  1. For Sale 1976 W114 280E Mercedes Benz - 2.8L Injected Straight 6 - T-bar 4 Speed Automatic - 14” Whitewalls - Reset (not cut!) Springs - KYB short stroke shocks all round - Spotlights - Early Steering wheel - Curb Feelers - Great tires Hey guys I’m looking at selling my Mercedes, I really don’t want to sell it but I have a new company car and so many other cars something has to go. It gets so many looks and so so much positive attention its a real shame. Body: Exterior is good for age, a bit of rust here and there in the normal spots but nothing major, paint is excelent with great shine and looks a million dollors clean. Its a super straight car with only a couple very minor dents that come to mind. Chromework is great. I have also fitted early style tail lights (not the ugly ribbed ones). Interior: Looks excelent for its age, seats are slightly worn but do not have rips, The dash is fantastic with no cracks at all. Carpet is quite good and I have fitted an early steering wheel which suits it perfect. Has air conditioning that would require a regas at a minium. The stylish bead seat is included. Mechanics: The 2.8L runs well, really don’t miss a beat. Starts first time every time and has never broken down since I've owned it, I drove it every day for about 18 months. Auto needs a service and a fluid change as it shifts a little hard when cold. The suspension has been lowered correctly with the springs being reset to retain stock spring rate and kyb short stroke shocks have been fitted. Even with it low it still drives absolutly fantastic, I was happy driving it everyday it is very comfortable. Also has a brand new exhaust fitted, sounds very nice. Overall an great example of a Mercedes that needs no money spent just someone to jump in and enjoy. $3500 ono Contact me on 0431 290 861 via text or call
  2. Really? I had good success with winding down the window in mine  I've seen heaps of under dash units put in these cars back in the 80's, maybe something like that still exists?
  3. Do not go to Adelaide Wheel and Rim those guys really have no idea and externally source there work now. Extensive wheel are great but not amazingly cheap. I was quoted $110 per wheel to polish the dish on my SSR 14" rims.

    Spotted

I'm keen for a cruise but I've only got my RA23 registered currently. Also spotted a very tidy KE20 putting out of the BP on west terrace today.
  5. My goal is just a GT replica really, I've got a strong 18RG that I'm putting in during my holidays and it will get stripped back and painted mid next year, and finally some GT side stripes to finish her off.
  6. Yeh good old white paint pen. I think it looks good something different. Done it a couple months back and hasn't turned nasty yet which is great.
  7. And for some happy snaps! Gave her a wash and went for a drive down to Pt Adelaide.
  8. Well after sitting in a cave for 2 years I decided it was time to do a little work on my RA23. I had planned to change to an 18RG as i have a couple sitting around, but being that i just brought a house I'm seriously lacking free time. The most obvious thing is new shoes. I sold of cheap sportmax wheels and got my hands on a set of SSR MK2. 14x7.5 +6 Fronts with 185/55R14 14x8 -12 Rears with 185/55R14 Next thing I done was make up a set of coilovers, big thanks to Ryan (SLO-030) for putting them together for me. I cut 2.25" out of the strut and I'm running AW11 rear shocks which are much shorter stroke. Ride and handles amazing, Ive actually got suspension travel now! Also took the time to pull the front bumper from my parts car as my old one had a dent in the corner.
  9. I just brought a house so everything is pretty much on hold. But the 26 just needs a dyno tune so its not a major job to get back on the road..
  10. I didn't know John was stocking 12" walls these days. Looking awesome man. Makes me want to get the 26 out for this summer.
  11. I'm there every 2 weeks looking at this 25. Super tidy.
  12. Wurth do a power mount tape that will hold them no problems at all. I can't imagine the paint would love it however. It might be ok with some proper adhesive remover. But at the end of the day the guards really are designed to be cut, you could see the original guard inside the flare if you don't.
  13. I run 13x7 +6 and the front is flush with 175/60's. Rear you can get away with 13x7 0ish without poke.
  14. They don't exist. End of story. Use flappers or get them cut into the sidewall, or upgrade to 13" and then its possible but price comes into it.
  15. Defiantly spark. Was one of the first things I done.
  16. The immobilizer is stuck on, do you know if its part of the alarm or separate? x 3 for beating the crap out of your 'mate'.
  17. Yep lead and plug makes no change, both cylinder 1 and 2 are very weak at idle, no change in 1 with the lead removed and a tiny change in cylinder 2 with the lead removed. Its twin Dellortos so I'm thinking an issue with the front carby. They were rebuilt 6 months ago and have sat until this time, so never been run.
  18. Ok making progress with this its almost defiantly a fuel/carby issue. First cylinder kicks in at approx 2000-2500rpm under load, so I'm thinking its blocked, or its just ramming in too much fuel possibly.
  19. Hey guys I've just out a 5k in my 26 that has had a little amount of work done to it at some point, put new carbies on there and got it running. Only problem is that cylinder 1 doesnt do anything! So far I've figured out that compression is good, I've got spark (at the plug), valve springs and push rods are fine and I have fuel as its on the plug when I pull it out. As I'm a novice mechanically what else could I be looking at? I'm assuming a valve problem?
  20. Ok guys I've search but could find a definitive answer. I'm going to be driving my 26 as a daily shortly and need it to drive alot nicer than current. The standard shocks are dead and I need new ones, what has everyone used for shorter stroke shocks in the front of 20's? Mines currently approx 60-70mm lower than standard making standard shocks useless. Has anyone upgraded the shocks in the rear of a 26? There quite a bit smaller than 20/25 shocks if i recall?
  21. My 26 (I assume because its a panel van, but wagons may be the same) has a giant helper spring on the bottom that makes the standard height sky high, you could always put it on the top of the pack if you want a more normal height.
  22. Hey guys can someone explain how I can embed a youtube video in a post? I can't figure it out!
  23. Ok thought it was about time I updated this thread and do a proper write up. 1960 Mercedes 220S Fintail 2.2L Straight 6 Twin Carb 4 Speed column manual (Fark yes) Air Bags in rear, single tank with compressor. 13" Standard wheels with the biggest whitewall inserts ever. Couches as seats So I've brought this off a friend of mine as he had too many projects going. Its an absolutely beautiful car and will be stunning when its finished. Plans are to firstly get the front air bagged so I can look cool while driving. Then from there just tidy small things up and finally a bare metal respray to cap it off. The last goal will be a little while off as I have other projects first. So far I've tidied up alot of small things, put new tires on her and located some wide 13" whitewall inserts. I've also installed an original radio to get rid of the horrible CD player in the dash. Heres a couple pictures and a video of the range and speed of the air bags in the rear. http://youtu.be/qAo7ar7AAkY
