  1. Rims look great, but don't work with the cars paint job. Would look good with plain white car, or body same colour as the rim. Too many colours bro.
  2. The 4age gearbox has bigger bearings than the gearbox with a 4afe engine. The gears in your box may be stronger, but the bearings will not be as strong as a twincam box. As for a 4age head on 4afe bottom end, yes it can be done, but a 4afe bottom end is not designed to live with 7500 rpm revs, and if you aren't going to rev it out, why bother?
  3. Thanks mate, she is great fun to drive, if a bit hectic! The road that taxed the bump stops was Mud Walls Road (B31), that road is an absolute disgrace.
  4. "slab" made it to oatlands (work) and back today, woo hoo. Only drama was exhaust leak (missing a nut off dump pipe), am very happy with how she went. Will need to do something about rear suspension, I am pretty sure it was hitting the bump stops in some of the corners, unintentional bump oversteer FTL :)

Rwd; check, leaf springs; check, good body condition; check, kick ass colour, check. Now as long as you can keep all four wheels on the ground...LOL
  6. LOL, gold!
  7. "slab" gave me a scare this AM, died just before tasman bridge. I didn't insulated the wire going to the dash cluster for the tacho properly and it shorted out, stopping the coil from sparking. Thankfully I had a spare coil, and when I swapped the wires over it worked. Will the car ever be reliable? (Might be better now I have used proper terminal connectors for the dash wiring) Blew up the missus car yesterday. Not happy.
  8. I watched a couple of crash vids from Oran Park Drifting had to LOL at the intercooler pipe sitting on top of the tyre wall.
  9. AE71 Wags bonnet, 1 small dent and a little surface rust $20
  10. Nice, ain't that the turbo model? Hope the boys in blue don't notice, LOL. (P plates NSW and turbos aren't supposed to mix are they?)
  11. Thanks Si, Got Jonny to come around. He re-set some of the fuel points with a borrowed Microtech handset. We put some new plugs in and after a little cough, it fired. We hooked up his wideband AFR meter and we spent another hour tuning (both static and while driving) and the mixtures are heaps better now. It was previously dropping into single figures (on the AFR meter) now the lowest its sitting on 12-13s under boost, stoic at cruise and 15-20 on de-cell, so it should be using heaps less fuel, seems to go just as well, and it started cold this AM without too much cranking. Happy? :P For those interested; peak boost spiked at 9 psi, with max boost regularly hitting 6-7 psi, perfect. Appologies to the orange, two-tone, quad light fronted, KE70 that I (literally) smoked pulling away from the shoreline roundabout. Nothing personal, we were just checking the mixtures for full boost. ROFLMAO
  12. Thanks mate, I am just about to give up with the bastard, won't start, suspect weak spark. Oh well, a qualified mechanic (Jonny) is coming tomorrow to do a tune, now he'll have to get it running first. LOL
  13. I have been running 95 ethanol, its cheap and it shouldn't ping as bad as 91. Car wouldn't start today, I think its just flooded, I am stressing a bit because I need it running for tune on Monday. Gonna pull and clean the plugs, unplug the injectors, turn it over to clear the cylinders. Hopefully it will then start. Thanks 36panvan, it has been a long project. I got an el-cheapo BOV and a couple of king springs from a mate today.
  14. *E7* Tacho removed from cluster in Hobart area $50 ono? (No idea what its worth)
  15. Dude, yours is a twincam too (the F in 4AFE refers to narrow angle {or economy spec} twincam head). I can't say whether it identical to other 4AFEs (including AE101's) but I am pretty sure any 4AFE will bolt straight in with no modifications. Also a 7AFE should bolt in and offer a little more performance, although you would probably want to use a 7AFE ECU and injectors. I reckon a 7AFE with a low boost turbo would be an absolute hoot in one of these, and probably cheaper and definitely easier than a 20V conversion.
  16. Soooooo much better looking and better handling: Getting "on-road" tuned on Monday, hopefully will go even better, and use much less fuel (6km per litre :P) Also clutch was slipping, but I think it may just be missing a return spring on the clutch pedal, because it seems to be OK if given a hit in the one gear (without gear changes).
  17. Mental note to self: Don't go on any cruises (until car is 100% defect proof) I don't think they'd be as lenient on my bus...
  18. Yes, I think the 2.0 Litre is more common than the 1.6. The 2.0 Litre came out in Nissan Primera G20 models and possibly Jap spec X-trails (with turbo?) The 1.6 is JDM Pulsar only. The top spec (N1) 1.6 is very rare.
  19. Hey Guys, in relation to "slab" in rollaclub rides (AE71 with 2TGTE); How do I get the tacho to work? (+ or - wire from coil I am guessing, but soldered to which pin in the guages multi connector?). Also, speedo works, but trip meter and odo don't, sounds like a stuffed speedo cluster?
  20. +2 for the aftermarket ecu. I couldn't get my poor 2TGEU to run properly on standard ECU. Its now got a 3TGTE turbo bolted on to it and a microtech mt4 with a 3TGTE map in it (untuned) and it flies.
  21. Finally, "slab" is going well. I pulled out the spring on the passenger side and re-flipped the spring. Ride height is now within a centimetre side to side, I can live with that. She was mis-firing for a while, but seems to be firing on all 4 consistently now. Unfortunately I am pretty much unemployed ATM, so won't be able to spend any more $$$ for a while. I am going to get a mechanic mate of mine to tune it using his wideband AFR (once he locates a hand controller thingy). When he checked before mixtures were very rich under boost, but O.K. at cruise. Anyway here's the vids (crap quality)
  22. Devils Advocate: SR16VE or SR20VE: a couple of hot SR N/A engines. They run Variable Valve Timing (and Lift I think) and make big HP from the factory (the N1 spec 1.6 makes 147kW!) Highly doubt its ever been done before.
  23. Fueling would be a problem, the supercharger is going to supply more air, which means you will need more fuel to maintain a reaonable air/fuel ratio + with a 4af you would be blowing air through a carburettor which will further compound the lack of fuel problem. It would be a lot cheaper and easier to get a small turbo (with the right sort of seals installed) and run a simple draw-through carby set-up.
  24. Glad I'm in Tassie, emissions, what emissions, LOL.
  25. Some results of flipping leaves. I am not real happy, the driver's side is exactly as I want it height wise, the passenger's side is much lower. Flipping leaves, first cavets/warnings, 1/. I don't think its legal to do this 2/. It is potentially dangerous while doing this and will affect the handling of your car once performed. I don't advise doing this, and won't be held responsible if anyone should foolishly decide to follow these instructions. Basically, you remove the leaves from the car. You pull the leaf pack apart; they're secured by a nut and bolt in the middle and a U (for want of a better description) shaped clip at either end. Just pry the clips apart with a screwdriver. I would do one at a time, so you can use the un-dismantled pack as a guide for re-assembly. All you do is grab one of the small leaves and flip it over, then re-assemble the pack. You will need a vice to compress the pack when re-assembling, and this is dangerous. Your pack should look like this (()( {on its side, twist your screen anti-clockwise 90 degrees} If you want lower, flip 2 leaves. You can also remove completely and add leaves while the pack is apart. Hope this doesn't help, LOL.
