  1. Picked this up from cooma (6hour drive) a little under 12 months ago Primed- painted up some bits- front on for a look rust in the bottoms of the front gaurds- bought some repair sections and made some repairs- etched out the door gaps and underside of the panels- swapped out the original 253 for a recoed motor I got for a case of beer- front back on ready to be rubbed rubbing- painted GTS dash conversion, black, crack free crash pad Cut and buffed windows tinted by karlies dad- windows in- front just sitting in, need to get the hoodlining in before I get it sealed, will have to pull the rear screen again too, but I just wanted it weatherproof and on that note, these two things are all thats needed to get a rear screen (and front screens in most old holdens, not in the HQ series though)
  2. Thought I might aswell throw the old girl up for anyone who is interested 1972 LJ torana, had it since I was about 15 (22 now) I originally bought it from the wreckers for $1000, (was looking for an EH wagon or ute at the time) was complete and relatively straight (and with no rust) Had thrown a leg out of bed and spewed that good ol' rusty water everywhere. Was running a column shift trimatic gearbox and was "olive" green with a white roof and chrome striping. Me being your average 15 year old, I stripped it down before anyone could take any photos and therefore the only photos I have of the car before work are a couple that my brother took this is one of them- from there it was fully stripped and beaten- engine bay painted I slapped together a new motor for it (under the watchful eye of my old man) was 30 thou over, fresh pistons, standard rods, stage 3 holden head, 8.5:1 compression, very mild camshaft etc. All up, including machining the engine cost $2k to build up (love having friends in the industry) Originally had a weber from a fairlane on it, but later changed to a WWII carb. Having the car running before the painting made it shit easy to move in and out of the workshop in the mornings. car painted It was only ever meant to be a "quick" build up to replace my daily at the time (95 charade on 15x8s  was a fun little car) But after everything started snowballing it kind of became a bigger project and took around 8 months of flat out work (every arvo and every weekend aswell as the days I used to skip school) Full interior retrim was done by another friend and totalled another 2k worth of work (Mcdonalds funded most of this) This was the first time the car rolled out of the workshop complete It still needed some minor work I started off running an Opel 4 speed box, 3.08:1 banjo rear end. Anyway, after a while the WW 2 barrel carby just wasnt cutting the mustard (I was on my red Ps still, ohh the irony) These came off another LJ that we bought, stripped and scrapped (was VERY rusty) Over the years I spent $1500+ on those carbies, with rebuilding them, new bits here and there and making them look like this- Went pretty bloody well with the triple SUs on it too. Car got some toyota love while I was on my green Ps, steel case celica gearbox, CRS bellhousing (mechanical clutch), heavy duty clutchplate and a yellaterra explosion proof billet steel flywheel. I'm kind of all over the shop with pictures and stuff, so I think I will leave the history bit at that. This was a fun time to be 17 my charde, VK and torry. I was in the process of selling the charade and bought the VK calais for $150 in parts, threw it back together registered it and put a set of wheels on it. Was great to get a choice of cars to drive! haha\ some random photos- The original motor made around 100kW at the wheels running on a shithouse tune (very very rich) A while after that I fitted 308 rocker gear (higher ratio, basically like having a cam with bigger lift) I drove it like that once or twice, then pulled it apart (I seem to have a habbit of that) I stripped the motor down and rebuilt it- ACL flat top perkins pistons Starfire H beam rods Fully balanced rotating assembly Had the head decked and rear of the ports throated (havent fully de-shrouded the valves, thats next on the list) that upped the compression to about 9.8:1 Fitted a cam that lies between a 40/80 and a 35/75 (XU-1) cam, custom ground from a fresh billet cam by a good friend. Car was instantly better. then decided once again to pull it apart..... smoothed the engine bay, hid the wiring, sold the SUs and fitted 40mm webers Did the transformation in 3 weeks, spent every night after work in the shed (I work in sydney too) Got it ready the day before my mates wedding (the deadline) Thats about up to where I'm at now, Ive replaced the black carpet with a tan colour and I'm just saving to get the kickpanels retrimmed, boot carpet remade and the shifter/handbrake boots sewn into the carpet. Most of my time and money has been filtered into my missus' ute that I'm almost finished (will throw up another thread) I still need to finish off my custom dash and fit it, aswell as getting around to knocking up a new boot install for shows and crap. Ive also got these to fit and sort out- just need to lower the car, change the offset (3 piece wheels, already have the new outers) and roll my gaurds!
  3. this must have been owned by this guy too- http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=39615 (only joking here) I just don't get who would throw yellow and red together like that though? (each to their own, its just not nice to me though)
  4. Needs less of the mcdonalds colour scheme on the inside, but other than that its a nice little thing. The black makes it look pretty ominous love the l plates on it! haha
  5. Yella terra platinum roller rockers, uprated valve springs and change the pulley. The change in rockers, alone, is well worth the money (around $400 to me at trade from memory) the upgraded ratio (1.9s I think) is excellent. I'm assuming you are running a decent exhaust? Pacemaker make S/C extractors (larger primaries) for these. Metal high flow cat, and a decent exhaust will get it moving (make sure you have a decent muffler and atleast one resonator, holden v6s are notorious for drone) Should see it in the high 100s I would think.
  6. For some reason I had to read that 3 times before I understood what you meant. I kept reading it as I do it (like the nike slogan) for defence. not I do Information technology for defence! haha. my whinge is simple. Why do they bother making toilet paper that is the equivelant of 80 grit sand paper?
  7. atleast channel 9 might run current seasons and not pick and choose which weeks they are going to play new eps. I had no dramas with their broadcast though, might be a signal problem in your area.
  8. Yup Mr antenna are good at that. I rang up, got quoted just under 200 for installation and tuning of a new ariel. I was sick and tired of f@$king around with it myself. dude comes out, jumps up on the roof for five minutes, gets back down and proceeds to tell me he only has bad news.... For starters we need to switch to Newcastle only channels by facing our ariel towards the opposite direction which means we wont be getting any sydney channels (the ones we wacth) and only getting the regional horseshit. Then he goes on to say I need a $199 amplifier to boost my signal enough to get a clear picture. And I'm also going to need a $199 "tin mount" to mount my new fangle antenna on the roof, because a normal one wont work due to the colourbond roofing.... so all up my quote blows out to just under $700... I told him to stick it up his arse I'll do it myself for that f@$king price. Went to bunnings, they wanted $100 for an internal powerboardd type amplifier. Ducked into Dicks smiths just to compare prices, they had an $80 external pole mounted booster and a $50 booster, dude tells me they are exactly the same.... I pulled the old antenna down, cleaned all the contacts, re-sealed the connector box, threw on the amp, plugged in the power source and I now have crystal clear reception, tweice as many channels (syd+regional) and it only cost me $100 MAX! plus a couple hours of my time.
  9. Just FYI for anyone who has an incident with a Linfox driver, they take their complaints VERY seriously and from what I know it was 3 strikes and you are in big shit. Hence why you don't come accross too many bad linfox drivers. now lindsay brothers on the other hand.... there is a reason they had a well worn nickname of "the upsidedowners" in the late 90s!
  10. Your little man is growing quick now Taz! this little guy turned up in our street and was getting abused by all the neighbours (and chased onto the road where he nearly got hit a bunch of times) so I threw him over our front fence (its only about 3 foot high) and let him hang out until I could get him to the vet for a microchip scan (gone home to his owners now :) ) Our girl is about 65 kilos, and about 5 times his size! They got along pretty well, she layed down at one stage and he tried to hump her back leg, she snapped at him and growled. He stayed away from her privates from then on! haha.
  11. I like the sound of your road laws! although I'm guessing that leaves alot of pieces of shit driving around every day? What breed is your dog? hes about the same size as mine (German shepard X alaskan malamute)
  12. Id kill to find a decent nick MK1 cortina. My old boy's first full blown race car was a MK1, had an infatuation with them since I looked at his old photos. Would look good parked next to my torana! haha. Very different example though. Good job dude!

nuts. thats all I can really say. Surely a set of wheelie bars would let you get it off the line that bit quicker. I still can't believe you have any traction at all. top work man.
  14. fixed that for you
  15. Was 30.9 degrees in the dining room (our bedroom comes directly off it) at about 11pm last night. Air con is definitely next on the to-do lisdt for our house.
  16. couple banana peels will stop it whining for a while if the noise is getting to you.
  17. I knew that video sounded familiar but couldnt remember what it was so went looking and found one thats still up- if you like it that much, google "orbit downloader" and use it to grab any videos you like, works awesome :jamie: on another note, that song and that video are f@$king terrible dude!
  18. our dog Carla (the big shepard) and her mate Kendal, whos house we went to visit for a swim in the river!
  19. 900 a litre! jeezus! I think my whole paint job on the ute (I borrowed a booth and painted it myself) cost me about $500 and thats including 5 litres of hi-fill primer (spray putty) and 5 litres of white paint plus hardener etc. wouldnt want to get any runs with a price like that!
  20. Nice! bit of a different colour too! planning to fit a tray or is it a burnout only thing? I'm just whacking this back together after a fresh coat of paint-
  21. Is it just me, or does that dyno look ridiculously hard to put a car on? single large rollers instead of dual rollers for each wheel? or is there something I'm missing?
  22. Still say you should start modifying the thing :y:
  23. Thats exactly what I thought Raven, She never actually came out and said "hey I'm half dude" there were tonnes of sites that said she did, but none ever turned out to be real. my missus likes her though, some of her music is absolutely shithouse, a few things are catchy enough, but she sure is one weird bird. She has some masters degree in music or something aratha, graduated from one of the most prestigious classical musical academies in the states.
  24. is she really a dude though? I saw a video of her on stage from a foot height, she gets off this motorbike thing and it looks like a schlong flops around up her skirt. But then where the f@$k does she tuck it the other 99.9% of the time that she just runs around in her underwear?
  25. I always just hate the assumption that paying cash will make the car cheaper by some ridiculous amount. I had people telling me they would give me 2k less then the asking price (4900) and made it sound like they were doing me a favour because it was $2k cash! news flash. It doesnt cost me 2 grand to cash a f@$king cheque! but yeah, people shit me in general when it comes to selling cars.
