  1. Shamry: What sort of Camry? SV21? I've got a white SV21 wagon, very "normal" looking, but it does have a small Rollaclub sticker on the back. Else, if you see a white KE35 Corolla running around with a black bonnet, it's probably me. In fact, I don't know of any other white KE35 Corollas with black bonnets in Brisbane
  2. Mr Revhead: And what's your excuse for not coming karting with us? Don't you know that there are cheap air fares from NZ now?
  3. Hello, welcome, come go karting with us, more is merrier (and cheaper!)
  4. No, I didn't question it. It was my own mistake. Anyway, it's all reassembled and everything now and what can I say... OH THE SERENITY  Just a quiet whirr in the background, an occasional clunk on hard acceleration or deceleration (backlash), no squeeks, no rattles... AWESOME :D Now I just have to get the suspension sorted out... Bottomed out waaaay too many times today...
  5. Register on site. Usually about $20. Details on the MSCC website, do a search on this forum, I've posted the link a few times...
  6. No idea? It was a verbal quote anyway, not a written one.
  7. - Put center in diff. - Put axles back in. - Reassemble rear brakes and bleed and cross fingers and pray that it will work properly this time. - Fill diff with oil - Replace filler plug on diff because current one is shagged - Bring car to engineer to get mod plate for cage put on, and paperwork for mod plate for diff and rear brakes started - Bring car to Pedders to get leaf springs reset so that I have a little more suspension travel
  8. Hmm, Steve tells me the center is distorted from the welding and the gears are a bit worn, but he said it should be a lot better than it was before so I guess that's that!
  9. Woo hoo, diff is ready, going to pick it up now, warm fuzzy feeling here I come! Came up to $66, darn GST... Keep forgetting to add that up...
  10. Geez would I be able to pull myself away from the TV??? Then again, Anna is gone now, no more fun :) Samaire Armstrong rocks  Haha, I must like strange TV characters... First there was Jennifer from Dawsons Creek, then there was Willow from Buffy, now there's Anna from the OC :D edit: And wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee guess what, she goes to the Uni of Arizona, and guess where I'll be at the end of the year??? :)
  11. Haha, green MX5 would probably be Cal, he's constantly sideways - you can tell he used to be an AE86 driver
  12. That's some awesome stuff doug  We have to go for a drive sometime, when Hal's back on the road...
  13. "Sounds like someone's got the case of the Mundays..."
  14. Gosh. I've gone through the WHOLE of today thinking it was Tuesday... And then I was wondering why the OC wasn't on yet. And then I looked at the Calendar. And it said in very clear simple text: Monday *idiot*
  15. Came home, stared at diff, took apart spare diff (yay, correct sort, correct ratio!), stared at trusty yellow book, got too scared, put everything in the too-hard-basket. Looks like $60 warm fuzziness coming up
  16. Well, putting this diff in my car already owes me just under $800, and it still doesn't work, and I haven't even gotten the mechanical handbrake to work yet!!! It's amazing how the dollars add up... I suppose what is $60 in the grand scheme of things considering I've already spent almost $800 setting it up...
  17. Mmm I know what you're saying. I guess I'm just hoping that it's a really simple procedure that can't go wrong! I'll go home this evening and have a look at it again... At very least maybe I'll take the old center out, that way maybe it'll be cheaper than $60 since I've done half the work!
  18. Righty-o. Brought diff center in to Diff Lapping today, Steve took one glance at it (wasn't even a big glance, if I had even blinked I would have thought he didn't even look) and the verdict is, in very technical terms: "mate, it's farked. Can't do anything with it, you need new gears" So yes, picked up a spare diff yesterday, don't know what ratio (forgot to check) but if it's the correct ratio I'm hoping to use those gears with my "LSD" center. Cost to swap gears at shop: $60. Spoke to someone today about swapping the gears, they recon it's a "piece of piss" job, and that as long as I'm using the same gears together (ie pinion and crown etc) and I torque it up nice and tight so the bolts don't fall out then there would be no problems. Yay or nay? Any tolerances I need to be aware of? I'm game enough to give it a go, but last thing I want is to stuff up another set of gears, as my budget is wearing through the carpet here (another reason why I'm reluctant to spend another $60 on it at the moment...) And if it all goes pear shaped then I'll take it back out and bring it to Steve to set it up right I guess... Any thoughts? Or is this all black magic stuff that I really shouldn't even get my little fingers into?
  19. For the budget and towing capacity you're looking for I don't think you could expect much more than noisy, rattly and uncomfortable... I mean, at the end of the day it comes down to this: You need a reasonably large car with a reasonably large engine, for not much money...
  20. Yes at least one crew member needs a CAMS licence. I think it's a 2NS or something minimum.
  21. You're definately right about not having the jack stands in the way of the gearbox! I've had issues with that so often now... Might have to try that idea next time I do another gearbox (hopefully not too soon!)
  22. I still like the one on the dirt (not the one with the fist)
  23. Hmm, never thought of using those points as support points, I usually use the section of chassis rail behind the wheels...
  24. Hehe, looks like I'm not the only one who's been staring at sparkly glitter today  Just out of interest, what are those jack stands resting on? Radius rods? Hehe, strange. I've owned 4 Toyotas now and none of them have been reliable at all! My most reliable car owned to date? Mitsubishi Colt :D
  25. Heh, I think it should be noted that passengers (ie more than 2 people in a car) are allowed *unofficially*.
