it's just a better way to keep the compression to a more realistic level. more squish area means better detonation resistance. my motor pings really badly under 1500rpm because of it no. if you re-register a modified car in another state, you need to get it engineered to pass the laws of the new home state. driving a car interstate is a bit of legal grey area, i don't have a definite answer for you because i've heard lots of stories and never bothered to look it up for myself. theoretically your engineering cert SHOULD cover you from defects, because the car is still registered in the state where it is legal
-
basically i ported the CCs out too large and reduced squish area, i would have been better to keep more of the stock shape and just make them a bit deeper. look at the pics of stewart's head and do exactly that, his porting is awesome

have a search, we have had the discussion before

street machine is a heap of garbage these days. it's all just elite trailer queen shit that is built to a level which is so unrealistic, it's a pathetic and shameful way to ruin a motor vehicle that's fine if that's what you're into, but it's called STREET machine, i want to see cars that people can drive on the STREET i questioned seddo about this and he basically told me it's like this because elite cars make money and that's all he cares about and i could shove my opinion up my ass. and that was the last issue i ever bought f@$k geoff seddon and f@$k street machine (ps: 6.4 down the 1/8th is a pessimistic flat 10, i reckon that thing could break into high 9s with little to no effort. that's f@$king awesome for a ke15)

the original faq was simply compiled by me from various sources, the faq up here has been contributed to by many many more people. don't forget to thank them too, credit where credit's due notice it's also in wiki format, so anyone can sign up and write an article. feel free to contribute yourself :S i suck at bogging and i can't weld, so no use me contributing to bodywork

pointless argument. 1300cc pushrod non-crossflow is worse than 1800cc pushrod crossflow. but they're both shithouse compared to what you can get these days. the puerto ricans just use 3T-Cs cos that's all they have. they never got twincam heads, though you'd think for the amount of money they're spending on the rest of the car, the cost of importing a 2T-G head and associated parts would be worth it?

i got all mine on ebay, i had to bring them over from england and america. try amazon.com as well
-
they were, so you're welcome around here anytime :S it's just alot of people are "all talk" about building 1uz-fe ke70s, we've heard it enough times that it becomes a pipe dream, because it would be a VERY hard project to do with a good proper result but honestly man, if you're going to do it, i for one would LOVE to see a corolla taken to that extreme. you'd pave the way for others to build similar cars, and modifying corollas is what we're all about, right? as an idea, google for "puerto rico piston team" and have a look at the half-chassis ke70s those guys have running 8 and 7 second quarter miles, with crappy old 3T-C pushrod motors which have turbo, nos, and efi. that's the kind of body you're going to have to build, if not something better and stronger

stewart was one of the main influences i had when i ported my own head as well. and i read a massive crapton of david vizard books. i didn't do a bad job, like it runs and goes hard. i could have done the chambers alot better tho

GRIMAS was for sale about 12-18 months ago. purple 13bt ke20, does phat wheelstands and runs 9s. it's my favorite drag car the dude wanted $35k for it. now it's a great piece of machinery, but seriously you could build two of them for that price i think i helped talk the owner into keeping it anway ^_^
-
goodo mate, i hope you do it and it works out alright. let us know how you go with it
-
you're not missing out on much, maybe alot of mountain dew and nights spent arguing on forums about different brands of processors, videocards, etc which in reality are like comparing apples and oranges
-
yeah, your manual should have a way to assemble the timing belt from scratch. something like turn the engine to a certain spot (usually tdc on cylinder one), then turn the cam to a certain spot, and install the belt that way if you're leaving the rest of the motor stock, just get it shaved and new stock springs. if you want it to breathe a bit better, get 3 angle valve seats and some port work, but this costs money
-
that's a pretty good price for a 9 second car
-
even an extra 256mb would improve things out of sight windows me is wierd. it's known as "windows mistake" in the industry. some people have nothing but constant trouble with it, and then you find computers where it runs more stable than even windows 2000. there's no pattern i have found, it just seems to be random. so if it's working for you, stick with it sick mate sick, subwoofer

