No such thing as a mixture screw on an EFI car :) What makes you think it's leaned out?

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread
Hiro Protagonist replied to JiP's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Yep, early KE55s have the round lights, late ones have the square lights. They changed a few other things as well - tail-lights, door trims, grille etc...standard face-lift really. -
You've done just about all you can without spending heaps of money.....headwork can open it up a little bit, but combined with a bigger throttle body and you'll probably need a piggy-back like an eManage to fix up the maps.

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread
Hiro Protagonist replied to JiP's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Well, it happened yesterday, but hopefully I just did my last ever uni exam....7 bloody years I've been there, sick to death of it, but for some strange reason I feel like I'll miss uni....not for the work though, just the environment -
Does The 2-tc Come In 5 Speed?

None of which were sold in Australia (apart from TA22, and supposedly a handful of TE27s for homologation purposes) -

The T18 had the 3T, it's technically a Corolla (TE72 liftback) -

I know a couple who named their first-born Anakin......and from what I remember it had nothing to do with Star Wars either. -
Need Some Advice On A Rounded Bolt
Hiro Protagonist replied to rundell's topic in Automotive Discussion
And if worst comes to worst, just throw in the towel and call a mobile thread doctor. I sheared the head off a bolt on the sensor block on a 4AGE, couldn't turn it with pliers and wasn't going to fork out $50 for a set of Ezy-Outs and a drill bit just for one bolt, plus I didn't have the cordless on me and even if I did, it would have been hard to get the drill in position anyway. Called up a guy on the Central Coast who just happened to be doing a job in town the next day, dropped by on the way back, had a nifty mirror and right-angled drill that took care of it in no time flat. $70 later (thats including a $60 call-out fee), and the sheared bolt was out and the hole bored and Heli-coiled. -
Remember that a modern Golf diesel weighs probably 3-400kg more than a 4AGEd AE82, thats 40% more weight to lug around. And diesels really excel at long distance cruising, where you just set and forget, which is why they work so well in Europe. That, and diesel is relatively cheap over there compared to here. All sources I've seen seem to point to a second season already being confirmed, TGUK is coming back because TGAu first season is almost finished, was only ever going to be 8 episodes first time around. Kinda like what they used to do with Mythbusters and TGUK, rotate a season of one followed by a season of the other

Especially considering it's the middle of uni exams.....and if you're not studying, you're working. Probably should call this the "Bums, retired and self-employed" cruise, as those would be the only ones free to go on it.

Is the Old Pac still closed between Calga and Somersby?
-
The design of the cam cover is slightly different too, but from what I gather they are interchangeable (like bigport and smallport)
-
You reckon they actually worked on the car? Most likely they pose for convenient little bits of video, and get other people to bodge up the rest. Notice how the TGAu one only showed a couple of sparks coming out between some garage doors, no actual footage of _anyone_ working on the car, let alone the presenters.
-
Out of curiousity, what model does it say it is on the build plate? Because with a front end like the RA25, I'd be inclined to think that it was a TA27 and not a TA22 (TA22s had the sloped yellow indicators)
-
Hey, whilst they did copy the Amphicar bit, at least the Audi worked a lot better than some of the contraptions the UK guys have come up with. It floated, it didn't sink (the bilge pump no doubt helped there), the outboard propelled it at a modest speed once the ballast and balance issues were sorted, and the car even started first go and drove up the boatramp out of the water.

Got My Girlfriend To Model For My Car
Hiro Protagonist replied to Mybowlcut's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Ohh god, not another bodybuilding forums thread........seriously, how f*cked up can a forum get? -
There's a picture somewhere on Toymods (I think a page taken out of the 4AFE/7AFE Engine manual) that lists critical dimensions of the bottom end for the early and late 4AFEs (they changed significantly) and the 7AFE. I'm trying to dig it up now. *EDIT: found them

[ke70] Charge Light Comes On During Turns
Hiro Protagonist replied to Mybowlcut's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Charge light is run off the output of the alternator though right, not the battery? So if the alternator is healthy, and the battery sick/low, it should still be fine as the alternator is providing the juice for the electrical systems, not the battery (car battery is only designed for use in starting the engine, it spends the rest of it's time being charged by the alternator) -
Maybe someone wanted extra safety? Or one or two doors had rusted out and they wanted the rest to match, or because the interior door trims go all the way to the top of the door in the late KE55s but not in the 30s... Yeah, Gregorys manuals aren't always accurate, but at least they tend to cover just one model (as opposed to Ellerys/Haynes etc, which sometimes span up to 10 years and 3 different models). And from what I remember there's KE30 stuff covered in the 1200 manual (even though it's got a KE25 on the cover). The Gregorys only specifically mentions early and late KE55 models, with the 4K. And SE models were made all the way up until the end of the KE55, my KE55 was an '81 SE, damn I miss that thing. It doesn't appear in Redbook though, at least not in manual form, which I find strange (then again, Redbook isn't the most accurate thing at times either).
-
Or it could simply be a case of shit breaking and people replacing it with stuff from newer models.... On my Gregorys manual for the KE55, it lists in order of spec: L - SE - CS - XX. It ain't alphabetical, and the CS is definitely better than the SE (and the XX better than both) so it only makes sense that the L is the bottom of the barrel. SE has traditionally been a povo-spec for Corollas, look at the AE80 and AE92 SE, they had the worse engine (2A and 6A respectively), lower spec etc etc.

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread
Hiro Protagonist replied to JiP's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I'm only casual at the moment, but going full-time at the start of next year....by which time they'll have finally hired someone to sit next to me, and thus make me dispensable (once I've taught the new guy everything) -
I keep my parkers on permanently for visibility reasons. But then again, I have halos, so it's kinda because they look cool too (but _are_ more visible than standard parker globes).

The "omg Guess What Happened Today" Thread

I'd have to say I'm pretty indispensable to the my company right now, I'm the only draftsman/design engineer in the Newcastle office, the other one left probably close to 3 months ago now and they still haven't been able to find a replacement who knows the software we use, let alone could pick up our database system quickly... -
A 6AFC in a KE70 will have all the problems of a 4AFE conversion, with less power and torque. They were crap in the AE90s, and they'll be crap in a KE70 too unless you want to pour money down the hatch. And once you start doing that, you'd might as well just used a 4AGE and skipped all the hassles.....or, if you wanted to do it to avoid P-plate restrictions, then you should have just used a worked 5K and saved a whole heap of money on doing a conversion (bolt-in wins almost every time)
