  1. this thread is so cool :rocknroll:
  2. try a hotrod or customs shop, you'll probably have to import something from america
  3. excellent, you have sufficently confused me about suspension to last the next 5 years :y: i understand what you're saying tho. i once read a magazine test where they put a stock N14 pulsar around a track a few times, then put in lowered springs and it actually went slower and handled worse, just looked better super research there slapper :rocknroll: all off-the-shelf springs are crap compared to customs. the reason people replace their shocks soon after putting ANY lowered spring in is that they're running crappy old stock shocks with lowered springs, which you realistically shouldn't do, but it's alright for cars that are only lowered a little bit (40mm or less). any more than that and you really should change to short stroke shocks and have your struts shortened to suit the new suspension travel
  4. hahaha real men drive corollas, i'll pay that :rocknroll: glad to have you aboard :P
  5. nulon carb cleaner also smells quite fruity, and doubles as a somewhat attractive cologne (caution: do not apply to bare skin)
  6. i just broke my personal record and got 1 minute 31. damn, this is surprisingly more fun than it sounds :)
  7. cafee's engine was fine. it spun a bit more freely lol, but it's still going
  8. i can hold my breath for 1 minute 21. we should all practice that more often :)
  9. seriously dude who cares, you can't prove anything and even if you could, what's it going to get you? nothing. someone fixed your car for free so you've broken even anyway. quit complaining about a spot of bad luck, learn from the experience and get on with the rest of the project
  10. i'd suggest calling autometer. either something's hooked up wrong (bad earth, interference from tach signal) or you've got a faulty dial
  11. give me a coule of years at tafe, a lathe and some billet. i'll do it. i don't have time, space or money for any right now
  12. the accelerator cables, especially in ke30s nowadays, are prone to jamming. there's an article in the old faq about it, have a read cafee's ke30 throttle jammed open one day. he braked, locked the fronts and the rears continued to push the car. clutched in and his monster tach flicked to 10500rpm before he killed the ignition. people stuck their heads out of shops and were looking for the motorbike accident :)
  13. given enough time and money, i don't doubt that any one of us could do the same
  14. exactly right. there is no "right" or "wrong" in suspension. there is no "best" spring rate or swaybar. it's all dependant on the vehicle size, shape, weight, and weight balance, as well as what other modifications have been done to the other parts of the suspension and to the vehicle itself and the most important factor is the driver, and their preferred method of handling. two drivers with very different driving styles and suspension setups can still maintain very close times around the same circuit this is what makes class racing so exciting. from wrc, formula 1, v8 supercars, etc right down to aussie legends, all the cars are more or less equally equipped power-wise, it's down to driver skill and suspension setup we are simply telling you what we have tried and have found works for us, and what we have found to be less desireable
  15. he may have bumped them out of adjustment playing around with the cap. generally "experts" do things like this, then have no idea how to fix things when they break. if he had half a clue what he was looking at, he wouldn't have had to take the cap off at all
  16. i like the toy at the back ^_^ your car owns, so tidy. good idea to take as many pics as you can
  17. hey oh i wasn't criticising you or anything, take all the photos you like :D
  18. it's a known phenomenon that overall global climate change happens in 50-150 year cycles. we've come here in the last 100-odd years, settled too far inland, now it's getting all hot and the water's running out there, and we wonder why i think this year is just particularly hot, and likely will be for the next 50 years. so get used to it :D
  19. well judged :D peak power on stock cam is 6000rpm
