Damn tires were made in 07, the basically have full tread left but i doubt bridgestone will do anything. New tires before i get my whitewalls then. Damn.
She'll be right ;)
Hey does anyone in SA have any good tire connections? I'm in need of a couple tyres for my KE20 and I'm pretty broke at the moment.
Can anyone recommend anywhere?
Hey guys on my two rear tires i have a small egg or bulge on each tire? Their pretty minor (pictured is the worst one) and don't seem to effect how the tires run.
Does anyone know why this happens or if i can get rid of it? Ive been told its possible that the tires are not seated corrected? I would usually just get new tires but these tires are almost brand new and are good bridgestones. Since i haven't brought them myself (came with the car) i can't take them back of course.
Can anyone give me some advice?
Huge thanks to Luke for the center!!!
Problem ended up being the center. The 'rod' (I'm unsure of correct term) in the center was just sliding back and forth smashing into the gears. I'm certain that was the clunk sound i was getting. How this produced the movement in the axle I'm not sure? There was some damage to the gears but nothing too major.
Ohh and i could not get the axle out either using the drum or bolting the wheel back on. I ended up doing this:
Big chain attached to the studs so it pulls from the center, got mum to hold the crow bar and I smashed it with the axe. Problem solvered. Also keep note of how clean my work area is haha
Ive done single walls a million times, I've done 2" flappers, 3" flappers, painted flappers, etc etc etc
Ive never done double so i want to try it this time :)
Thanks mate, cheers for the help too. I can't wait to get stuck into tidying it up! It will come up pretty good once its finished.
Sure did, I live down that way.
The thing is the axle is not moving 1-2mm, otherwise from any point on the wheel i would pull it and have it move, its only on one specific point that it gives a distinct clunk.
Ill make sure i check the center-bolt before i change the diff, anything is possible.
Well I had this issue before i replaced the bearing and it didn't change anything? So i can only assume the bearing it correct, i ordered it specifically for a jap diff.
Ive changed one before, biggest drama it getting the axles out, as well as getting the drums off. The first one was a nightmare to remove.
Any tips for me on axle removal?
Thanks Mick.
I don't have any movement in the Axle when i pull the drum off, i can't pull on it and get any movement. Its only when i yank (or hit) the wheel at the top (at a certain spot) it clunks. Its a distinct metal on metal sound, this happens while driving. Initially I thought it was a uni joint but they seem really solid.
I might have to take you up on that Luke. I'm going to rip the diff out this friday i think. See how i go.
On Axel as per normal, no signs of damage, can't say for the diff center because i haven't opened it up. The clunk that i hear comes from the drum end of things if that helps too. I'm stumped.
Hey guys I've got a strange issue with my KE20 currently.
I'm getting a clunk every now and then while driving coming from the rear passenger wheel. When I jack up the car and get the rear wheels off the ground I'm able to pull on the wheel and feel it pull about 1-2mm towards me, but this is only at a single point on the wheel. Ive already replaced the wheel bearing but they didn't seem to fix it? There was alot of play in the old bearing.
And before anyway asks every bolt is very tight!
Any ideas?? The Axel looked normal when i took it out??
I played around and this is what i liked best, the double reds didn't look right.
Their flappers right? Nobody has a tool to engrave whites that thick.
Reminds me of my white vw wheels haha. Ive seen a few people do that with the red rim recently.
