  1. Where are you? T&J Auto Electrical do all of our work, just near the cnr. of Burwood Rd. and Power St., Hawthorn. Sam.
  2. Congratulations guys! My indoor cricket team is at the other end of the spectrum, 0-5. We haven't been disgraced each week though, and will win, eventually! BBQ/Cruise could be a goer, I will keep an eye out for more details. Sam.
  3. Just seemed to be quite an unspecific topic name and initial post, with no reference to the info that you had found. A quick search on Rollaclub and via good old Google netted the following links. Rollaclub links: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=24506 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=15638 Google: http://s279.photobucket.com/albums/kk160/psi1uz/v6%20rolla/ http://www.aussiev8.com.au/sale-cars/18287...v6-corolla.html Some of these pages offer modifications etc. for you to consider in your project. Although there is no specific "recipe", 2 words which will continually appear are "custom" and "fabrication". I guess this is the beauty of a project like this as it lets you be creative. I would suggest trawling some of the Holden and Ford sites as well, as I know these boys like putting their spare 6's and 8's into little things (like Corollas) for shits and giggles. Would you like me to do the conversion for you too? Just jokes. Good luck. Sam.
  4. Right near me. You probably go to the sandwich shop next door? I work opposite the Tower Hotel at a small IT company that does software for PDAs. Caters for a range of industries, though in particular OHS inspections, Preventative Maintenance, Facility/Asset Management. Basically, the software is developed in Canada, with distribution in New York and here. I follow the whole project cycle, incl. the marketing, customisation, implementation, and support etc. of the product. Some back-end database work is about as dirty as it gets, all the programming is done in Canada. Keeps life interesting. Also, whilst studying (Swinburne Hawthorn - my life just revolves around Hawthorn!) I used to help out at the old man's work at Pedders in Hawthorn doing delivery driving and answering phones. These days I'm down there on the weekend (if not at the pub!) working on his race car or under the rolla. Oh, and yes, of course I support the Premiership suburb. Go Hawks! Sam.
  5. Were you kids playing at Box Hill tonight (Tues)? I saw a nice KE30 which I think belongs to Dave (Never?). Leaving at around 9:15PM. I was there for my weekly fix of Indoor Cricket. Looked sweet as and sounded decent too. What you running? Had some yummy induction noise. Sam.
  6. Correct. Sam.
  7. You're not overly technical yet you want to rebuild an engine? My suggestion would be to buy a couple of 3ks or 4ks (as they are a dime a dozen, and it doesn't matter if you stuff something), and a K-series Engine Manual (always see these on E-bay). Read the Engine Manual, strip the engines back, have a play and work out what's what etc. Once confident enough, start on the 5k. Sam.
  8. Now that you've mentioned this car, of course it hasn't been parked there over the past couple of days. Murphy's law! I was pretty sure that the car lives there as I see it consistently every morning, bar the last couple. Maybe it's been sold? Sam.
  9. Would be careful with spacers, if not spaced correctly it may cause the shock absorber to bottom out, or affect the performance of the shocker itself. Sam.
  10. What type of Pedders shock? By the sounds of it you have spent some coin with Pedders, so I'd just go into a store and discuss driving conditions and how it currently handles etc. If they know you've fitted Pedders gear they will be more willing to advise you, doesn't mean you will necessarily buy anything off them of course (READ: free advice)! Personally, I would be looking at a specs sheet and paying attention to suspension travel stats, and rebound rates. That said, if you're driving over pot holes, wouldn't you expect the car to behave as you've described? A KE55 is never going to offroad like a Landcruiser! Edit: I'm confused by your reply, are you saying it is for "track work" ie closed circuit on the black stuff, or "off roading" e.g Motorkana/buggying on dirt? Sam.
  11. Quite a generalised statement. Specifically, what product range did you use in Monroe (Sensatrac, GT Gas etc.) and/or Pedders (Touring Black Gas, Comfort Gas etc). Were they on your KE55 or a mates mate's car, or is it just a general "perception" you have of these brands? Also, what springs were been used in conjuction with the shocks, what's the weight of the car etc, what other suspension/steering products are installed? These are just some of the factors that will affect suspension softness/stiffness. I have Comfort Gas Front/Rear in my KE38 and they are plenty stiff enough for me. To illustrate my previous points, I found that a lot of this stiffness was independent of the shocks themselves and attributed to modifying the rear leaf springs. I think Monroe offer the PDF, Pedders have an online category library. Sam.
