Aren't all rx7 diffs independent rear end ?

Hey John. Good diff upgrade is mazda RX3 diff. 10mm longer than a KE10 diff, same 4x110 stud pattern and has slightly bigger drums on the rear not that it makes much difference but the main difference is theres LSD centres available for it. You can go down the R31/hilux way but they are a lot heavier and require shortening, but are also a lot stronger again. I have an RX3 diff to bolt into a KE1x series car... The LSD centre went walk about to a mate a while back and since then its sat around. I took it out because the car coped a 2L 3sge beams... and it would have blown the diff to bits, so I went down the Hilux LSD billet axled disc brake diff... Supra W box is a lot shorter and will solve the problem... but I really wanted to keep the 6 speed box haha

Hmmm well. I've put the gearbox in the car and well.... :bash: It fits...... but its behind the rib which is smack in the middle of the bracing across the floor and I'm not keen to cut that out unless I'm 100% sure the things going to get engineered. I won't be working on it anymore for about 12 weeks as I have my HSC to finish off. Its already taken enough time :hmm: See you guys in 12 weeks with an update!

Copying this, obviously it will be slightly different but very similar. Ford BA engine mounts. I'm just waiting for my engine mounts, gearboxmount and a few other goodies and then I can get stuck into it again. Hopefully have it all mounted by the end of the week.

it's a shame I can't legally drive the car for another 3 years.. Stupid engine conversion rule for P platers :(

coolest part is it will be daily driven by my mum hahahahah! I was going to put my 12a PP motor into it, but I forgot mum was going to drive it haha!

Thanks guys. Just waiting on a gearbox mount and ford BA engine mounts now. I got a 180sx crashed shell coming today from a mate for the transmission tunnel. School holidays are nearly over and that means so is Corolla'ing. I've gotta forget about the corolla for a about 13 weeks then I can get stuck into it. Schools more important! But I will still be buying and updating occasionally. I want the engine and gearbox mounted into the car before I go back, then some of my friends are going to finish it off for me. They will be mainly doing simple stuff but time consuming stuff... boxing the firewall, swapping the tunnel in, tailshafts, getting the rack connected.. stuff like that :)

So how do you get it registered... Can't register a 12a rota into a ke1x series?

Haha Buy rubbish car, Spend 3 months in garage panel beating it and getting it smooth, paint it, attempt to fit engine and end up scratching it probably, repaint car.. rebuild engine.. Will go on forever! Yeah, that's the plan. I'll cut the sump a little and baffle it, then I'll get a friend to roll me a few tube bars and I'll make an underslung brace the braces up the rails and also acts as a sump guard and crossmember guard.

The drivers side of the firewall wasn't the best, I wasn't happy with it so I thought I might as well redo it whilst I'm here. it will all look standard, bar the ugly box being cut into it. I'm going to try make it as best looking as I can because honestly I didn't want to cut the wall and I didn't think I would need to until I got the engine and tried putting it in. I thought I'd get away with it.... dreaming haha!

Shortened cross member for KE10 Sitting in its new home Should be able to fit a decent exhaust into it! Sumps abit of a worry but hopefully it won't get ripped off. Mounts have been made but first half of the day went to cutting more of the firewall out because it just wasn't sitting right and the firewall was rooted anyway so might as well start over. Somebody added a brake booster in about 1990..... and they just hacked and stick welded it in.

I've done a few calculators... they reckon it can pull a low 12, I highly doubt it.

Yeah theres two BEAMS KE10's in Sydney, that ones not finished yet. Its still got a lot to do, but so do I.

Basically he told me rubbish. Its all good, I have sourced another engine in Syndey 30 minutes from home that I will be viewing tomorrow morning and hopefully bringing home.

I plan on re doing the grille with a frame, basically just with chrome strips on the bottum and top to give it a more finished look. I'm stuck with the engine. Not sure what to do anymore.
