I had a break from paint and panel tonight, modified a KE70 column, cut and shaped a 4mm steel base plate to bolt in place of the original rubber, bolted it in got the holesaw out and made the hole for the column to pass through. Its all tacked up ready for welding, i shortened the shaft between the two knuckles by removing the inner from the outer and trimming both to suit. I now have steering :poke: the 20 steering wheel fits to :D column i got was bare though so i need another with all the indicator, wiper, headlight stalks in place, also need the shells and barrel with key to match

Hey mate i have seen people getting away with about 7 psi with single ebay t70 turbos on the factory ecu and injectors, they would most probably have a 1:3 ratio rising reg or something, problem is 1uzfe's are pretty high comp from factory, timing control is pretty important once you start forcing air in aswell. What happened to the flea? website is down? I got about 4 hours in on the KE20 tonight, prepped boot lid, putty coated front guards, also got to put some colour under the boot lid as i wanted to test the new paint i bought. Also start plating up some rust in the bonnet i got with it. Engine mounts are complete, gearbox crossmember complete, will try and make the tailshaft adapter and source a patrol tailshaft this week, also the turbo and gate and other missing engine bits should turn up so i can clean up the engine and bolt it in for good. I have to do something about getting a ke70 column and knuckles, i have a few pms to reply to about this.

Hey mate i have done lots and lots of factory cut and shut looms, full car looms and eftermarket ecu installs, on this car i plan to run the stock ecu and piggy back an adaptronic in so the gearbox still drives as normal etc, if you like i can take notes on what wires go where to get it running, i have never done a stock 1uzfe ecu before but i will work it out.
-
Yeah mate pick away, mine had a 55 crossmember in it and it had to stay to keep the correct lower control arms to suit the struts, from my measurements with the stock crossmember and steering the engine would probably fit better and lower. The tunnel though needs to be quite large so this will be the only majorish obstacle. I trial fitted a vs radiator last night and with a bit of trimming here and there should get it in with a 12" fan and still fit an intercooler out front. The turbo will sit up behind the passenger head light, similar to my old vh but alot tighter. Here is pic of my old vh.

I had so much fun at powercruise, its awesome to be able to give it all its got and not have to worry about some nasty blue and red lights popping up in the rear view :rocknroll: In the end with the 13bt i had roughly the same power as what the 1UZFET will have but less torque, the 13bt had no problems, i will see how it goes with a 1uz, it has a dodgy strut brace setup on it already and the engine bay is seem welded and really max tyre size will be a 235 et radial so lack of traction will limit the twist a bit, The 2jz one however has 275 et radials with room for more so the cage ties into the struts and i have put chassis connectors in it and another moly crossmember under the intercooler. I made the engine mounts last night and i am onto the crossmember, had a quick look before i called it a night and its easy so by end of tonight the engine will be sitting on its own mounts. Looking at trying an adaptronic ecu, very featured and very good price, also purchased a 2nd hand tial 44mm gate and a 800hp turbo :jamie:

Yeah luckily my wife is a school teacher and she has hours of planning to do each night :rocknroll: the trade off though is i pretty much lose shed time on the weekends. Cool i have been seeing quite alot of traffic to my web of late (not today lol, adsl2 issues) i will need to start finishing stuff or i might get a reputation for not soon. For some reason i just can't bring myself to sell corollas, i plan to finish this one off with about 430rwhp, make it tough as nails and reliable and let wife / mates drive it at powercruises and other car events while i drive the 2jz one.
-
Ha ha cheers mate :rocknroll:, without my silly little projects i'd go mad. I deal with kids in morning, then i goto work, after work i chase parts if needed from 4:00pm-5:00pm, i spend 2 hours after that doing kid stuff, dinner, get them to bed by 7:00pm then i change into the daggies, hit the shed, turn the tunes on :jamie: try to finish doing loud stuff by 8:30 as i have a pain in the arse sook neighbour one side of me and a police man the other haha. Usually call it a night somewhere between 11-12pm. Weekends are a bloody write off i spend it being a child entertainment system. lol Made the straps to hold the rack in last night and bolted it all in. Clearanced some bits on the firewall and back of engine, on the test fit i got the engine back a further 20mm. I don't think this car is going to be a lead tipped arrow as i first thought, i would say more than 50% of the engine / gearbox weight is behind the front axle line

Ha ha i used to have a mate that helped out with my stupid projects he was nick named ferret lol Anyone got a KE70 or equiv steering column, knuckles and shaft?
-
Oh and some pics of the other car OKE020 2jz before i ripped it all out for machine work.

