And probably not the sort of thing you'd want to go cheap on anyway. You will have to change the anchor point unless you find a matching belt, but any 30-40 year old seat belt you get second hand is going to be on the way out anyway! It's not that big of a deal to change the anchor point, generally just 1 or 2 large bolts through the chassis. Sam.

My previous job was Night Manager at a pub in the city so I have the necessary expertise to answer this one! As someone else said, shot of raspberry cordial sometimes does the trick. The method I swear by (similiar to what Teddy mentioned) is to pour a full pot of tap water, bend over forward as if you are touching your toes, and drink the whole pot of water from the OUTER most edge of the glass. Obviously, when normally drinking a glass of water, you tip the glass up towards you, do the opposite and tip the glass AWAY from you. They refer to this method here, look for 'Drinking Water Method 6': http://www.wikihow.com/Cure-Hiccups#Bartender.27s_Remedy Good luck with it. Hiccups suck, esp. when you are out on the town, as they take away from quality drinking time! Sam.

Hey nice '70, BUT what is that silver thing in the background? I reckon I've seen it around Hawthorn/Camberwell area? Sam.

Got a set of Simmons on it? If so, I've seen this around Box Hill area. Or... there is also an orange one based around Hawthorn with a V6 commondore engine in it.

Targa Wrest Point 2009 31 Jan - 1 Feb
rollapv75 replied to rollapv75's topic in Automotive Discussion
When Quinn spoke at the presentation, he said he couldn't be happier with the car, and that he wouldn't be surprised if 10 of them were in the event next year. As you said, if he traded in a GT3 for it, he must be REALLY happy, as those GT3s are weapons. Having said that, you have to remember that Richards went from a GT3 back to a GT2, I think some see the GT3 as being a bit too heavy. I guess when you've got that much money and you can steer a car that well, you can afford to be fussy! In total there were 3 of the latest gen skylines, Donut King had 2 entered, 1 ran into problems though I think. For Targa Tas. there are 5 of them entered at the moment. I think you will see more of them in next year's events, particularly after the success Quinn had in the the rally just gone. And I imagine that they will be in the mix for Targa Tas as well. I tell ya what, this sunburn is killing me at work today! I didn't think it was possible to get sunburnt in Tassie! Sam. -

So, just home from Tassie now, slightly sunburnt of all things! The mighty little Fiat came 11th Outright in Early Classic, 5th in category, and 1st in class. So, we are pretty happy with our performance. Keep in mind that we had the big Fords and Holdens in there with us (5.8-6 litres) compared to our 997cc! No major dramas with the car. Had to take off the drive shafts and loctite them after the first day, other than that it was smooth sailing. There were some big offs during the event though, which caused a few of the stages to be downgraded, which was disappointing. In Corolla related news, at the carpark where the cars were kept overnight (Wrest Point Casino), I saw a nice KE70 sedan, actually set off a few car alarms in the carpark as it was a bit noisy! Also, one of the officials had a red KE36 station wagon. The KE corollas are definitely alive and well down in Tassie though, saw lots everywhere! Now, we are counting down 'till the big one Targa Tas - only 80 days to go! Sam. -

Will let you know if I'm down for Targa Tas. I'll have to be really nice to the boss for the next month or so! Saw the White's photos, there's a nice shot of the Lambo popping some flames too! -

Undoubtedly the best roads for tarmac rally in Aust! We're entered for Targa Tas. Dad has only missed 1 year since '92 (when it started) and that was because he put his knee out. I've recently started a new job and doubt that I'll be able to get the time off work to go down for support duties, particularly as Targa is a longer event. Fingers crossed I can work something out with the boss! -
Those lucky Tasmanians, yet another tarmac rally down in the Apple Isle! Are any of the Tassie members involved in the event or going to spectate? It's based out of Hobart. I'm flying down tonight to be in the support crew for Dad's '55 Fiat Abarth 750. Info here: http://www.targawrestpoint.com.au/Competit...c%20Competition If any of you are about come up and say g'day. We'll be in a green Hilux. Hopefully I have a relaxing weekend (READ: Nothing on the car breaks!). Sam.

