Finish the crown wagon and cruise that. Its sort of intended to be styled in a similar way to the square. Whether it ends up as cool time will tell!

And sold :( Had a little cry when it went. Probably the coolest car I will ever own! Last photo of her under my custodianship

And sold :( -
Welcome. Your car looks great, and so does the neighbour's Celica :)

the t3 system is designed to work with the t3 hat there is a note here that says the t3 system doesn't work with the cusco campertop - http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/13345-T3-Camber-plate-upper-hat-system i needed to space the top spring perch off the bottom of my cusco cambertop. i don't think i had any binding issues, but if you were concerned you could machine your top hats and fit a bearing in there like the t3 ones have my cusco cambertop photo installation is in the ke35 thread in my signature

VIC 1971 Vw Type 3 Squareback

That is a very tempting offer young Stu!! I keep looking at your Starlet photos and drooling. I would be getting a much better deal out of that than you though... and its a shame the Starlet is too new for club rego... I really would get shot for bring a car home that needs full rego. I better pass. But damn. Don't tempt a man like that :) -
Howdy all I have decided to get serious about selling my much loved square. It was hardly getting driven before our bub arrived, and I am pretty certain it's going to get driven even less since she is with us now, so I would like to see if there is any one who might want to take her on and breathe new life into her. Details as I know them; *Registered as a 1971 Type 3 Squareback - currently on non-transferable club rego with the Toyota Car Club. *Awesome shade of yellow *Stock twin carb 1600 engine *Lowered, and had newish KYB shocks in it when I bought it. *BRM style 4 spoke rims, white wall flappers. Front tyres near new, rear tyres probably need replacing depending on your RWC bloke. *SCAT t-bar shifter - makes for really good positive gear shifts *Previous owner put a new set of charcoal carpets through her a few years back - they were LHD carpets so its not perfect around the pedals *Has grey vinyl lowback front seats - the rear seat is standard late type 3 in black vinyl *Flat 4 roof rack - timbers need restaining and one or two are warped and need replacing *Early Type 3 front and rear bumpers fitted with overriders etc. I think they are Flat 4 repro's as well from memory. The chrome on both front and rear bumpers has some patina going on, they are not perfect. *All red USA spec rear tail lights and clear front indicator lenses *Venetians in all 5 rear windows *Mesh sunvisor, chrome front window rain guards, chrome eyelids and cool yellow fog lights (not actually connected) complete the package *Done very few km's in the last few years and has had plenty of money spent on getting the front end sorted (balljoints and steering damper done recently) and also having the carbs rebuilt most recently. Truth be told its probably been over serviced. Trying to be completely honest about her, the following are probably the biggest issues with her: * Despite carb rebuilds and tuning 6 months ago, it is doing it's cough and splutter trick again. Someone who knows what they are doing can probably sort this quickly and easily! I haven't managed to get time to take it to a mechanic for a tune and investigation(Edit - Removed mention of rough running - repairing a broken wire to the RH fuel cut-off solenoid has fixed her up and she is driving a treat again) * Rust is the enemy of the Type 3, and this one is no exception. The worst is around the plenum and around the brake master cylinder whoch are both pretty ugly, but also very normal for a late square. It also has small bubbles in the standard T3 places - top rear corners of the front guards, some in the rear roof, some in the front edge of the bonnet and one lower rear quarter appears to have some cracked bog in it. Floorpans are also not perfect with some pinholes thanks to water leaks associated with the plenum. * Heaters not connected. This was due to originally having extractors. Exhaust is now standard and I believe there isn't much work in getting it all installed from where its at now. As a side note I still own the stainless extractors and exhaust so that will come with it. * Gearbox is pretty damned noisy - a spare gearbox came with it when I bought it, and you can have that if you want it. It has been sitting outside under some plastic so may not be flash at this point in time. In all its a gorgeous looking fun classic cruiser. It gets so much attention on the road it is unbelievable. She even won the "Shannons Choice" award at jambo this year which surprised the shit out of me. Price - $8,000 ono. Honestly hard to put a price on it as I am far too emotionally attached to her, but I think this is probably fair given everything she comes with. Happy to include the few spares I have and a couple of eskies at this price too. If someone wanted to do a swap on an extremely clean 4AGE powered AE71 or AE86 I would also be interested in having that discussion - though not expecting the equation will work out 1:1 - nor do I expect the owners of those cars to want this!! Recent photos that probably flatter her some what! Lots more photos here: https://picasaweb.google.com/113432889999220868273/VeronicaTheType3Squareback Contact Details: Adam Laws [email protected] 0413 001 666 Car is in Eltham North, Victoria, if you want to come for a look.