New Licences For 4WD Owners
Super Jamie replied to wilson_610's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
there are alot of drivers out there, full stop, who have little spacial conception around them i see old women all the time, in some piss tiny little car with huge windows and great visibility, with a massive ding in the hatch because they've reversed into a pole. THOSE people should be made to do to a specific license, not just anyone who buys a certain type of car what about a rwd ford territory? that's a large heavy raised vehicle but isn't a 4x4, should you need a special license for that? it's essentially a falcon with a lift kit and big tyres anyway. should you be made to have a license to drive a falcon? put a family of people and a boot full of holiday gear and luggage in a BA falcon and you have a car that weighs over 2 tonnes. do the same to a crappy old kingswood and you'd probably just brake 1600kg. nobody is going to argue the falcon is a safer car, it's got huge brakes and crumple zones and airbags and non-frayed non-30-yearold seatbelts. but under your weight scheme, you should need a special license to take your family on holiday in your new safe family car, but any old person can jump in the old kingswood and drive across the country in it as for braking distances. hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahah. no wait, i'll say it again, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! compare a little 710kg drum brake ke10 (or f@$k even a disc brake ke25) to ANY 4x4 regardless of abs or age, and i'll bet us corolla drivers would be left with egg on our face 4x4 isn't the issue. weight isn't the issue. unsafe cars and unsafe drivers are the issue -
well, a 4k you can usually get for cheap or free, a 5k is worth a few hundred dollars at least. it really depends how much you want to spend and how much cash, time effort you want to put into it from a modification standpoint, a 5k is better than a 4k, it's got more torque and you don't have to rev it as hard to make power, but a 4k isn't a crap engine as far as K motors go either. both respond well to basic mods like extractors, cam and compression, but you'll need to get fiddly with changing the 5k to solid lifters if you change the cam, which you can read about in the faq if i were you, i would find something you don't have to rebuild, and just drop that in your car :S
-
tiger, get 512mb ram, the rest of the system is fine. i hope to god you're not still on windows 98
-
well, we can only help you as much as you help us. engineers aren't stupid, there is a reason you're getting knocked back don't worry about being "all talk". there is a maassive difference between saying "i am going to build the twin turbo lexus v8 ke70 driftz0r it will PWN ALL even tho i have never even got wheelspin with my stock 4k" and saying "i am calling engineers to enquire about the legality of this engine into this car, what say you, fellow sensible forum posters?" you could probably get a list of certified signatories from vic transport or whatever they're called down there. get that list, and start calling everyone in your area, then in the state

that's not good stock is supposed to be 172psi. the fact they're down isn't so bad, the fact you have 20psi variance between cylinders is terrible. usually you want about half that to consider an engine borderline healthy squirt some oil down each bore, and test them again. if they stay the same, then it's the valve stems or the valve seats. if they get better, then the bottom end is leaking compression. throw the engine away and find a cheap/free replacement or rebuild it with new rings, though that may prove to be a bigger project than intended if you need new pistons or to oversize your bores, and you can't really tell until it's all apart and measured. personally, i wouldn't bother rebuilding a 3k, there's so much more potential in a 4k

what do you want to do? even the law has its' limits
-
i have like, an xp1700 and er, an epox 8k3a motherboard? i think. 512mb ddr, but its only slow ram. i have a 128mb geforce of some description. 200gb to store my music, and an sblive of some kind cos onboard sound is horrendous i have no idea how many watts my power supply is, or hard drive buffers or speed, or the chipset on my pci sata card. but it's fast enough for nes/snes/n64/psx emulation, msn, torrents, photos, and mp3s, which is pretty much all i use my pc for these days anyway :S

we've had this discussion before. you're really going to have to either full-cage the car, or tube frame it like a sports sedan. i've seen an ae86 with a pretty mad rb25det and it had such terrible body flex the hatch would flap around under power. not cool that's also a metric crapton of power for such a light car. seriously, if you can't drift a ke70 with a stock sr20det (which is FAR more within the torque limits of the monocoque body structure), you need to learn to drive better. amateur dudes out there, just like you and me, are throwing around s13s with just manual ca18dets and having HEAPS of fun i think it's a complete waste of time. if you want to drift a ke70, use a better suited engine. if you want to drive a 1uz-fe, use a better suited car

amuse me and do a compression test on each cylinder
