  1. Great info, I would just be a bit careful with the age of the car you put it in. I doubt you could legally put a 3TGTE into an AE86 or soarer (in some states) because it would be older than the shell its going in. (unless you went LPG?)
  2. I am fairly sure the new diff is an F series out of an early Corona of some sort. It takes Corona brake drums, and yes; it does bolt directly into an AE71 wagon with no mods apart from a little bit of sidways pressure on the springs (mounts are 15mm further from centre, each side. Also flipped a leaf (thanks kewagon for the detailed how to) and it sits nice and low now. Just have to hook up brake line and handbrake cable and it should be go again. Pics later.
  3. This would be soooooooo much better than a commonwhore engine swap, do it, please!
  4. It just never pulled strongly or cleanly. I gave up trying to get it running right on standard ECU N/A. Its now running 3TGTEU Turbo set-up and Microtech MT4 and is "properly quick" and hasn't even been tuned yet. See "slab" in this section
  5. Had trouble getting my 2TGUE to run properly after swapping it into a T18. How does yours go?
  6. ...bearing in mind that spacers are illegal of course, but then again so are cut springs, so I can't talk, LOL
  7. The motor should physically fit O.K. but won't bolt onto existing mounts. Ditto gearbox, but shifter hole probably won't line up. Front seats, dunno, air-con would be more hassle than its worth I reckon.
  8. Close, series 3 rx7s are 4x114.3. RX4s are 4x110 too. You will be able to find 13's. You might find 14's (RX4 Steelies?) anything bigger, you'd have to be lucky.
  9. Yeah, that does sound like its running lean, it will be interesting to see how it goes on the dyno.
  10. Agreed, but is a V6 that much bigger? The block will certainly be wider, but is it longer? (The squeeze is more in relation to block length than width from my memory)
  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_V_engine ...they do occasionally appear at Jap import yards.
  12. Off topic: SV21s had a V6 in them. It was a 2.5 litre quad cam, and might be smaller than later V6s...auto only though, unless you can find a very rare lexus es250 manual from Japan :bash: Also mazda has done a couple of V6s in corolla sized cars - mx3 and 323 mantis. I am fairly sure some lunatics have swapped the small V6s from these models (1.8 and 2.0L) for the larger 2.5L V6 from the same engine family. So might be possible. Also this looks real...http://www.mr2.pl/art_V6_MR2_could_hit_streets.html
  13. - V6 fits in later model Corolla shells...if you are remotely serious, measure up a new corolla engine bay and compare with the AE92 bay.

    T18

Worth that for gearbox, tailshaft and diff alone. Ugly, but good.
  15. Running lean is not what you want, you risk engine damage. How did you work out its running lean, sparkplug colour, or is it because its lacking go?
  16. I have a surplus Falcon throttle body EFI $50 plus postage, apparently it will bolt onto a weber carb mount.
  17. You may need to give more info or pics. When I did box changes on AE82s I used to pop the driveshafts out of the gearbox. Have you managed to split the engine and box? Obviously you have disconnected all the shifter cables, clutch lines, wires etc.? Also check on twincam.org
  18. Have found a diff, see http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=29827&st=60. BTW I measured a corona rt104 diff down the road, it was a shit-warner, but its width was identical to my AE71 wagon, but spring mounts looked wider.
  19. No worries, once I have actually worked out what it is, I'll post here and let everyone know.
  20. Unbelievable, I have found an as yet unknown diff at a local wreckers. I can't believe it, its the right stud pattern, as close to the same width as the shit-warner that its not going to matter, even then input coupling holes are the same. Its even has leaf spring mounts. The spring mounts are about 20mm too wide, but I think I can legitimately, semi-bodgy the mounts quite easily. I am picking it up next payday, will post picks then. Oh yeah, the nose of the diff is a bit longer, but I think the slip joint will cover that. I suspect its either a T series or F series.
  21. Man I am going to have to take some pretty careful measurements. Going to ring around wreckers tomorrow and see what I can find. I am leaning towards early Tarago E series ATM.
  22. Hmmmm, maybe its only Jap spec GT models that had F series?
