Uh, haven't you been in the car when four wheel drifting? Now THAT is exciting. Farken' ungrateful bastard.
-
Oh, THAT miniature turbo. And the GT-Four's turbo is plenty big, thanks very much. Which reminds me, sometime I've got to give Daven a ride in it. You know your world revolves around me and everything I say. Oh well, if you don't care what I say then I may as well not bother showing you the GT-Four. :bash:

The fact that Toyota brought out a factory motor with a throttle per cylinder is cool (very BMW-ish). I too would like a 20v at some point, but am more than happy with 4A-GZE's for now. Do you really want to get a proper FX-GT and then ruin it's historical significance by fitting a 20v though? A Group A spec 16v would be far more appropriate.

Miniature turbo??? Do you have an RC car or something?
-
But if people call it a 3K-R then it means they can keep dreaming of the day that they fit an 'R' head to their 5K to build "THE ULTIMATE K-SERIES MOTOR". Don't even mention the fact that Rover had a DOHC 16V K-series motor. It probably only had a little bit less in common with the 3K than the 150E did. BTW, does anyone know where I can source a 151E head for my 13T? Plus I need some 503E valves for my 3S-GTE. ;)

Exactly. I'll call this one canned for now, but it's something we can do at a later date when/if we have more members.

Yeah, KAAZ aren't cheap, but they're meant to be quality. It also depends on where you source the parts. Tweakit aren't especially cheap. I got prices on a stroker crank and cams for the 4A-GZE this morning (finally). :bash: Basically the 4A-GE Production Race Head Package in the link but with a stroker crank as well. LINK: http://www.tedcomponents.com/power.htm. Just realised that I'd misread the stroker crank info though. ;) I thought they got 1796cc using 81mm or 83mm bore. Turns out that these are the different stroke measurements. So to get 1796cc with either kit, I'd have to change pistons, which I didn't want to do. However, as the stroker kit (with pistons) is only $3,000 Canadian, it's not too bad (considering a Speed Racer 1900cc kit is about $10,000). Hmm, I'll have to consider this some more.

Nothing up, just want to contribute a bit to NAMSC this year, so I'm going to help run the motorkhana series. The other benefit of doing this will be that I'll save money, which can then be spent on making the KE55 fast for track work. :hmm:

LOL!!! - 10 points to Daven!!! Apparently 2-way LSD's aren't the best idea for FWD cars as they make the vehicle significantly more difficult to turn in. A 1.5-way LSD means that it doesn't have as strong an effect under deceleration, but still a strong effect when accelerating (where it is needed most). 2-way LSD's also seem to be fairly difficult to obtain for the C & E-series transmissions, although I presume they're out there as MR2's would use them.

I've been thinking about this RollaClub Championship, and I'm not going to be able to compete in it as I almost definitely won't be competing in the 2008 NAMSC Norman Design Motorkhana Series. I will be at the motorkhana's, but helping out rather than competing. Shall I officially can the RollaClub Championship idea? There's not really enough of us to warrant it at this stage anyway.

FWD has HEAPS of benefits, but RWD is more fun. AWD can be more fun in the right situation, but RWD can become at almost any time. :hmm:

I broke the diff on the KE55 when I first tried a burnout. I didn't even want to sit there and smoke it, just fry the tyres off the line. I revved it up, dumped the clutch, then it went bang thanks to axle tramp.
-
I thought there was another warning after the 24th, but apparently not.
-
BTW, do I have to keep leaving warnings about the changing of signatures (Stephen & Shane) or do I just need to speak to the moderators?
-
Powercruise? You're kidding, right? I can see it now - you'll put it in the burnout comp and say goodbye to the diff!
-
Yeah, I'll take a look into it for you. Cleaned/jetted ones might be a tad more difficult, but I'll have a look around.
-
Yep - I'll see you this arvo. Not sure what time I'll be there as I'm doing a bit of work at Territory FM after I finish my main job. Probably wouldn't be more than half an hour to an hour. The spring clips would be great!

Which wheels did you end up going for?

Happy Birthday Jip!!!

Too late, dumped. While I was doing that I also accidently threw out my AE71 tailshaft, luckily Andrew won't be using his so he has given me dibs on it. Shit, shit, shit, bugger, damn, shit. Oh well. Because there's such a great risk of a GTHO racing with the current V8 Supercars... :) That's not the one with Beau Bridges in it, is it? I saw that on TV once - kinda funny, but then it ends in a really weird place. Maybe because Phil Hartman was killed during the making or something.

It's definitely my favourite car chase in a movie, just because you can see how they did it and how professionally it was done. Bullitt with Steve McQueen is a VERY close second - mainly because of the awesome sound track during the chase - the sound of a small block Mustang and a big block Charger. :) I've also bought 'The French Connection' 1 & 2, so I'll be watching them sometime soon. Apparently the first movie has an excellent car chase.

I'm pretty sure a 1.6mm was about $150 + postage. Can't be certain and I don't think I stored the price/supplier info anywhere. Remind me another time when I'm less busy and I'll get it for you. The KE70 is the one BJ was turning into a drift car. It turns out that the guy that wanted the input shaft (that you're turning into a clutch alignment tool) DIDN'T want the input shaft - he wants the output shaft as his was bent when his driveshaft came apart - could I grab it off you when you've pulled the T50 apart? I need a tow vehicle for racing. I really need a ute, but I'd really like a Toyota V8. Will probably just get a Hilux. Audi's are super pimp - especially A6's and A8's (I prefer the S6, RS6, and S8 though). If you haven't seen it yet, sometime you need to watch Ronin - it's got two AWESOME chase scenes - one using an Audi S8, a Mercedes (mmm, burnout in reverse) and some Citroens, and the other chase has a BMW M5 and a Peugeot. I don't want to be buried. Any remaining working organs are to be used for people that need them. My remains shall be cremated and spread over Bathurst through the exhaust of a Phase III GTHO. :)

Stock 20v head gasket might be 1.6mm, but that would be a non-metal head gasket, so it'd would compress FAR more than a metal one, meaning it is a lot thinner with the head tightened down than a metal one. You'd probably find a 1.6mm metal one would do the trick. And yes, I'm buying BJ's KE70 - just gotta get the money together.
-
I'm dropping the 4A-GE into the KE70 on Monday. :)
-
A thick, metal headgasket will be fine. You may have to go for a really thick one like 1.6mm or 2.0mm to be safe. You still won't be able to run massive boost as you haven't got the strength of the forged/semi-forged pistons. So long as you're okay with that, then yes, you'll be fine. Three door AE92's are cool. I also like the three door ZZE122 - Corolla T-Sport Kompressor anyone? Mmm, AWD supercharged V8 power... Sorry got distracted. Ideally I'd like a supercharged V8 100-series, with the engine stroked out to 5.5L, but I don't have the money's. :) ULTIMATE tow vehicle!
