if possible the ignition switch wiring diagram would be a great help mate
-
hey all if anyone has the wiring diagrams for an ae71 could you please scan and send me a copy? my email is [email protected] any help would be much appreciated and a real time saver. i have a custom loom already made for my ca conversion but wiring diagrams would be much quicker than testing and tracing every wire. cheers

i will get a full engineers cert and mod plate.... eventually........... at some stage...................... :jamie:

ok so ive now finally got a radiator and twin thermos in, i used a honda prelude radiator, got it flushed and cleaned up. it came with two wicked thermo fans that worked when i tested them. made up some brackets with bungs to hold the radiator in and it is perfect. since last reply i have fitted the dump pipe, boost controller and a fair few vacuum lines. all thats left to do now is throttle cable, clutch line, install the custom harness and fit up the rest of the exhaust... just waiting on some funds.... more pics up soon

Ca18det Into Ae71.... Speedo And Throttle Cable Question
redae71 replied to redae71's topic in Automotive Discussion
sweet thanks mate -
hey rollaclub, I'm almost finished my conversion bar a couple of little things, i thought id ask here before smegging around anywhere else. anyone who has done this conversion before, what throttle cable did you use and can you get the std speedo to work off a ca turbo box? havent checked to see if its transducer or cable style yet.
-
i agree but being a mechanic has its advantages the tailshaft only cost me 150 from driveline services here in brizzy and i asked about how much to weld on a new flange and they said theyd do it for me for a case of beer ;) no other corners have been cut with this conversion so i think ive done well. i will run the std diff so it can be tuned on the dyno then i will look into changin it after that. btw i work 1 street from my house so i don't need a car :(
-
hmmmm yeh well please do not mistake budget for lazyness or ignorance as i put alot of work into this whenever i can and i am proud of what ive achieved with my first ever build. please think before you comment. yeh il be changin axles until ive saved up enough :(
-
wtf? when did this become a thread for name calling? i am a 3rd year apprentice mechanic on a budget living out of home I'm sure nearly everyone on rollaclub can appreciate that. i know its not gona last forever, all i asked was what other peoples experiences were. please keep that sort of shit to yourself. when i have enough money i plan to run a tarago diff with suitable LSD centre. btw have you done a full conversion without the car spending even one night in a workshop? also i hardly expect that sort of shit from admin,

hey mate i use rb20 mounts on a ke70 crossmember in my ae71
-
i have a spare so now i can side step it 4-6 times :) i thought it might happen that way...... i will not be thrashin the piss out of it til i figure out what I'm gona do about it.... how long will it last in a straight line? :(
-
hey all i have an ae71 with ca18det..... i had the tailshaft made up for the std diff open wheeler, am going to weld it but i have heard of axles twisting and snapping, how long do you reckon it would last at around 200hp? what experiences have you had with welding these i.e. drivability vs performance gain?
-
hey all its been a while but i have the internet at my house now so i thought id update this :lolcry: motor is in and g/box and custom tailshaft are in to... took a bit of cutting and bending but it was relatively straight forward, so now all i have left is intercooler piping, radiator, clutch line, wiring and a couple of other little things... so far so good il keep you posted
-
thanks for your advice mate i am sorta running low on cash but if you still have the computer i will consider it later on down the track UPDATE: engine and gearbox are in :rocknroll: now i only have radiator intercooler piping and wiring left to do i will post some more pics soon

yep thats about it, my girlfriend has an immaculate ae92 with a 4afe just has 2 inch sports system into a 4 inch cannon by the way don't bother with a pod filter unless you wana make some crazy sort of carbie cold air induction pipe.... just get a high flow circular one to sit in the standard air box on top of the carby... if you can find one 4age conversions are so easy in these anyway so save a few grand and put some work into it, youl be happy
-
hmmm... i will definitely have a look at that, was thinkin about using an aluminium ca radiator off ebay, not sure yet I'm gona size up the space i have once the engine is in

i am in tassie atm so i have no pics on this computer but i will be back up in qld next week and il put up all my pics then

hey all... well i blew up my 4ac about 6 months ago and it sounds like a tin full of marbles now. probably should have put up this thread when i started the project as I'm about half way now but meh, here goes. bought ca conversion off my mate, came out of a ke70, which consisted of, custom engine mounts on crossmember, custom g/box member, one piece t/shaft with ca turbo splines and ae71 BW flange, blown motor complete with wiring loom turbo etc, turbo g/box, brand new clutch, ca18det manual computer... all for $300  plus my t50 g/box. oh and a straight through catback 2.5 inch system with no mufflers that runs under the diff:) so far i have bought a new CA from alljap imports for 1100 and resealed it. fitted stainless manifold onto t25 standard turbo. bought a 3 inch split dump pipe from some place in sydney looks wicked and should sound awesome to. now the fuel side, in the boot i have, on a custom stainless mount, a 14psi lift pump looks like holley copy, into a 2l surge tank then into a walbro 600hp high press pump. from the pump to the motor is 3/8 braided fuel line with dash fittings either end. i had the fuel pick up modified by predator so i had 5/16 pickup return and breather lines, i just used efi hose from the tank through to the high pres pump as it is only a max of 14 psi through there. also the return line is 5/16 efi hose. next step is fitting a couple of coolant lines to the motor and getting the flywheel resurfaced and clean up the pressure plate then i will bolt the clutch on and the g/box and slide it in that way as ive been told that is the easiest way to do it with these conversions. questions and comments appreciated :hmm: HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH what RADIATOR TO USE!!! (P.S. also going in car is a 600x300x75 front mount, blitz DD BOV Autometer boost, oil pres, and water temp gauges, 3 inch high flow cat) go down for more pics GO TO LATEST POSTS FOR NEWEST PICS AND VIDEO

yeh for sure I'm still thinking tho as for me a 4agte conversion would be a bit easier i am a mechanic so i have the means to do it cheap and quick but then again....
-
my mate just pulled apart his ke70 with a ca and is selling the conversion so I'm buying the crossmember, ca18det, 5 spd gearbox, and tailshaft off him.... a question also, when converting carb to efi all i need is return and dleivery lines a high pressure pump and low pressure pump for the fuel side of things?

the motor is 60000ks old since rebuild it has a ported head reground cam jetted carby and aftermarket coil king springs and gt gas shocks... i am fairly happy with it all ive done since i bought it 2 weeks ago is rims and the rear muffler... not that is muffles much as this thing is damn loud and i like it :) overall its a clean ae71 except for a little rust but hey its 24 years old... let me no what you think!!!