Personally, the major difference I have found is that the KE70 5-speeds tend to be more durable - and I like to think that I baby my gearbox. As stated, KE55 5 speed will line up with your current shifter hole. To add to philbey's comments, when I installed the KE70 5-speed, the shifter was further back. I extended the hole in the tunnel to suit the KE70 shifter, and then I pop-riveted some plating to cover up the old hole. Yes, this will affect your interior carpeting, so either replace the tunnel carpet entirely or stitch in a patch over the old hole. Or if you don't care, just leave it with the plating exposed. Another small issue you may run into is the reverse light plugs may not match, so you may have to do some mix-and-matching to marry up the adapter plugs. Other than that it is a pretty easy bolt-in. Keep an eye out on here, as there have been a few reasonably priced 5k/5-speed packages for sale lately. And if the package is still in the car, you can check the condition of both the engine and gearbox in one hit. Sam.

I don't have Stalkbook, can we please put them on an image hosting/sharing site for the unsociable individuals amongst us? Sam.

In the Pedders range: 2348 Sports Ryder Coil Spring (Front Spring Low) and 7348 Heavy Duty Coil Spring (Front Spring Standard) *should* fit. I would have to confirm this on the system though. Having said that, they should have tech notes in their catalogue, showing what alternative springs are available for AE86 struts. Particularly, with AE86's commonly having tweaked suspension setups for drift/track use. And, if they do not have springs in the Pedders range they should be able source springs from another manufacturer for you. Another idea would be to take the existing springs in and (assuming they're original/standard height) they should be able to match them up after comparing with other springs in the AE, KE, T etc. range. Once establishing that the standard springs match, they would then be able to look up Low springs. Which store are you dealing with? Also, I would suggest getting them to fit the struts up because it can get hairy when springs "go bounce" when you're tightening them down. Sam.

Why expect others to help you, when you won't even help yourself? Laziness. Tightarse. Contact ACT Road Traffic Authority yourself, we don't all live in the ACT. Again, laziness. Half-arsed, tightarse, death wish. Half-arsed. Again, contact ACT Road Traffic Authority yourself as laws re: fuel lines and surge tanks differ from State to State. Seriously, sell your Rolla, pimp your "full sik" VL Turbo and stick to the VL/Calais Turbo Forums. You sir, are a muppet. Sam.

White KE10 at the Shell servo on the cnr. of Barkers Rd. and Burke Rd., Camberwell tonight, young girl behind the wheel. I said g'day. Asked her if it was '70 model, she had no idea. I told her she should "hot it up" to which she said "as long as it gets me from A to B I'm happy". Disappointing to hear, but still good to see Rollas being represented, and a young girl not driving a Barina or a Toyota Echo for a change! She probably thought I was trying to pick her up. Ah well. Sam.

Spotted Yellow KE55 outside China Bar, Box Hill. Sitting on some nice Simmons. Big exhaust and boost guage some I'm assuming turbo'd. Did I mention I love China Bar? Regularly spot a white KE20 on Victoria Pde. Always parked in the left service lane heading towards Brunswick. Regularly spot a mustard KE30 on High St., Kew, near Kew Cemetry. Parked outside a workshop, so maybe owned by one of the mechanics working there. A few months ago spotted a white '20 in traffic in Glenferrie Rd., Hawthorn. Pulled up next to the bloke in traffic and had a chat. Sounded nice, apparently was running a standard 4k. On weekends I usually spot a overrated white KE10 in Camberwell, candy interior etc. We are talking overrated overrated. Old fella drives it around with his cheese and kisses onboard. Looks like it's driven to church and back once a week. A couple of streets away from me in Camberwell lives an aqua coloured KE55, again an old bloke driving it around. Last year I spotted Bernard's (I think that's his name?) Red '25. Parked near my work in the city, so I kept an eye on it and when he came back to the car, I went out and had a chat. Good bloke, nice car. Apart from that, I see the usual tired looking Rolla's getting around, either with young crew driving or an old fella/duck behind the wheel. In particular, there's a overrated looking girl getting around in a rough looking yellow '30 on P's. So there's a year's worth of spots from me, I'll post up again in another year! Sam.

Seen this around Hawthorn, near the club/pub strip on Glenferrie Rd. I'm still in 2 minds about whether I rate the sound of a 6 or an 8 coming from a Rolla though.

G'day all, My name's Sam. I've been a long-time reader, and have finally decided to bite the bullet and join up, if anything, to network for parts. 1975 KE36 Panel Van: Resprayed white with oldschool 13 inch mags. Lowered, all new bushes throughout. Warm 5k, flowed and tidied up head, upped compression, reground cam, single downdraught weber, commodore airbox, 5 speed. Nothing crazy, but goes alright for what it is. Plans: EFI + SC12. Cheers, Sam.
