  1. Check your cylinder bores and make sure the pistons are okay. Make sure that the cams rotate properly and the valves go up and down without too much rubbing. You also might want to check the head is okay at the same time. 8/ Wouldn't have a clue.
  2. Sexy plenum + GT28RS on your car STILL won't see it beating my KE55 once I've finished it. I want an AE86. 8/ I was looking at a British magazine last night and they had plastic windows available for the AE86. Plus I know where I can get fibreglass panels to do pretty much the whole car. With just the panels I could knock about 130kg off the weight of the car, plus the lightweight windows would probably get rid of another 10-20kg. Not road or race legal (not that it matters for lapsprints), but FARK it'd make the car quick!
  3. I may have a set of blacktop (repeat: BLACKTOP) quad throttles arranged for my 4A-GZE. 8/
  4. I need a bigport head for my 4A-GZE build-up. 8/
  5. That looks pretty neat and possibly even effective. Nice work guys!
  6. Sweet as. Thanks Shane.
  7. If he hasn't bought it then I will.
  8. Don't you still have that spare 16v sitting around, or has Danno finally bought it?
  9. There's a guy that's responded to your thread on Boost. He wants the whole car. You could probably get a couple of hundred for it and not have the hassle of trying to part the bastard out. But keep the whole diff and rear axle/braking assembly!!! You'd probably be best to keep the front brakes too.
  10. Thanks for the info Fat Bastard! I promise I'll eventually do an FAQ article on this stuff. For now I hope a moderator will make this a sticky topic.
  11. Have a good weekend all (except Stephen). :fuzz:
  12. Or you could just help out with others until you've thought of something that will improve your car. I wouldn't have thought you'd be doing much to it for a while, as it'd be pretty groovy in it's current state.
  13. Whoops, yeah that's right. Those are the ones I ordered, as requested. I really don't think adjustability would be of much use to you anyway. LOL - I saw an old high school friend in his green VY ute last night. I was in the black Corolla, so I sat up his arse as we entered a roundabout. As he exited, he gave it hell, as did I. It turns out this thing wasn't THAT quick. It was quicker than the Corolla, but I reckon the ST205 would have hosed it. Sounded awesome though. As was the burnout he did at the next roundabout. :fuzz:
  14. Good stuff guys. We'll seriously have to get together for a working bee or something though. I'm sure we could find time for all of us to spend a weekend on each car before May/June.
  15. I don't think there are many similarities between the VR38 and VQ35, if any. One of the big things about the VR38DETT is that there are no aluminium or steel cylinder liners. Instead there is just a 1.5mm thick sprayed-on plasma coating. Apparently this is to keep weight down, but it would have to mean that the cylinders can't be rebored, so if the block gets damaged, you'd have to get a new block. I suppose if someone can afford an R35, and can afford to modify it, they can afford a replacement block.
  16. Forgot to mention, the annual Australia Day ute run will be happening again this year. I'll be going along to lend a hand. There's not a huge amount of work involved. Just rock up on the day and take money at the gate or help out with one of the competitions (thong throwing, push-a-ute, and best dressed pet I think). Would one or two of you be interested in joining me? Not much to do but I'm sure the help would be appreciated.
  17. There hasn't been any sort of announcement, but I noticed in a 2008 Calendar I just received that the 2008 Shannons Motoring Extravaganza has been rescheduled. It's now set for the 14th & 15th of June. This is EXCELLENT news for me, as it creates a FAR higher chance of us having the TA22 & KE55 ready to display. You guys all still keen?
  18. The rear one is the supercharged version, and I've got a funny feeling that it's the weaker one, even though it's adjustable. I'm certain all the part numbers were correct and the types were the ones you specifically requested. So Koni's and Eibach's are going in today then? Cool bananas. That'll be two of you with nice suspension setups, and mine will improve soon along with the brakes - on the KE55 anyway, the GT-Four already has excellent suspension. Superstruts FTW!!! :fuzz:
  19. Try running a GT-Four!!! It's got a 64L tank, and uses (at best) 15L of fuel per 100km!!! I've barely cracked 400km off a tank!!! With Shell Premium at $1.54/L it costs me over $90 per tank!!! That's about $0.23/km!!! And people wonder why I don't drive it much. The few times I get to drive the KE55 I use BP Ultimate for the track and Shell Premium for play (motorkhanas etc).
  20. Nice - I'm VERY glad you're happy with your new suspension. 20v issues sorted out yet??? And I'm looking at getting a fibreglass front end for the KE55 - it's not getting registered anyway, plus it'll lighten the car rather significantly and improve the weight distribution no end. And last night I made arrangements to get near new Sierra shocks for the rear end, AE86 struts and shocks for the front, and Yokohama Advans for all four corners - just need to swap for RX7 front calipers and adaptor brackets.
  21. Errr, still haven't fixed that. I've got the bit somewhere, but it wasn't where I thought it was when I went to do the repair (at the same time as I was finding out your old wheels didn't fit and the brake pads I bought aren't currently needed). :drgrim: I can't for the life of me think of a new news article. PLEASE suggest something via email or PM. Hmm, $250 sounds pretty damn good. I figured it would just be the two front quarter panels, but a whole clam shell assembly would be cool. I'd just need to cut the front (and reinforce it) to make an air intake. On the bright side, I could make a VERY custom front. I'll have a little think about it and get back to you. Thanks Gregor! BTW, how low do they mount that motor!?!?! That's either a modified cross member or VERY low custom mounts - probably solid mounts anyway.
  22. Well, I'm going around to Gregor's on Friday night (missing out on beers :drgrim:) to help him shift his shed so it can be taken to Sims. Other than that, nothing much is going on at the moment. I'm sure Gregor would appreciate a hand with one of his cars though.
  23. Except while the 350Z uses the VQ35DE (or VQ35HR now), the GT-R uses the VR38DETT, which is apparently a completely new motor specific to only the GT-R. I think that the GT-R chassis also has some (limited) similarities with that of the 350Z, so another benefit of using a V6 instead of a straight six would be that it would be easier to package. Plus the weight of the motor ends up further back in the car than with a straight six simply by being a shorter motor.
  24. How much longer are you up here Daven? I'd be glad to show it off to you. And Gregor, nothing has broken on it. Except tyres. :drgrim:
  25. You lazy bastard! And yes, they're your old rims. With scratches, presumably from your shitty driving. :drgrim: The scratches aren't too bad though - they'd EASILY be fixed.
