ooooh.... nice mate! as for your rusty speed holes, cut, sand back to bare metal, treat with fish oil, and fibreglass! easy. but if youve got the time and access to a mig welder, sand back till all the paint in the area is gone and you can see where the good metal is, cut out the rust, weld in new sheeting from another rolla or something similar and panel beat to shape! also, EBAY, EBAY, EBAY!!

good news i think!! so i cleaned all the earthing connections, (the one to the body and the one to the engine), unbolted them and sanded them and then put them back where i found them. then tried the paseos battery just to see if it was the battery, turned over really fast and strong. so then i put my battery back in and yup, started first pop. so for the moment it seems that i have solved the problem. i will definitely keep these areas in mind as part of my routine maintenance!! i never realised that these things were so important and that i had to keep an eye on them! as for the relay to the starter motor, i think there is one already connected to it. anyway, thanks for all your help guys, i love this forum!! regards charl

well i just cleaned the terminals and then tried to crank it over again, but no luck! it turned over heaps slowly and would not start so i kept trying and then i noticed some smoke coming out of the bonnet so i quickly had a look and my clutch cable had gotten so hot that it was smoking, naturally i touched it and burnt my fingers but i also noticed that it was so hot that the plastic coating on it had gone really soft, almost to the point where you could just rub it off. so now ive got the battery on charge, just in case that was it, and i am feeling rather frustrated. PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY!!!!!! sorry, let me just compose myself for a minute........ any help would be greatly appreciated!!

so, had a little trouble starting this morning. and just before when i went to start it to come home from work, (stupid 4 hour shifts...), i turned the key and nothing. it makes like a click noise and nothing else. one of the guys offered to give me a jumpstart which if I'm correct wouldnt work if the starter motor was buggered but it turned over first time. battery is brand new and has this display thingie on it which says if its green battery is 50 - 100% charged, if its black recharge and if its clear buy a new battery. its green, same as the day i bought it. noticed a fair bit of corrosion around the positive battery terminal though and am going to clean them right now to see if this makes a difference. still if anyone has any ideas please let me know asap as this is my daily and i gotta get to work everyday!! thanks people charl

i know its not the battery, brand newie! cost me enough too.... as for the starter motor, i think that would be the safest bet. ill let you knpw how it goes starting this morning when i get out there to go to work. (its 0437am)

hi all i have a good one for you guys this time! :D ok, so heres the story. ragin has started acting up again. first thing in the morning at about 5am when I'm going to work she starts first pop everyday, then at about 1130am when i am leaving work to come home she starts fine again. later on in the arvo when i wanna go to the shops or something i try to turn her over and the starter motor sounds like it having heaps of trouble trying to turn the crank. i turn the key and nothing at first but i hold the key on and very slowly itll give one revolution then wait a bit and then another and if I'm lucky itll start on one of these slow revolutions. but then in the morning when i wanna leave for work she starts like there is nothing wrong..... :yes: i am thinking maybe my starter otor is on its way out, but if this is the case then why good in the morning, crap in the arvo. (mind you the arvo is also when my partner is in the car with me so maybe ragin just doesnt like her?.... :lovin: ) so please help me people, i need to get the mechanics of my car sorted.

yeah fair enough, but who said it would have to be a jetty road circuit cruise? i didnt hear anyone.... besides driving along the beach during the day is for its aesthetic value for me. i love the beach, its beautifull. plenty of places to stop and have a chill or ice cream or whatever. very relaxed for my liking and your not way out in woop woop if anything should go wrong. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would agree with me. hills cruises have their place too but its nice to do something different every so often. thank you good night

well I'm sorry to say that i wont be attending anymore. :P my partner only told me yesterday that her little brother is coming over tonight so due to the fact that i have no rear seatbelts yet i cannot bring him along so i can't come. i will definitely go to the next one though. maybe it should be a beachy cruise instead of the hills? cheers charl

Great news everyone. ive landed a job with woolies starting tomorrow so the project will keep going and getting better!! didnt even have to miss any work days between holdens and the new job. WOOO!! :)

i posted in the electrical help section and used the information people gave me there to get it sorted. some things were left a little unclear but i managed to suss it all out! thanks to everyone who gave me the info i needed.

due to the fact that my alternator is now fully functional i am excited to say i will be attending this cruise. unless of course something else goes wrong between now and then..... fingers crossed!
