  1. so, been saving for a while, after a few calls, i decided to go with the LIFAN 140 from Casey at DHZ, mainly due to their amazing service last time. paid for the engine at lunch and had an email nearly right after saying it was on the way..! plans are to fit the replacement engine asap, and then play with the old one a bit, look into head work, 150 kit or bigger, not sure. also did the front brake shoes today, replaced the pads with some KDF ones that came with the bike, until My order comes through. will up some pics later
  2. awesome mate..! congrats..! and love the cars
  3. absolutely bonkers mate..! you always see a few of these at the lifeline bins. what ya reckon we go grab a few and try it down the bridle trail on the range? LOL
  4. removed the clutch side cover after dropping the oil(no major metal floaties). couldnt find anything amiss, in my noob eyes. so i think it is more likely 2nd gear itself is gone, and not the selector? help me out here if you can as i have NFI.... oh well, hopefully it will last a while, so i can save and buy a replacement. plans are a cheap lifan 125 type r head for 320 posted http://www.dhz.com.au/buy/lifan-125cc-type-r-head-racing-engine-1p54fmi/EN-01 or a lifan 140 http://www.dhz.com.au/buy/lifan-140cc-oil-cooled-engine-1p55fmj/EN-02 or 150 http://www.atomik.com.au/performance-parts/engine/en-lifan-150-k.html for 440-450 posted. brakes are also on the sad side, so will need to save up for a cheap disc brake upgrade like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KDF-FRONT-END-FORK-DISC-LEG-BRAKE-HUB-BIKE-50-FOR-HONDA-MONKEY-Z50-Z50J-Z50R-/141185546996?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20df507af4
  5. got stuck into this today changed oil, replaced the blown tail light bulb, charged the battery still got a 2nd gear problem... it only happens in 2d, all other gears are fine. you change into 2nd and start accelerating and it pops out of gear, and back in at random times, sorta like pulling the clutch in under rev and releasing it hard. only in 2nd.. weird.... anyhow, some pics we called it the Zucati, little monster Adam did some nice things to her while he 'looked after' it for me....lol he fit a matching pair of side covers, a heavier rear rack and new tail light setup. he also fit some black maltese cross valve caps, a new oil cooler, as the old one leaked at the thread, even with thread tape, etc very happy with it. just gotta sort out the gearbox issue went for a short ride this arvo i have to avoid 2nd gear altogether.... runs perfectly, otherwise gonna take off the clutch side cover and take a look tomorrow
  6. http://youtu.be/0JPVu8EjsRA Pete Holmes' hilarious take on Motorocyclists
  7. so that all lasted about a month(much like any other ride i get, lol) back to work on this black rig tonight i hope. need to sort out 2nd gear, keep disengaging(for want of a better word). and only in 2nd, all other gears are fine
  8. these are simply gorgeous..! my mate has one of these and it is pretty much a skyline wagon without the insurance premium much like the forester is to the WRX. very nice example you have there, love it..!
  9. absolutely gorgeous mate..! the first car i owned was one of these..! dropped an 18R in it. drove that thing , never maintained it, or checked oil, water or anything for a few years. couldnt kill it. nice score. subbed

  11. my Mk1 was not quite this tough...lol think Carlos might like this one
  12. Yeah agreed mate.! I looked all night at various setups before settling on this one Simple and clean
  13. took her for a cruise to the shops late yesterday arvo, and while inside, someone kicked or knocked over the tail light... didnt notice til i was riding away and heard the weird rattle/grinding noise.. so glued that back together today, and ordered one of these from 3rd gear 'Chopper/Cafe Racer Led number plate, tail and brake light kit' http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motorcycl...-/160927569193 hope it arrives early this coming week so i can get her on before i go back to work
  14. didnt take any pics of that side of things, but will do so when i get her out of the shed later. will edit this post to keep the storyline going wired in the front brake switch, will add pics when i can jump to the rear end we thought we were done, and i remembered i had to take pics for Tozzi(on MBoz) and co of the rear fender so i was going to take her off and get some good all over pics when i got her off, noticed the tail light wires were worn bare from rubbing on the rear fatty tyre, due to the stealth wiring. so we(Mike) set to work, rewiring it and running it along the top of the guard. at this point, we were just keen to get it finished, and i didnt take any pics, sorry not as stealthy, but it wont wear through :-) we now have the tail light and front LED parker light running whenever the key is in the 'on' position. separate fuses for indicators, lights, horn and brake all the lights, high/low beam now work as well as the indicators. even the horn sounds more masculine, lol can't wait to take her for a cruise one arvo, tho they are predicting temps of near 40 in Tbar the next few days... thanks for your time
  15. then it was time to rewire the cdi, stator, coil side of things. this was the most fun, as my bro in law felt something wasnt right, when testing so we called it a night and he gave me some homework so I got to google, and on monkeybikeoz' awesome wealth of info, looking for the right wiring diagram to match what was in this bike. was under the impression it was a 40th harness, so i started there, printing off any i could find that may help when mike turned up in the morning. also came across a similar pic to this(can't find the right link atm) to show the pinout for the cdi, as he felt it may not be wired correctly
  16. test fit of the fuse bank, note the lego cover on the power side, lol rewiring the brake switch more to come
  17. the wires on the back of the ignition had melt damage too, so we(he) de soldered and replaced them more to come
  18. linking the power in side of the fuse block to a larger in line main fuse me fitting a bracket to mount the new fuse block more to come
  19. huge update: as i had 3 weeks holiday, i figure i should sort out the wiring, as i noticed a few more melted points along the harness. time to rip out the cancer and start again started with this my bro-in-law(electronics guru) doing all the work(i was the coke bearer) more to come
  20. actually, here we go. for those who missed it underwent surgery last night. they expect him to be recovered within 3-6 mths. but you don't come back from that 100%, ever
