What about an older sort of Hilux? They tend to go for not too much.

Out of interest, which photo of mumblezz are we using?

I don't think there are any swap meets in Brisbane itself (not that I know of anyway) but there's a really big one in Toowoomba once a year, can't remember when though. Also there's another big one at Nanango once a year, but that's mainly old Fords and Holdens.

WE HAVE TO HAVE MUMBLEZZ IN OUR CALENDAR!!! Can't we have one extra? You know, like have January 2006 too? Or maybe a mid year special? Or maybe regular Rollaclubbers get priority

I owe you money. How do I give you money? How much do I owe you?

Axles are out, diff center is out (oooh sparkly!), I LOVE HAVING THE CORRECT TOOLS (referring rather specifically to Mr Dixon's slide hammer ). Couldn't find 12mm spanners so bought 2 more, can't ever have enough 12mm spanners when you own a Corolla :D Bringing center to Diff Lapping tomorrow, hopefully they'll sort it out and Hal will be on the road again soon!

Wiring finished, instruments in car, engine starts so I'm hoping everything is good. Always a worry when you more or less finish putting the car back together and you still have a whole bunch of assorted bolts, nuts, screws and washers... All that's left to do as far as the cage goes is to redo one of the door trims (race tape fell apart, should clean door trim before putting on race tape), reinforce the electronics compartment (hose clamps keep sliding down the tube, need something more solid), bolt drivers seat in, bolt drivers side intrusion bar in and then put lots of nice soft foam around. Have finished off passenger side, haha, the seat can't really move forward at all due to the side intrusion bar pressing up so hard against it...

Yay for blue thing :D Isn't it nice having a spare car... If everything goes as planned I might come out for a look see. Maybe. Depending on how easily the diff comes out (hmm, seem to have lost all 3 of my 12mm spanners!) and when I'm meant to pick up the other diff...

After a whole days work, the dash is finally back in the car. Jigsaw is my friend, dash has been extensively modified to fit  Angle grinder was also useful :D Virtually all the mounting brakets were cut off, so the dash is only held in the car by 6 nuts along the top and 2 bolts on the bottom now. Now I just have to plug all the wires in and put all the screws back in and the car should start. I hope. Door trims are also back in the car, also taken to extensively with the jigsaw and put back together using race tape. Yay for race tape :) So what's left to do? Plug wires, put instruments back in and screws, put seats in, and car should be startable! Hoping to finish that tonight.

Hahahaa, I love the 2nd photo. "Stay on the tarmac? But why? The dirt is soooooo much more fun!!!"

Well, like the stats say - 80% of injuries or death is to the navigator, so you've just increased your chances of survival dramatically by jumping in the drivers seat

Sounds absolutely awesome Mel  Loved the "almost roll over sequence of thoughts" :D I still remember mine very well, except mine did actually roll over! Isn't it funny how everything kinda becomes slow motion for a bit :) Maybe that's why they say that your life flashes before your eyes before you die (or your mind thinks you're going to die)?

Sponge on stick is your friend when it comes to painting hard to reach bits  Doesn't look flash, in fact it looks rather sad, but at least there's paint on it :D

White is nice for finding things in the car. I'm keeping mine white (or more like brown and whatever other color dirt is in the car). Painting the cage charcoal like virtually everything that isn't white inside the car... Have done about 1/3 of the cage now. Have paint speckles on the insides of the windows, meh it'll scrape off... Or so I keep telling myself  Going to try to finish at least the rear half of the cage tonight. The front half is the harder bit, can't even fit the spray can nozzle between the windscreen and the cage, no idea how I'm going to paint the opposite side of the cage (visible through the windscreen!)

That's a nice suit on Rob there

Oh wow I never imagined it would be so difficult to paint a cage once it is in the car...

I wouldn't mind April, but I'm not fussed.

evil, evil mel!

datgirl = evil. sheesh, trying to take my spot of glory away...

Hmm, I wonder if I'm even allowed to weld brackets to the cage? Should probably check before I go and do something silly  The dash crossmember that supports the dash (that no longer bolts in because of lack of mounting brackets) also supports the steering column, so has to be reasonably well supported...

No pics yet, by the time I got the car into the garage it was about 10pm. Working alone and slowly pulling the car up the hill with a block and tackle in the rain is slow and painful. And then came the fun bit when the car got to the top of the driveway and decided to roll down it a bit earlier than expected, which had me chasing it down the driveway and trying to stick my head into the window to pull on the handbrake, I stopped it about a bees thingy before it hit the wall  And then repeat when it got to the bottom of the driveway, except I didn't stop it in time and it ran into my wall of wheels at the bottom of the driveway... Oops :D Aaaaanyways. As far as a cage goes, yes am happy with it. Haven't looked at it too closely (was dark and wet), but design looks good, welds look alright. The only problem now is how to get the trim back into the car (if you thought you had no space between your main hoop and your rear trim, you should see mine. Plus he's "tied" the cage to the side of the car too so will need to cut trim to fit), my rear windows aren't operatable anymore (can't turn the window winders because cage in way), dash no longer fits (cage in way and original mounting points have been cut off because cage in way). Might have to weld some custom mounts to the cage to remount the dash, don't know yet. Also don't know how to fit original inertia reel seatbelts back in, cage in way. Anyway, apart from all these "putting back together" issues, the cage looks pretty good. It's unpainted so I'd better get something onto it soon before it starts to rust (especially since it got wet in the rain last night) Might be interesting trying to paint it in the car without getting paint everywhere else. Will have to mask off everything else :)

Car is back. And oooooh boy I've got a lot of stuff to get done before I can even start the car again...

Looks like I won't be even septating this weekend. Just got Hal back, and OMG do I have my work cut out for me. Will endevour to get it driveable before next weekend (ICC Khanacross) but I don't like my chances for that either... Lots of cutting, lots of fabricating, lots of painting, lots of rewiring ahead of me I think! And then I have to look at that darn diff... ps: but first I have to figure out how to get it into my garage... This could be interesting.

Heh, thanks  I'm actually surprised that they weren't all that hot!
