  1. There will be 1750 Classic Cars at Birdwood. Plenty more to see than just Rolla's. People come from all around Australia for this event. It is truly amazing to see some of the cars that turn up. I have seen everything from a BMW Isetta, Volvo Amazon's and P1800's, Ferrari 330 Gt, Lamborghini Muira, De Tomaso Pantera's, VW T34 Karmann Ghia's etc etc to more commonly seen Corolla's, HR/HD Holden's, XP/XM/XL Falcon's, Valiant's etc. etc. It's a truly great day with amazing cars, some very very rare. Just a taste of the 2007 Classic.
  2. Sweeeeeeeeet !!!! That will be two 11's in the B to B at least. Would like to see as many 10's and 11's as possible.
  3. mmmmmm......... VIP stylin' and almost layin' rail. Sweet Jesus !!! :bash:
  4. Nice pick up. Great to see another one being saved. Please don't tint the wondows. Let the world see the visual joy that is a red interior. The first thing I did when I got mine was remove the tint. Oh and the other thing you should do is send me that grille. You won't really need it. Just put some shade cloth in the hole. :bash:
  5. Not sure about Oh-KE, but I used a sponge brush for "nooks and cranny's". Found it to be quite effective, but you gotta be careful not to get too much paint in on any one layer. Biggest trap of the whole gig is to try to see full coverage in the first layer or two. You don't really see full coverage until the third coat if done correctly. Not everyone has the access to a compressor or room to shoot a car or in fact the know-how. This is a way that the average Joe can paint his car very cheap in a rather confined garage. Although..... watch the fumes...... :bash:
  6. Well my Stout was in it in 2007 and that is neither restored or perfect. Reckon the 35 will be no worries.
  7. $50 Here is a link to the entry form if it has not been posted already. Pricing is listed on the form. Bay To Birdwood Classic 2009 Entry Form

A perfect example of hard work paying off. That is sweeeeeeet !!!
  9. Love your work with the roller (and on the rolla :hmm: ). I did a Datto Sunny the same way after reading a massive thread on a hot rod forum a few years back about it. I trawled through about 50 odd pages of this thread after some dude in the USA posted up pics of his Dodge Charger he did. Then he gave heaps of help and instruction to others that were trying it. Great stuff that you did it. It does take a heap of patience as you said and heaps of coats, plus thinning the paint down with just the right amount of turps to allow you to get the paint on fairly evenly and then allow it to settle. I must admit that my patience ran out during the process when I tried it and hence my result wasn't as good as yours, but still worked out okay. It really is a cheap way for anybody to be able to paint a car in their own garage without worrying about learning to use a compressor or having overspray etc as you said. I look forward to the next instalment. :rolla:
  10. ^^^ Agree with benzo..... your car should be no worries RA28GT.
  11. Hehe.... I like the way you have gone to the effort of blanking out your rego plate in the pics yet you can still read it in the reflection on the bumper in the shots from the rear. :rolla: Cool car. I love anything with a venetian blind in it. :hmm:

NOTHING..... please nothing at all...... okay well I will allow an upgrade to a 5k motor if you must, but otherwise please keep it looking nice and original

Spotted Mitch with a few of his mates in his slick white 20 last night after seeing Fast and Furious. I was sitting next to him at about 11:30pm at the lights on Princes Rd waiting to turn right onto Belair Rd. outside Mitcham cinema's. We were turning left in a white Liberty. Fast and Furious is okay. Not enough car related action though.
  17. WOW !!! I actually wish you hadn't lowered the Rolla. As it sits in the pic it's got that old school hotrod rake feel about it. Was big among street machiners in the late 70's and through the 80's for a while too and I think it will be popular again. Either way, jacked up at the back or lowered, that is a great looking car. The Prelude looks pretty neat too btw.. Fender mirrors = yes for me, but please please please lose the door mirror if you do it.

Just spotted a KE10/11 at 10:55am heading East waiting at the Frome Street traffic lights on North Tce. Looked bloody fantastic! In fact it looked exactly like my 11. White, slammed on 14inch steelies painted black with no hubcaps. Venetian in back window. Whitewalls. Only major difference that saved me from thinking my car had been stolen was the black JDM style fender mirrors. Sweet as.

Spotted a KE10 at 1:10pm on North Terrace at the lights waiting to cross Frome Street heading East. Was white and looked stock as.... also had a black louvre on the outside of the back window which didn't really look very nice. Got me excited just seeing it though....... gotta get my 11 back on the road. :D
