  1. Has anyone bought a koyorad for ke25? Basicaly iwas thinking of buying one and found some dimentions for the model specified i.e VH012825 Is it only me that the specified dimensions are not the same or are there different sizes for a ke25/te27?
  2. At the moment i am building a pair from scratch for my corolla. I have all ready posted photos on my thread build but they are not ready yet. What you can do which is a more cheaper thing in my opinion find a front coils which are all ready done for another car whit almost same dimensions and make them fit the hub you want. i.e boring the hub to fit the coil overs.
  3. Lol those are my neighbors hands!! I just opened it so i can remove the rust pitting from the out side and spray it and fit it. Inside as you can see was all good. Yes this was a lhd came out from a te27 in U.S.A and fitted it on the car which came out pretty good. Normally the master cylinder piston washers or the bore will be the normal issue of them.
  4. Hi there i think mine is like yours exactly. I had opened mine and its not that complicated. Here are some photos of inside it.
  5. No as you can see the hub needs to be bored so that the strut will fit into the hub. They will be welded like the original ones.
  6. So a little update on the build. The Shocks have arrived and started assembly of them. So the standard original shock length i had was 15 inches, the new ones are 4 inch shorter and a little thicker that is why i had to used struts from another car. Work Started on the escort mk1 struts to fit them in the ke70 hub Ke70 hub cut waiting for the Engineer to bore the hub diameter so that the new strut can fit in to it.
  7. I had the same problem but wired up every thing with these wires bullets. It worked fine till eventually i found a plug but still worked with them. If them do not fit exactly just press them a little get them more "roundly"
  8. For me the best option to get trough difficult spaces is sand blast. That is how i did my whole car. I had even removed door skins to clean in side. But do not blast of flat surfaces.
  9. By just moving the mounting point of the leaf spring how much do you think did the car lowered?
  10. Yeah that why i added some weight and to be more accurate the two sides need to be lowerd. Did ever someone try lowering the the rear leaf spring bracket i.e cutting it and positioning the bracket furter to the trunk. I don't know if i am explaining my self the correct way, but i think this will get the car more lowerd. I will have to use blocks, but at least not 4 inches at least 2 inch. Just wanted to see all options before and see which one is the best for looks and work involved
  11. Preferibly bought but i prefer looks. Why?
  12. Has anyone tried cutting these up and moving them more up? so yesterday i gave it a try and made some u blods out a of a stud. Made 4 inch blocks and obviously the car lowered but it needed to get more lower. Then added some weights and tried to get the rim more closer to the lip Will try and change the more longer diff tonight
  13. "You wouldn't settle for just the bottom arms being fitted onto the leafs? " What do you mean? Sorry did not understand you. Do you have any pictures?
  14. That is correct the celica ta22 came with the short housing me mistake. Probably my gearbox came from a late celica. Do you think by seam welding the rear end will be enough to convert it to coil overs?
  15. I think you are right ta22 celica came with the short tail housing, will confirm tonight. The first gearbox came with 20 spline so it was the early type with longer tail shaft housing
  16. I thought it wasn't a big problem on the suspension but believe me it is. Front will be lowered like that but there needs to be some space for the tyre to work so i have to modify the front arch 99% but i have to wait for the shocks so i can start modifying the struts in to coil overs. Rear not sure but i think the way to go lowered the way i want it and to look nice is to modify the car and do a 4 link and the car will sit on coil overs at the back. I know that it could be done on blocks but i do not want the car to have a 4 inch block to be lowered. Its basically just for looks only. To give you and idea where i am at the moment i removed the shock and left the car on one spring. The car lowered to the point that the diff came touching to the body and still there needs to me more lowering so i need to make space for the diff housing under the seats. Any ways that will be handled later on. This is like what i had originally bought the t50, had the longer tail shaft housing which when i when to fit it in my car the leaver came really back wards. Then started to look on the the web and forums and there is a gearbox that has a shorter tail shaft and it was a t40 with only 4 gear. I wanted the car with 5 gear so had to opened the two boxes and swap gears and linkages which wasn't that difficult. You have to just remember what you removed first and reciprocate. Yes on the side its a cortina mk2 original lotus from factory. At the moment its getting ready to be painted from the top underneath and in side is already done. Here in Malta there is a trend to spray the care the same colour as the top. Obviously the car is used only on Sundays, sunny days and maybe one or twice a month. to give you and idea...
  17. So its time to update a little my project. There were some problems from time to time mainly that in Malta/Europe Toyota parts are hard to find especially old ones but managed to get all things in shape. Basically the care will be a levin replica as in Europe only sr models came. I have source out parts to get the car the way it is looking today. Metal work in done now starts the hard bit of lowering the car. Rust points were cut and redone again, door skins were removed and replace with new ones and bought a new front fender to replace the left side which had some dents. Rear arches were cut to make way for the flares even the front. I have orderd custom inserts specially made for me in few weeks time will be arriving and installed hopefully and back is still a mystery but would like to go really low but that will be tackled once the front is done. Engine was fitted and started. Modified the 3k subframe to suite the 2tg. Gearbox was a night mare. Originally had bought the engine and gearbox a a whole thing are i tough that was settled but when i went to put the engine on the car notice that the gear leaver as too back. Fount out that i had the wrong t50 which was for a celica ta22. Eventually i had found a t40 gearbox and swooped linkages and gear in the the housing of the t40 which had the tail further to the front. Diff has been upgraded to a carina one which is a few cm wider which is perfect for me and has a bigger diff, that we be tackled when the rear lowering will be done. Other that that here are some photos of the project. This is how i would like the front to sit
  18. Hi does any one know how much a te27 metal valance cost? Thanks
  19. Hi is it possible to send more photos of the back the one with coil overs? I have tried lowering the car 3 inch is not enough for me the spring will sit too low to the floor and it would not be a nice job. I am thinking of getting like a small "chassis" made and re enforce the struts were the coil will fit. Its a lot of work but for the rim to sit well in the arch i think that is my only solution. can't think of any thing else.
  20. Does any one know were i can buy a kit for a solex 50mm cable kit? Thanks
  21. In my case i have 15 inch rims with arches. I cut the body arch so that the tyre will look as flash with the tyre. Mine is going lower than that, If you look closely you will notice that the centre of my rim is almost centrer with the line of the body. The red car rim is a little underneath the line. And mine i think it has to go a little more down. It is just a trial.
  22. To be honest that was i was going to try first cause its much cheaper and less hassel but I'm not sure i will get the height. But I'm still doing body work on the car after that its time to check that one. The only problem that i am seeing is that the diff will hit the body in the middle maybe i have to arrange the body work that part. Will see
  23. In my case its not for track or handling its all about the looks. To lower the car with leaf spirings from the rear end its not going to look good. You need big block spacers and still the rear brckets will not be correct position. So its better to go with this option.
  24. Later on this year i am going to convert my ke25 rear end on coil overs. I was going to remove the leaf springs (i cannot go low as much and is not really neath) and go a set up like this. But i still haven't get to it but should work. Have to figure out what coils to use for top mount and ride height. The only prob that i am seeing is that the diff will touch the body.
  25. The one i bought from eBay was larger than original (photo) Yes there are people who arrange the old one but wanted to see how much a new one costs. And if you going to restore the car you want the best items on it ;-)
