arrived with the adapter plate. just need to do the helicoils again and go pick up some studs for the head then it will be moving again haven't update lately so kinda have a photo dump. ohh also have knocked out some small dents and what not no pics to have to show. bearings and collars of axle ready for new ones before brakes being cleaned after pressing the bearings on then collar. the collar proved to be a pain in the arse. it bent the tube and hardly moved so tried many different ways nothing. finally decided to mill a hole through two plates of 30mm thick still then do it that way, worked a treat. cleaned the diff center out then let it dry over night filled it with oil was smooth as has some play in it but don't think it will be that big a deal. assembled and cleaned ready to be painted new carbie and air filter should be running by the end of the week hopefully cheers chris
  16. got my extractors yesterday thanks SLO-030 they look great one thing thou the flange in the middle isnt flush with the two out side ones. it will get pulled in though. i also have a problem with the head every hole has a heli-thread but they are done wrong. so going to redo them i guess then put studs in not use bolts.should get my carbie end of this week so should be running next weekend if all goes to plan. cheers chris
  17. Nice car dude, looks so good
  18. okay cheers man.
  19. okay cheers do i just take it in to them and they use it as a template? doors not that bad wiht bog its only probely 3mm should be able to knock it out from behind any way. rather do that then hunt down a panel van door haha
  20. finally had a night off from work or a night where i didnt have some thing on. pulled the diff back out to get ready to give it a good clean out, and then assemble it. once assembled ill be painting it probelly a really dark grey. also does any one know where the get the brake like that connects from the hard line to the diff (see picture below) it would be nice it it was a braided brake line. also got some questions about powdercoating. is it going to be cheaper to taking in a heap of parts and get them all done at once or is it going to cost about the same to take in some one day then the rest another? whats the colour selection like? and whats it like price wise? cheers guys I'm hoping to have a bunch of parts in by half way though next month to get things rolling quick
  21. thought i would drag this off my ae86dc thread.bit of a update some parts have arrived. i have now got a new diff center pretty happy with it not bad for 50 bucks, theres abit of play in it but will fix that before it goes in. also got new manifold its only the stock one but picking up a 32/32 weber hopefully this week with adopter plate. also been checking out the body work done by the previous owner. in patches its up to almost 1cm thick whats going to be fun. also have almost finished my front left quarter panel. new parts left rear quarter is badly caved in with alot of bog driver door lots of bog in that to thickest part of bog 1 cm thick going to be great fun sanding all that bog out and fixing it properly thanks guys more up dates really soon.also wiht a new up date fixed my brakes up today grinded the edges with the dremel. they now sit flush and aren't as hacked. hopefully replace them later on. also started putting the diff back together. all fitting okay so far. should have this thing running in the next couple of weeks. also looking for a new sump if any one can help out with it. should have up some more updates pretty soon. cheers guys
  22. hey guys another problem with my ke. the last owner did a rear brake swap. they have been hit with the oxy welder to make them fit. I'm kinda confused what to do, do i clean it up and do it to a have decent job or look for new ones. also if i clean it up the hole wiht the red circle around will that course my diff to leak in to the braks and then out of the brakes. or do the seals keep any oil from going in to the brakes. sorry if this is a stupid question. cheers chris
  23. Before you start flaming I have searched the forums and google. I'm looking for brand new headers/extractors I'm looking for more of the 4-2-1's but the 4 in to ones if good would be okay.this is also for a 4k. Who makes them? Where can I get them? Any online shops? Cheers chris
  24. okay bit of an update been working on the front quarter panel trying to get that straight. coming up pretty well, dents coming out pretty well. I'm trying to get it as straight as i can with out much body filler. couple of pics bit hard to show the dents and what not but better then nothing. theres two biggish dents on the flares. a long channel kinda dent off to the right of the guard and all the fronts messed up both popped out like this, just need a little bit of filler to get it smooth how it looks at the moment more updates later cheers guys