So its ages since I posted in here! The Celica is now rolling on shockworks dampers front and rear, and their adjustable front spring package. We stuck with the King Spring rear, as the AE86 spring is much smaller diameter than the Celica one, so we couldn't use their adjustable platform rear. They spent quite a bit of time customising things to make it all fit in - my theory that the AE86 was pretty similar was a fair way off the mark! Never the less its remarkable how much they have transformed the car. I have had to relearn its handling characteristics. Its limits are generally beyond where I will punt it on any given cruisey weekend. So very much worth the expense. Its also allowed the front to come down just a touch in ride height and looks better. Its still not dumped into the weeds, but I want it to be practical still. Here is a shot from All Toyota Winterfest a month or so back Today in a spare few minutes I decided to experiment with the silver paint pen and see what side wall writing would do for the look. I like it so need to finish the rest of it now. Shame it will come off so easily. Still need to replace the gearbox, but a clutch adjustment has made it much nicer to drive. And it still needs to go on the dyno too. With a new bub arrived a few weeks back, it might be a little while before some of these things happen!

An interesting first post, that certainly doesn't put your best foot forward. If you are indeed an enthusiast, who has just hit a patch of the CBF's, you may well enjoy becoming part of TCCAV - www.tccav.org.au Plenty of knowledge and enthusiasm can be tapped into among the club members to help you get your Corolla back on the road. However, we do take a dim view of people wanting to put shit boxes on club rego and your car will effectively be given a roadworthy in its club reg inspection, so think about how you can approach that and put your best foot forward. Good luck!

So just for some closure on my engine dramas... the good news is she is running smooth and sweet again! Turns out when old mate put the engine back together in 1981, he didn't tighten the oil hard line nuts, he simply rested it in position. So with some oil pressure, it fell off and landed in the sump, and that (along with no oil pressure) was what was giving me binding as it was turning over. Was plain as day when the sump was off. Fortunately, through sheer luck, it didn't damage any bearings or the crank, so it has all been screwed back together and is running sweetly. Driving back to the work carpark from the mechanics was my first drive of any note in her. Thoughts - drum brakes all round are interesting, and the transmission hopes into second/top gear at about 5km'h, meaning its nearly a one speed auto! Other than that it drives and steers very smoothly. I was surprised. So plans now are to finish off a few jobs that are must do's for rego like get a new mufflers on it. Then I will dump it into the weeds :)

Loved your car when it turned up at winterfest. Not seen a KE30 done like this before so well done! It was one of my favourite cars there

Doogs nah no chance. PR won't be screwing it back together until Monday.. and it will need an exhaust and a few other things finalised before its ready for a club rego inspection

So I chased earths, power lead and rebuilt the starter. All no dice. Had my mechanic come and look and he came to the same conclusion I had - something inside the engine was binding up and it had to come out. Good news is he pulled it out yesterday and found the oil feed line had fallen off - back in 1982 when Don put the engine back together, he clearly hadn't done up the nut. The better news is that there appears to be no damage to bearings or crank and the engine is now turning over very freely by hand. Win!! Hopefully next week we might be close to being back on the road :)

Much potential to be had here. Looking forward to see how it develops.

Just confirming this is on regardless of the weather. And only rock up to the Northies 7am meet if you are part of the organising committee - the show proper starts at 9am and the Gardens (and me!!) don't want a stack of people in before they are open. See you tomorrow Adam -
