Great Ocean Rd Cruise 27-28th Jan '07 Aus Day Weekend
Jordan replied to TheNOBBLER's topic in The Event Archive
If it occurs some time between the 20th and 27th of november I'm in. After that I'm in Tassie for 3 and a half months. Before that I wont have a car. (grumbles as some bastard pinched my 55 coupe) Jordan -
lets not forget also that a cold air intake on a stock K series motor is rather a pointless exercise. Since the intake manifold is bolted to the exhaust manifold. for a dogy air ram effect into the carbi, you could cut a hole in your bonnet, and get a 90degree bend of PVC pipe in face it forwards. I bet at anyting above 30km/h there would be pressure build up. If I get my stolen 55 coupe back I might try this. Probably will cut out though for the same reason that you need to seal up carbies for turbo use. Jordan

Leighton Fine was using a stock 4AGZE block with a T28 turbo off an SR20 in his Drift Sprinter. And while it let him down when he needed it the most (the last round os the championship) he'd been giving it curry for well over a year, in the most abusive motorsport. he was also running a T-series rear end with a T-18rolla welded up diff. If you're on a tight budget I'd look to this option + a metal head gasket. All you'll need then is a RWD manifold and a remapped computer. If you're smat about it you could be looking at less than $2000. Jordan If you're a little more adventerous, try using a Rover 3.5L V8

Dependons on the style of the carburetor. There is the 'Escort' style weber, like shown here which has a mechanical secondary and are good upgrades if you want to keep your standard inlet manifold. these offer good drivability and smooth power once the secondary opens up. Then there are the race inspired IDA/IDF (twin throat down draft type,) think old school Lamborghini or ferrari or Ported rotors (they typically run a single 48 or 52mm IDA) Then there are the side drafts DCOE webers, which are similar to the solex carburetors found on the 2TG and 18RG motors. Both the IDA/IDF and DCOE carburetors have 2 throats of equal size and are generally regarded as the best carburetors on the market for outright power. However like ITB's they offer poor low speed driveability, an area where the 'Escort' style weber exceeds. Jordan

Some shmo flogged my KE55 coupe today, had a snapped clutch cable and not much fuel. It also had no plates and no rego on it. However I would like it back. It's farly distnctive, has no interior (at all) and has early 80's corona mags on it. Did I mention it was rusty. It'd be likely to be seen in the Torrens/enfield area but eally could be anywhere. PM if you've got a leed JOrdan

pound the limiter. unfortunatly carbie cars don't have then so things like the 2TG in 2nd just keeps on buzzing Jordan

Remember that Kings and other supermarket springs only Lower your car, there is little or no increse in spring rate. So don't expect wonders from those kind of springs. A stiff rear sway bar will improve mind to late corner stability. The 6AFC sounds like it has a lot in common with a Boat anchore, and while not having any experience with them first hand I'd advise not to spend too many dollars on one and move to a 100kw 4AGE or one of the other options 20v or GZE as they will respond to mods much better. Enjoy Jordan

regardless of what wheels you have on your car the 'Eye Brow" height will be the same. this is (as I understand it) the distance between the centre of your axle and the top of your guard. Now since 1989 this has been recorded for standard vehicles and guidelines established as to 'how low' your car can legally be. The easiest way to determine how much you car has been lowered is to get your mates standard AE82 measuer the eye brow height and then measure yours. Cheers jordan P.S: measureing to the ground from a reference point on the car doesn't work because of the differences in wheels sizes. Eye Brow heiht measurements get around this :2thumbs:

Hope you have fun with the original sportivo, I've always liked the subtle body kit. But dam my shot to shit stock 2TG was still pulling at 8500 whien I decided to back off for fear of the thing exploding. The 7A with some TLC should be good for more thatn 6200. Jordan

went out to U-Pull-It on the weekend and there were no KE clutch cables, they'd all been pinched or they were auto's Dam it Jordan
-
yeah I had to stall it and then start it in first. Changing up gears is fine, just changing back while in the twisties was a little interesting. Will be tackeling the problem this weekend Jordan
-
I managed to kill a perfectly good 5k in less than a week Cheers Jordan P.S: might have had somethign to do with the fact that we were runnign it with no air filter on the dirt
-
I had a feeling that it would end up being a u-pull-it affair Cheers Jordan P.S: driving from Lobathal down gorge road with no clutch is fun and the gear box does love it :D

Was out dirt sliding in the KE55 coupe, and the cluch cable decided to give up and snap. -Has anyone replaced one? -Does anyne in Adelaide have a spare one? -How much effort is involved (keeping in mind this car cost $50, but runs like a banshee and would like to keep it as a thrasher.) Cheers Jordan

just clamp the small leaf ontop of the stack upside down lowers 1.5-2" and rasises the rate. 1hour job Jordan
-
Just lowever the back of my LE55 coupe using the inverted leaf trick, took all the photos to post up a 'how to' but it's aready been done. Took us less than an hour form start to finish, however this is the 4th time I've done it, and the results are 1.5-2" lower + slightly stiffer. Jordan P.S: why pay to have it done. unless you want to give me $50 for anyone in SA
-
that would explain why I didn't recall seeing your yellow beast on sunday  jordan
-
don't think so, this shot was taken on the sunday afternoon Jordan
-
there were many a photo oppertunity: even though it's a scubie Jordan

How's next weekend (September the 3rd, it's a sunday) meet at 'The Gov' (or for a bit closer to the hills say 'The Kensington') for meet and greet+lunch then go for a hills runs. Either venue has plenty of parking. The Kensington is probably better for a counter meal, while 'The Gov' is more of a sit down affair. Meet up at 12:30-1:00pm leave whenever Cheers Jordan

so is the consences on aa cruze or on an evening pub style event? either's good, an 'The Gov' is a good venue should we agree on a pub style event. Cheers Jordan