Hey all I have been getting bored awaiting parts from the US for my 2JZ KE20 so i bought back a KE20 i owned years ago and i have started fitting a 1UZFE, it will use a largish frame turbo similar to what i used in a previous 1UZFET Vh commodore i built. So far i have tidied up the seem welded engine bay and applied a base coat of toyota D3 Bamboo of course :lolcry: . The car already had a larger skyline tunnel in it and as hoped it swallows the a340e gearbox without a problem. The crossmember is KE55 i had to move it forward 20mm and move the lower control arms in 30mm to get the track and wheelbase back to standard ke20, the struts are from an ra40 celica and custom height adjustable and have koni shocks. The brakes are VT Commodore disks and calipers (still to mount the calipers). I have mounted a ke70 rack to the rear of the 55 crossmember, will need to find some shorter tie rod ends but looks like it will work. There is alot more room than what i thought, manifolds will be reversed landcruiser headers, should easily get both pipes up to a merge at the turbo that will sit behind the passenger headlight. Looks like i will be able to fit a vs radiator and fan aswell as a 75mm thick inter cooler behind the stock grill position. Here are some pics, i am trying to find KE70 parts, i need a steering column and knuckles and shafts, aswell as the rack clamps, does anyone have any parts?

My Turbo 13B KE20 used to eat those gearboxes for breakfast :P, would be flat out getting one meeting out of a box, i always found them behind any celica with an 18R in it, the 4 speed box from 18R powered corona is the same also but minus a gear, i ended up just buying corona 4 speed after corona 4 speed as these can be had for < $70 from most wreckers, well back then anyway. Thinking i might have a go at this turbo k stuff finally
-
Good show! love it :P
-
hehe i loved the old 13b, that setup was finally sorted when i sold it, but it had bitten me and cost me a packet to get it there, the 13b would never have been able to make the power i need for my 1hp/kg goal
-
Yeah mate that was me i sold the entire old setup to a guy in QLD, decided to go in a piston direction :P

2JZ KE20 is coming along slowly, i keep a log on my website http://www.oke020.com here are some pics. It looks pretty untidy at the moment but shes had some pretty extensive surgery :P

Hey all, i bought this KE20 from a local forum member, I intend to restore it back to as close to original as possible. I repaired some rust and panel damage in the engine bay and have painted it D3 Bamboo, i sourced a stock 3k and toyoglide etc, good radiator and stock exhaust. Everything has been installed back in the engine bay as close as i can remember to where it would have originally been. I found a bonnet and guard from another forum member and now have the car on the road. It drives awesome and is even better on fuel. I will need to rebuild the brakes soon. I have enough paint to do the entire car and i plan to gradually prep it panel for panel as i drive it to work during the day. I did not get any pics of how it was but this is a pic used in the original 4 sale add. And various pics of it up to its current state.

Are you talking about this one? if so its a mates car, ca18det, he is just putting a new motor and bigger turbo back in it now. Scott

Good stuff, looks neat as. -
Anyone? what about taller diff gears, have 4.4:1's at the moment, anyone got a ke10 centre with a different ratio?
-
I will be going for a 2 main reasons - i rarely get time to myself away from work and the responsibilities of my two kids and a wife, i am officially allowed to attend power crusies :D so its my time to vent, can't beat 3 days of camping amongst 100s of modified cars and like minded people, yes add a few beers and differences of opinion might become apparent but nothing that can't be walked away from. - i have lots of friends with cars with similar performance to mine and its not often that we get to go out and muck around on any strip of road longer than 400meters.
-
Hey all has anyone got a k50 they want to sell me? i am in brisbane and need one asap to take my ke10 on a road trip to eastern creek for PowerCruise 6 Cheers Scott
-
LOL, see how i go, the only complication i can see is parts places closing up for christmas, otherwise should be a goer in 3 weeks
-
Ouch, my other ke10 might be getting a points dizzy then lol
-
Hey all just about got everything to piece together my turbo 4k for my shitta KE10, will be having 3 weeks off from friday and plan to get stuck into it. Snipet from jamies FAQ Toyoglide Most auto corollas were fitted with the japanese Toyoglide gearbox. Earlier versions were 2 speed, later versions were 3 speed. Autos are wrong, you shouldn't use them. / Snipet Lol :D
