  1. oh forgot to say i'll be in the orange/poo brown ke20 on the standard 12X4 rims. not so good in the wet. oh well i'll just have to work on those drift skills. :bash:
  2. yay it's today! can't wait to meet johno & bernie (think i saw you on tocau, red ke25?)
  3. maybe it's stuff floating on top? just worked out my fuel economy for the 4k. 9.5L/100km. is this a bit high for a 1.3L? i use the car for commuting so it usually just does cold starts with the choke out a lot of the time, is this what is sucking up all my petrol? what is figure everyone else getting for fuel economy?
  4. great idea biG-tai. i mentioned this in the regular spotted and felt like a fraud. there is also a ke70 panel-van down at Kilsyth last time i checked (two weeks ago). i know how much the keto brigade just love those chrome bumpers.
  5. just spotted a mustard ke20 on the way home from a mates house. parked on kooyong rd outside what looked to be a school/uni (dunno, too dark). had original 70's black plates. can't give a better description it was too dark and wet.
  6. i'm coming with a mate in the ke20. so put me down as two for lunch.
  7. i know mine is over 41L cos i just filled it up with 41.6L the needle was below E on the fuel gauge. just looking in the owners manual and it says 45L and when the needle is touching E there is 4L left in the tank.
  8. KE36 or KE38. i don't know how you got that vin number. it should be stamped in the firewall.
  9. (sort of) spotted a white ke35 coupe and a cream ke70 van in pickapart today. van still has its chrome bumpers for all you ke70 fan's out there. the front one was good but the back one was a bit bent on the passengers side. the ke35 was really good. everything was there. good rust free bonnet, boot, guards, doors, ect.
  10. myspace FTW!
  11. i was having trouble with the clutch control in my ke20 when i started cos the friction point was at an point where my big goofy feet would get caught under the heater box. so i adjusted the pedal down so that the friction point is about only 1cm off full depression. if you are having trouble with finding the friction point have it set to where you want it.
  12. my ke20 does this too. it has a 4k block &head with 3k ancillaries, so a manual choke. i have noticed it only when the choke is on. my theory is if the mixture is already rich with the choke and the extra fuel from the accelerator pump as you put your foot down makes the mixture too rich. this results in a short pause (stumble) as the mixture becomes lean enough to ignite. this is just my theory, dunno if it is correct but all i know is when the choke is in the engine performs fine but with the choke out the engine has a short pause under hard acceleration. is your ke55 an auto choke? if it is you may need to let it get fully warm before putting your foot flat to the floor. i want to see what everyone else (people with know how) thinks.
  13. old red p's are now the new green p's. there is now an intimidate year between L's and p's. this is the new red p's. hope that made sense. so it's now L's then red p's for 1 year then green p's for 3 years. there is also a new (harder) two stage driving test. that goes for 45mins. differences between red and green are... green: same as red's before. red: same as green but no towing, one passenger between the ages of 16 and 21 or 25 (i forget) and no mobiles at all ie. no hands free.
  14. did anyone else pick up the toyota "toyopet" joke. it took me two goes. it was going to be called the "toyolet" ;)
  15. whilst on my latest youtube rummage i found this. it's Jeremy Clarkson talking about how japan killed off the British motor industry. there are some great shots of a bunch of KE20 corollas coming of the boat fresh from japan in a 1970's top gear report. good bit of viewing for all japanese car lovers.
  16. woh! didn't realize what a can of worms this was but then again this is rollaclub, you guys know more about toyota than toyota does. thanks for all the info. :P sorry for going off topic.
  17. bugger. looks like we got the raw prawn. :P
  18. has anyone else noticed that in the first post, the fourth picture down is a early fronted (1970-1971) ke20 with a 2t/3t. not at all unusual but it has what looks like factory 1600 badging. is this an early version of the TE27 sprinter? from my knowledge the TE27 only started production in 1973. any information on this car would be greatly appreciated.