  12. It's never been done before, you will be the first. But hey, if you do get around to completing the conversion could you please post up some info for me, so that I can use the search function and find out more about it. That'd be much appreciated as I really want to put a Commodore engine in my little Rolla. Thanks in advance, Sam.
  13. I drive past this everyday on my way to and from work. Hadn't noticed the for sale sign on it though. Will try and get a ph. no. tomorrow. Seems to be in alright nick, looks to be a stocker. Sam.
  14. Any chance of some enlarged photos? Thanks. Sam.
  15. Spotted a Green KE30 sedan this afternoon at Como Park. Was on its arse, it was that low in the rear that it looked like there were slabs of concrete in the back. Had a Monza Racing seat and some blue neons at the front. Looks like it's driven hard (READ: No tread on any of the tires!). We were down there as the 'Autobella' display was on. Heaps of Fiats and a few Lancias, Ferraris, Lambos, Maseratis. Sam.
  16. Wow, you definitely got sidetracked alright, very random! Still found it quite amusing. Sam.
  17. Guys, we are rolling around in 30+ year old cars, just man up and wind the windows down! Plus, if you bolt the aircon unit on, there's no room for a supercharger! :bash: Sam
  18. We have aircon on our KE70 Panel Van. Not worth it at all as it robs the engine of too much power. If we're on the freeway and push the aircon button, the whole car lurches forward due to the loss of power, it’s that noticeable! It’s gutless off the lights with the aircon on too. Solution - wind your windows down! Sam.
  19. Nice and close though, 4 seconds between them. Whatdya reckon the chances are of some Porsche gents trading in (up?) for the R35? If you're already in a Porsche it's not like the coin would be an issue! Lambos must be expensive things to run too, if you see where I'm going... :hmm: R35 is 0-60mph in 3.5secs and 1/4mile of 11.7secs out of the box apparently? One can only dream! BTW, have they caught up with anyone RE: the black RX7? Sam.
  20. Not at all, just a bit of harmless banter. But seriously, there is a heap of info on here. Maybe have a good look/search around the site, as most of your questions have been covered on numerous occasions. I reckon that I lurked on the board as a "guest" for 2 years before I actually signed up. Sam.
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Corolla http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Main_Page There's also a search function in the top right hand corner of the screen. Welcome to the board, but if you can't handle the aforementioned suggestions, maybe stick to Fords... Sam.
  22. From TasRotary website: 'Sorry to say but the car was torched, burnt to the ground. Saw the remains at the police garage early last week, you couldn't even tell what colour the car was originally.' Poor blokes. It's not just a stock RX7 worth 5k either, would have to be 30k minimum just to turn it into a targa car, plus all of the development hours the bloke would've put in, and the fact that it was probably his pride and joy. Not good news at all! Sam.
  23. So, you haven't heard anything? Hope they get the car back in one piece. Sam.
  24. Yeah, it goes quite well. Can buzz it to about 8000rpm, top speed of about 115mph. There was an article on it in Tarmac Magazine late last year. Here's some footage from Targa Tas: Note that it hangs near the Torana and Punto until the long straights, but then it gets blown away! Sam.
  25. Hey all, Word on the Targa Grapevine is that a a black Series 1 RX7 was stolen from the Wrest Point Cas after the event on Sunday. Can any of the Tassie boys elaborate further? Apparently the crew left the keys in the car, and someone has jumped in, started it, and driven it out of the car park. Would have taken some balls to steal it considering how many people were around. I guess this serves as a warning for everyone to lock their cars, windows up etc. even if they are ducking into the shops 'for 'just a minute'. I'll admit that I'm guilty of this! Hopefully the boys get the Rotang back in one piece. Sam. PS. Only 74 days 'till Targa Tas!
