Mike Portnoy = superficial drummer His ability to play slightly complcated rythems... not bad. His technique... shit house. His dynamics.... pathetic. His expressive ability... below human. His musicality... limited. He is like a human drum machine with LIMITED programabilty. Sorry to jump your post but I just don't inderstand why anyone rates drummers like mike portnoy when there are BRILLIANT drummers like Buddy Rich, Moe Morello, Elvin Jones, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Matt Johnson, Jim Chapin, Steve Smith :S

Open handed playing is awesome. Sure it may make rolls interesting but it also gives you an advantage with off beat grooves and hats work. PLUS you're leading with your creative side, where as righties lead with their mathmatic side. open handed rocks... check this freak out... ... notice that his hats are low, this aids open handed playing :S

I do this all the time at work... Get a 2" scraper, sand it till its razor sharp, apply a little bit of heat to the tar and the shit just rolls off. A heat gun is always a usefull tools and razor sharp scrapper is great for cleaning apllicators so you'll use them multipul times, no need to spend $50 on something you're gonna only be able to use once. And as for fumes, use only enough heat to soften to tar... NO FUMES. and if you still belive the fumes are an issue grab a fan. :rocknroll:

If you want real funny looks from people in maccas try this: Order your food, and while the young impressionable person is getting your meal, roll up your note into a small straw. When they come back and ask for the money, hand them the unrolling note, while wiping your nose and sniffing. :hmm:

I once thought that becuase i like Vegimite and i like Nutella i should try them together... NEVER AGAIN... its up there with bruching your teeth then drinking orange joice. Many great points there, most of which hold excellent merrit... Sure BMW's development runs rings around everything Australian, sure Ford/Holden are trying to hold back the tide of globalisation, sure Ford and Holdens main point of sale is marketing... and so on...though, non of which discredit the fact that if i give you $50 grand you could not get a new Merc or BMW with the same featured/options as a FORD or Holden AND you are still going to pay more for service and parts.... BUT most of all none of what you said discredits Ford and Holden as being good cars.. just not as good as cars that cost a shit load more. Australian conditions are from cold to EXTREMELY hot. Regardless of what cars the europians benchmark there cars on, they don't design and test their cars soley in and for Australia. Yet after all this gibba gabba about trivial tangents and epenises, Australian cars are still good cars and are quite proud worthy. :y: BUT most importantly, this thread is designed to bag Hummers! :hmm:

YES! of corse... how stupid of me... if i travel, when i get back, somehow high end Eurpean cars will be more affordable and better suited to Australian conditions :dance: Straight up we're talking about vehicles that are avaialable in the country we live in, therefore Fords/Holdens and Jap cars are still the best buy for money from where we are sitting RIGHT NOW. :jamie:

Thank you for agreeing with me and making all the points to prove me right. "Minus the import duites"... fact is, you can't it without import duties and levies... so therefore it is cheaper. And even in Europe, their parts are far more exspensive than Aussie and Jap cars. "put a VE omega or a BF up next to the equivelant merc or beamer"... once agian my point... sure the HIGH END beamer and merc may be better but DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR it aint even close... both the Merc E and series 5 BMW are way more exspensive to buy, service and repair. Lets take my fully optioned XR6 turbo... costs less than $60 grand.... for that you will not get anything nearly as good with a BMW or a Merc... actually for that you get an entry level series 1 130i which is no where nearly as well built as the XR6, or as fast or as safe.... or designed for our conditions. Dollar for dollar you get more from ford and holden....Shop around, do your home work, learn the facts. "the are not the best, only the most effecient and cost effective"... you just crontadict yourself. Sure a Fararri Enzo is better... but once again dollar for dollar, you get more from Japs cars that european cars. Europe do make the most refined cars, but for what it costs to by a higly optioned Ford Holden Nissan, Toyota... etc... you wont get a higly refined European car. I build luxury cars for a living, I get to drive all sorts of cars and yeah sure the Mercs and BMW do drive alittle nicer but they cost 3 to 5 time more to buy BUT they don't drive 3 to 5 time nicer. Straight up a practical man will buy a Ford/Holden... a poonsy noised toffer would preffer the STATUS Vehicle.

I hear ya though there are some good reasons why we wouldn't: It would be easier to grab an import 2 door and convert it if needed. We're in the business of making money.. unfortunatley copping rollas wouldn;t meet that criteria and most importantly... we make it a rule not to chop classics :jamie: Could be a Brissy Bus, that is 1 HUGE bus factory, they make all sorts of buses. Well thats sad to hear. I understand some people hate Fords and some people hate Holdens and its all in fun .. but in honesty, we are blessed as a nation to have 2 GREAT automotive producers that make world class cars for us. Both the Falcon aka Fail-Con andf the Commodoore aka Commonwhore are proud-worthy cars.... sure you get a few lemons and sure some look down right ugly (mostly Fords) but seriously the cars we're producing at the moment run rings around that shite that America is trying to sell us. ... can you see the car in great detail in your mind painted in the colour schem you're thinking of... if so and it looks good, then go with it. Everytime i come up with a colour schem or a car concept EVERYONE looks at me funny... then they see the finished result and they jizz them self. remember most people have no imagination so trust your self and feel good in showing them your idea in fruition. :dance:
