I never said the standards were created by the web browsing companies, I agree totally with you that microsoft are being difficult about the whole situation. But I refuse to let you blame I.E. users for what microsoft chooses to do. The problem is red tape and politics on microsofts behalf. They have the cash, they have the monopoly, thats politics for you. You run Microsoft Windows? use any microsoft products or services? everyone else does, why do you think they got so rich and chose what they want to do? Face facts, at the end of the day, the end user wants a piece of software that they can use easily, microsoft has done well to simplify their software and interface over the years. I must say windows XP has come a long way scince their earlier versions of windows, would you expect everyone to just up and dump XP and jump over to a linux based O.S? (Boycott microsoft to the ground?) The sad fact is, until someone makes something better than microsoft and can compete on the same level, microsoft is here to stay. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of bill gates, but I have no reason whatsoever to change over to any other web browser. If it was big enough a deal for the average joe i'm sure they would "chose" another browser as it is their "choice".. Nobody forces them at gunpoint, they have fee will to use whats available. On an ending note, I HOPE they get their act together and comply with the CSS standards when they release IE7 with vista, I know how frustrating it is, I.T. is a f@$king disgrace of an industry.

You need two or more companies too compete with each other, why bring a third, fourth or fifth into it to confuse everyone? My point was about different people doing things different ways In I.T. I never said there were only 2 companies competing against each other and don't see what relevence there was in that statement? At the end of the day Microsoft has made their product and have no real big competition. All these other browser companies are small fries to Microsoft, so of course they aren't going to give two shits. Its the same with Windows vs Linux etc. Money is the end decider in their influence. I have nothing against anyone who uses another browser, but saying I.E. users are the cause of all the problems because they run I.E. is just plain ridiculous.

I think you took my quote a little too literaly before, Imagine if I said there are no set ways in I.T. that you go about a given thing such as making a website. You have so many different server extensions you can run, each of them will make your website have different abilities. I don't see HTML as being a "standard", moreso a "default" programming language that all websitse are based around. If it was a "Standard" everyone would be programming it. I could spend all day rattling off the different languages you could make a website with, but they all do different things. (My quote was much like putting 2 people in an I.T. position and asking them to do the same job, The job can be done any number of ways depending on what software they know they can use, What language they know to program something with, Their general computing knowledge that affects their decision making / implementation etc.) Their is NO I.T. bible governing how you go about solving computing problems, everyone does things different ways. Sure you can use books as a guide, but at the end of the day a PC (Personal Computer) is designed to be personalised and will always be differently configured computer to computer. I understand that CSS is a standard and DO STRONGLY AGREE Microsoft should have made IE7 comply with the standard. "IE has support from people that don't know any better" The average user has no need to use any other software, IE supports peoples needs just fine, Its interface is basic and user friendly. Its like the argument, why fix whats not broken? And yes, I'm aware there are more than 2 browsers I don't know where that came from?

For the average home user, yes, IE wass stupid letting activex scripts execute, If you have service pack 2 for windows xp installed it should ask your permission first before it executes an activex script. (Microsoft's attempt to make you aware of what you are doing to your machine). But if you are ignorant enough not to install your windows updates and services packs, you deserve to learn the hard way about spyware/adware. I commonly see people infected because of their ignorance to keep a few basic things up to date. (1) Windows Updates / Service Packs (2) Anti-Virus Software / Virus Definitions (3) Spyware / Adware Removal software (Microsoft Anti-Spyware in this case which does a real good job I might add)). For someone like me who runs Windows XP and keeps everything up to date I have never had a problem with any spyware/adware installing. If your implying that IE is a security risk, so is any other browser or peice of software you run on your machine. At the end of they day the script kiddies are going to attack anything that has a security hole in it. Thirdly you NEED internet explorer to access the windows update site, so its not a wise move to remove it from your machine. Also the fact the guy as a MCSE means total bullshit, just because someone has a piece of paper doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. I've seen plenty of people in the I.T. industry that don't know jack shit about computers and have the pieces of paper I don't have. Yes Fook, I know what you mean about IE not working the same as another browser, but what do you expect for two competing software programmers, unfortunatly their are no set standards in I.T. I agree they should have helped standardise the workings of web browsing software, but they haven't and that's microsoft for you in a nutshell..

Tested my latest practical joke today, scince the service manager left this morning to go on holidays down to the snow... After the guy thats taking over the service managers job left early yesterday afternoon the evil plot began. We made a paper trail that lead all him all around work, clue after clue, think we made about 33 in total. there were a few puzzles along the way that had to be solved, text files located on the server, clues left on various websites, clues under peoples desks, behind clocks, behind the toilet bowl, clues on invoices in our accounting system, the ideas were flowing well.. Anyway, we hi-jacked his drink this morning and hid it and left the ransom note to the next clue. Luckily he was very thirsty and wanted his drink with his lunch. He must have been going round in circles for the best part of a half hour before he figured it out.. Anyway, I have another practical joke for him tomorrow, will let you know how it goes :cool:

Oh, I almost forgot, record an audio sample of the phones ringing and the bell on the service counter ringing, this gets the service managers attention every time :lol: Even pressing the bell on the service counter on your way past is enough to drive the service manager nuts :cool:

Another few jokes I've tried. (Seems to happen moreso lately because I'm bored and need some entertainment). Take the service managers lunch when he leaves it on the bench and gets distracted and go hide it and leave a treasure map. (This is even funnier when you don't actually put it where the treasure map says) :lol: Tape the switch on the phone system down, so when the service manager gets a call, he picks the handset up, but the line doesn't pick up. (This was funny watching him scream "Who f@$ked my phone" and slamed it a few times trying to get it to work. :cool: Another one is ziptie someones stuff together so they try pick it up and everything else comes with it :P

I don't have anything against the people who are out there giving it a go, but the "wannabes" who have never been involved in motorsport before who try to say that "drifting around a track is faster than racing around it" or "Why can't I tune my 3K to the Tosco catalogue so my corolla can drift" are the people giving drift a bad name. Everyone has their own form of motorsports they prefer and at the end of the day if you enjoy what you are doing, thats the way its still going to be. You may recall a certain video from a drift event where two cars collided, not saying it was anyones fault, thats motorsports for you, but the guy who got out and abused the other guy wasn't doing any favours for drift. People bring it down to such a personal level and forget that you should be out there having fun, not making it an ignorant keyboard warrior ego sport. (Probably moreso because its the younger generations adopted sport?).

Was a great day, one close call with ben (irokin) don't know who shit themselves the most, Ben or I, he was having some steering troubles and was in the middle of the track (I didn't know at this stage and thought he was still racing), I thought I'd try go around the outside, but the problem was he was heading back in to the pits, lucky I had enough speed to fly around his outside..
