After a long and frustrating journey i have finally got my alternator sorted out!! :lolcry: so thanks to all of you for your help and advice, its awesome to be a part of a community where everyone is so generous with their time and knowledge. I'm sure this wont be the last time i ask a question but I'm happy to be driving again! i ran my own positive wire to the battery and removed the external regulator and now everything is sweet! see ya on the road charl

my partner made my roof lining for me by using the old one as a template, even though it was ripped to shit, and then i installed it into the car. worked a treat and cost a whole 20 bucks!! check out my thread for some pics. give it a shot its alot easier than you think.!!

i had the same problem with my headlights not working and my indicators not flashing etc, but after i got my parker/ indicators installed everything worked fine so i dare say you do need those to complete the circuit just like i did in the 20. hope this helps mate.

i used semi seeled 7" lights that i got off of a bmw from upullit. ended up costing me 10 bucks and they work great!!

oh an does that mean i can remove the regulator and bit of wiring loom that doesnt do anything anymore?

awesome news, thanks alot medecine man, ill get right onto that. ......uh.. what colour would that wire be?
-
well, there is the source of my problems (not the best photo i know) this is the plug i was talking about, ignore the yellow wire next to it because its not the right wire, it was just a white wire that was sticking out of the loom on its own that i attched the yellow wire to thinking it was the wire i needed but i don't think its right. i would imagine one of the wires in the plug would be the one i need to use? oh and on a side note, this is on the side of my sump, just wondering what it is?

ok, now I'm really confused! i tried the thing about connecting an earth to the connections for the alternator to see which one is the right wire to connect to the back of the alternator. of the four wires i have none make the charge light in the car go on. so my question to you is this... NOW WHAT? i would really like to have this sorted before the 28th of this month because i want to go on the adelaide cruise that is on that night! I'm gonna go buy a new battery on sunday as well just to be sure but i need to get this wiring sorted out. any help would be greatly appreciated charl
