Got an interesting SMS this morning - Anthony (owner of the S2000) bought another car yesterday. It's a DA (1989-93) Honda Integra with B16A. It was a bargain, and is a neat little car. He took me and another friend for a ride in it, and it goes okay. VTEC sucks worse than turbo lag though. :D He reckons he'll be doing 1:36's in his first few laps of Hidden Valley, dropping to 1:33's with practice, with NO modifications to the car (it's got a cat-back exhaust, nothing more). The KE55 has only done a best of 1:35. I told him I think the best he'll do in it's (Integra's) current state is 1:35's. Consider the two cars: Integra: 160hp, 155Nm, 1,040kg Corolla: 160hp, 200Nm, 850kg (approx.) He has an advantage in that the Integra is a better designed car, with trailing arm IRS, plus it's FWD so it will lay down the power better than the KE55 does. HOWEVER, he's never driven an FWD car in anger before (not that it's that hard to do), plus he's still got standard ride height (surprisingly high), while the KE55 has been lowered at the front. By the time we actually race, the KE55 will be lowered at the rear, possibly with coilovers (not a high chance though). It'll make for a good race, but I'm pretty damn confident I can beat him. ESPECIALLY if I get the ABV mod done before then. :)

HELL YES!!! Since when's he selling his wheels though??? Gregor: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...mp;#entry217908 - is DAMN the word you'd be looking for?
-
I'd definitely win on launch, but if this 4A-GTE you're buying is any good then you might catch and overtake me. I out acclerated the purple turbo'd Hyundai Excel up the straight at Hidden Valley, accelerating from about 80km/h out of the last turn. I overtook him about a quarter/third of the way up the straight. I think both KYB and Koni's are available for AE90/92's.
-
I'll email someone to find out about the motorkhanas. There's a bit of doubt about the series at the moment.
-
If they could work on it solidly, they'd probably get it out within a week. The trouble is they are so damn good at what they do and are hence so popular. BTW - buy the AE92 4A-GZE halfcut they've got in stock. $2,600 apparently.
-
Didn't know it was in at Hi Tech. Or do you mean when you get it turbo'd? I put the KE55 in there to get it running again & tuned and it took a week. For getting a turbo installed, I'd play it safe and estimate three weeks.
-
Could be - never tried the quarter mile in my car. Will do eventually though.
-
If I end up getting BJ's stuff I'm considering building a turbo engine for the AE70. Stock Bigport internal, eBay manifold, eBay turbo, 4A-GZE plenum, bigport throttle body, eBay intercooler, cheap piping, 4A-GZE ECU. Should make over 100rwkw on a safe tune, sell the car for $5,000-6,000. What's more it would only cost about $1,000 to do it - including tuning. It's good when you don't need to worry too much about the results.

Using that calculator with my KE55, assuming a kerb weight of 850kg (1,870lb), and my dyno'd figure of 87rwkw (117rwhp), I get a figure of 14-flat @ 149.7km/h. The speed figure seems a bit high, but a 14-flat is inline with what I've been told. Apparently when it was registered my KE55 would beat (stock) WRX's. And if I can get the weight down to 800kg (1,760lb) and the power up to 150rwhp, then I should see a 12.6!
-
Fake? I remember that conversation very well. I thought it was so touching that I'd quote you both so everyone would know of your love for one another.
-
I hate you guys so much with your damn quoting!
-
Good point - okay, you'll probably win in a drag - for now. Most experienced doesn't necessarily mean the best. Shane looks to be a pretty good driver from what I've seen of him driving at the motorkhanas. Obviously if any of you raced me, I'd win, but that's only because if we were planning a race I'd bring the GT-Four.
-
Meh, I still doubt that 95kW figure, but even with that I should be able to beat you - not off the line though as I get MASSIVE axle tramp and you've got more weight over the rear for a better launch. Wow - nice way to suck up to me Stephen. Shall I just flop my dick out so you can actually suck on it? :P BTW, if any of you are interested, I have some items for sale: Adam's Bargain Buys!. Prices are negotiable.
-
I'd wait until we've tested that before I'd go making claims Shane. AW11 SC: 145hp, 185Nm, 1,080kg (original specs) KE55 with AE101 4A-GZE: 170hp, 200Nm, 850kg More power, less weight. Hmm...

If you go on to Billzilla's site he has a sound clip of his car idling. I can't remember what cams he used, but it sounded BEASTY!!! Mine already sounds pretty cool with the nice exhaust system it's got and the ridiculously loud whine of the fuel pump. You need RealPlayer for this sound file, but here's a little bit of a recording of my car. It's not the best quality (recorded on my mobile phone), but it's not bad. For a really super-happy-fun-time you need to see the video, also filmed with my mobile phone. It was taken on my private test track, with me holding the phone and the steering wheel with one hand, and changing gears with the other. Lola Start Up & Rev

I'll have to pass - no moneys at the moment. Leave an open diff in it if you're going to sell it. Sell the locked diff as an extra. And my RX7 calipers are four-piston - yours are only single pistons from memory.
-
Why the fark would I (or anyone else) want an RX7??? Surely you shouldn't have much trouble selling that thing for $2,500. Or $3,000 with a pair of my calipers.
-
I want to buy BJ's remaining bits, including the KE70 shell. With those parts I could build an AE70 (KE70 with 4A-GE) and sell it (for about $3,000-4,000 I figure) and use the profits on Lola. Plus I'd have a fair few parts left over, including AE86 coilovers, power steering arms, semi slick tyres and probably a few odds and sods. And Shane, if you want a pair of RX7 calipers just say the word (and give me the money).
-
If anyone wants to buy RX7 calipers or S13 280mm discs, let me know because I need to sell some ASAP.
-
Damn, I need $2,100. Anyone want to give me a loan? Or buy some parts off me?
-
Yes. 4A-GE's are non-interference engines, so there's a pretty good safety margin. It'll probably become an intereference engine with such high lift cams, but I'll be okay so long as the timing belt doesn't break. If any of you have Danno's (Killswitch) mobile phone number, please email, SMS or PM it to me ASAP!
-
Adam is investigating price of getting head work done for Lola. 8/ Probably WAY out of my price range, but at least this way I can be prepared for when I do get the work done. The cams I want will set me back about $850 for the pair, but they'll be AWESOME! Fairly long duration (288-degree on intake), BIG lift (11.5mm). :jamie:
-
Meh, the KE55 is pretty quick at the moment. With the improved suspension and braking components that will be installed in the next month or two, it will only get quicker. Then the engine improvements will start so I can go S2000 hunting. 8/
-
Is the MkII the AWD Corolla you've been planning for years? The KE55 will have 300hp whilst remaining supercharged. Good luck. 8/ EDIT: Just because I don't save money doesn't mean I'm not good with money. Since getting the $20,000 loan for the GT-Four, we've paid over $4,000 off. That's in about five months. :jamie:
