Paperwork For Changing 3k To 4k In Ke20
mattress replied to Vaster_KE20's topic in General Mechanical
JC807 beat me to it. I'm quite certain that in QLD you can change to an engine no more than 200cc bigger than the original and no mod plate is required. Just get the form to change the engine number and it should be fine. If in doubt just ask them over the counter... -
Which quarter window seals are you chasing, rears or fronts? Sorry i'm not really up with 25's, I don't know if they have a quarter vent in the door like a 10 does.

Yeah it does look like a good deal. don't take rare spares net prices as gospel though. They probably havent updated in a long while. I got a quote from my local rare spares agent of $550 delivered, compared to i think $750 as advertised on the net. The rare spares kit does contain a few more bits and pieces but the kit from thailand and the extra pieces could be bought for less than the rare spares kit. Were they prompt on delivery and easy to deal with? I think thats the way i'll be heading....
-
Is this the kit from thailand mate? I've been looking at that for a while and comparing it with the rare spares kit...

Philba is right KE1X had the 1100cc motor. KE1X and KE2X were 12' wheels, later models being 13'.

608 RWHP R31 with stock brakes. It did a skid and went fast.... Over and out.

Yeah or you could not bother. Car is easily resisterable without them. A few mates have falcons of the XP and XW variety. The XP has none and the XW has front only. Because they came like that from the factory they arent required for rego or roadies.

Haha, well i halved the what the guy in australia wanted for his. I payed $210 all up to my door. Some may say thats really expensive. I on the other hand think it was fairly reasonable. The wheel its self was $100 and $110 postage....

Felix, you don't happen to know a guy named andrew who lives at postmans ridge do you? I met him a bit before christmas at a servo in tmba. At the time he was driving his KE11 and i had a bit of a chit chat to him and got his number and said i would check out some parts he had but never did. Turns out he has a KE11, a KE15 and a KE18.

Thanks guys. I like the sporty, retro look of the wheel. The rim is a fake woodgrain type look but you have to be pretty close to tell. I did find one here in aus but the guy wouldnt be firm on a price. I think he was asking in the vacinity of 350-400. I figured that was the going price for this type of item here in australia and i beat it well and truly. I'll post up soon what i payed for it. Has anyone seen a wheel like this for sale in australia and what did it go for?

After months and months of searching various places for KE10 parts i came up with an original wheel. I think it may be a sprinter or SL or optional sports wheel. Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. I think it was a very good find and personally not a bad price. I payed for the item and shipping from japan and it arrived here in under a week. The rim is in perfect condition as is the centre but the spokes need some paint.... Anyway tell me what you think. I know a few people around here expect to pay rock bottom for everything, so considering i think its rare-ish what do you think its worth? Thanks.....matt.

Anybody? Has anyone at all replaced their rubbers with new items, on any model?
-
Ok, i'm currently still in the middle of stripping the car but i think its time to think about body rubbers. That way i have the gear here when i want to put it back together. Rare spares will do a complete kit (only missing front 1/4 vent seals) for $560. A business in Thailand will do all the body rubbers but no 1/4 vent seal, door belts or bailey channel etc for about $200 delivered. I would then have to buy bailey channel and door belts through rare spares. My problem is this, some of the rare spares kit seems to be universal while the thai kit seems to be all moulded. Do i go moulded over universal, is moulded that much better and do i have the hassle of my stuff possibly going missing during freight from Thailand? Has anyone here bought through rare spares or the thai seller on ebay? If so can you post up and let me know of the quality and ease of fitment of the two. Any help is much appreciated

I'm also in the middle of doing this. I have a rwd mazda 323 here thats my daily driver. It has a small diameter booster and remote reservoir. I'm thinking i might hit the wreckers and see if i can find one to throw on.

I work for an electrcity company in queensland. The boys are always out and about in trucks and spotting different things. I mentioned to one liney that i was looking for KE10's if he saw any. He said 'get me a picture of one and i'll throw it in the book with the other stuff i'm looking for'. Turns out a lot of the guys have a book of stuff they look out for. I've been sent on a wild goose chase or two but generally they arent too bad. Closest i've got to a KE10 is a KE20 paddock basher. One farmer had about 20 sixties model coronas in a paddock. I still hold hope of finding a KE10 to be used as parts....

Agreed with Mikey, that guy needs to be shot. Why oh why....

I love a lot of old school american stuff. There is a 63 plymouth fury II wagon in a car yard near my place. Ther car has been sitting there for nearly 15 years and the guy wont talk turkey with me on a price. The price on the ticket in the window is 15,000 which was what was written the day it entered the yard. I am not willing to pay that sort of money considering it needs a substantial amount of work. After that i decided to look into importing from the states. A company here in aus will buy the car for you and ship it to your nearest major port for around 2500 au (i think). I thought 2500 was reasonable as a plymouth fury in good running order and tidy condition on american ebay went for around 4000 au. 4000 + 2500 = 6500 au which in my book is very cheap for such a car. He doesnt have any plymouth fury wagons does he mikey? haha

Yes sooty. Some people do crazy things.... I like the old saying "less is more". A nice kit and wheels with a lowering job is all it takes to create a nice looking car. The AE111 looks nice mate.

I'm gonna vote TE27 also. I came across a jap site selling hundreds of NOS mirrors. It quoted the above mirror as being TE27 if my memory serves me correctly...
-
Agreed, lowering blocks do suck. I had 2 rear leaves reset with the eyes reversed with 2 new leaves as well as a new leaf in my transverse leaf and it reset for 200.... Resetting 2 rear leaves should be cheap as chips...

I didn't think neons were tasteful at all.... Maybe i'm wrong. Wheres the pics?
-
Actually i read somewhere about a cross flow head for the 4K. If only i could remember the web page. I think it was some american company who was making them back in the day...
-
Nice work mate. I love the guard mirrors, there should be more of it...

I don't know if i can be really precise here but my brother had no trouble with his 12A turbo 1300 wagon. He swapped 80's model axles and such into an early 70's diff. He even got a later model LSD and put that in.
