  1. Bucket seats are in dash painted, awaiting new dash pad, front window in etc progressing nicely until it came time to fix the shifter issue. Looks like the detent spring inside the auto is shagged so its most probably engine / box out and enginebay paint and detail time while i'm at it, annoying because i wanted to take it for a drive to keep the motivation going, good because it will be completely finished on first drive. ah well
  2. Yeah if i was single or had no overheads i'd by all over this like a fat kid on a cup cake.
  3. Ah yeah ok sounds responsible, perhaps being able to provide a roof over my families heads might impact a decision to change careers :D i have been thinking about changing jobs to something interesting for a few years now but always comes back to being able to take the wage cut until the apprentiship is through.
  4. Just for shits and giggles do you think you could find out what mature age apprentice wage would be?
  5. Stupid mortgage payments guarantee i will never afford the pay cut required to do a job i actually enjoy :D *violin music*
  6. Yes in stock form they seem good, mate of mine has a stock 13bt in his 11 sec manx buggy, he has had the engine in there for 8 years now even then it was an un rebuilt import engine, last i heard it still even had the same plugs in it :bash:
  7. Saved for future reference, wait till you start wanting more power, get the vaso ready
  8. I hope you used a relay? some fans draw up to and over 10 amps, over load the ignition circuit and your on the side of the road juggling fuses
  9. No offence but a 4age in a TA22 is hardly going to set the world on fire, granted there is scope for improvement with decent internals and the addition of a turbo but to achieve this you are going to be throwing a lot of coin at it, machine work, rods, pistons, headwork, cams, turbo gear, aftermarket management etc. A 1ggte will probably come close to producing similar performance in stock form. A 1JZ will well exceed the performance of all but maybe the most extreme 4agets, it will do it with a stock ecu and a whole lot more factory manners.
  10. everything is for sale lol, i pulled the head off it to have a squiz and looks good in there, don't want much for it, are you in brisbane?
  11. true i had a 1jz cressida, that little stock turbo'd 2.5 hauled arse even in a 1600kg land barge, oh i have an na 2jz sitting collecting dust under a bench in my shed if you go down that path
  12. aiming for a friday night maiden voyage
  13. Got some more done on this last night, interior panels painted, rear quarter rubbers restored and glass back in, new parcel shelf made, rear seat covered and back in, orig door cards cleaned up and re-installed, tonight i need to paint the lower dash section, put the front windscreen in and re-assamble the passenger door. might even start making brackets for the bucket seats. Will get some pics soon
  14. Yeah its been good fun so far, i still have to pull the engine out and paint the bay, hide the wiring and tidy up but that can wait a few months. There is still a few gremlins with the shifter and i need to cut and run the exhaust under the diff. My 3 cyl suzuki is just about to kick the bucket so this will become the new daily.
  15. I am now on the home stretch with this car, need to have it out of the shed by friday as i have a wild mini coming in for some work. Car now rolls on 14" corona rims and 185x14x70 series hercules whitewalls, this required ke30 front brakes, some mods to the spring seats (lol) and adjusting the radius rods to clear along with king superlows the front is now sorted. I bought a KE55 diff on friday night from a rollaclub member (legend) and after finally getting axles out (imagine 2 large chains, a large steel shed upright and a forklift plus chain jacks :P) to my suprise i found they are exactly the same length as the ones in the borg warner KE20 diff in the car. The only difference in length is from bearing to flange, with the 55 drums on the overall width looks to have increased by maybe 30-40mm, i have not measured as my desired wheel/tyre combo fits with no issues. I mucked around with a few different leaf setups and finally found one that sits the diff about 2" from the bump and at a height i am happy with. Here is a dodgy camera pic, this is before i reset the leafs lower. Really need to get it out in the sun for a look, should be driving by the weekend.
  16. I know where this car is now i think :), has been off the road for a long time, owner has done some very wild mods to it since this pic will be very different if he can find the motivation to get it back on the road. Think he mentioned he might even have to sell it.
  17. Perfect candidate for a 1jz :) more reliable, engine from a cut most probably wont need a rebuild, more power potential, cheaper, will be toyota/toyota, no over inflated rotary engine part tax etc
  18. You said it needs a tune so assuming you have aftermarket ecu it will most probably have a simulated tacho output. As for the speedo drive should be able to rip the electronic sender out of the box and adapt a cable to work with it. (could be wrong never looked at a w57 but most stuff is of similar design)

    Spotted Qld

Spotted this morning, original bannana yellow KE20 with performance challengers on it, stockish height at cleveland macdonalds, don't see many around my area anymore.
  20. fully
  21. lol a 1uzfe would be so chockers in a 10 bay but might just fit :) the buick v6s are cast iron blocks
  22. interesting conversion, what are you doing about clutch master etc? when i first seen it i though eeeww (i think the dirty ol commo v6 and auto is the most boring powertrain ever) but with a manual, some engine work and decent diff it should be a whole lot of fun to drive. Does it need the flares? and is the front apron staying?

this car from PR most probably has less rear end work and a realistically less potent setup than my car and runs into the  at only 149mph, mine 'should' leave straighter though as i have built a large anti roll bar for it to stop that twisting.

yeah the 516rwhp was on 98 octane fuel, and running no boost control so about 21-2psi, dyno power reading losses through a 6200rpm stall convertor and powerglide are substantial, i would safely say its making about 700 at the fly in current tune. I gestimate the way it is it should be good for 9.60s at 145mph odd, et could be lower for the mph but i don't think its ever going to 60' very well. The turbo is hardly working at the moment, another 10-15 psi and c16 fuel should put it at the 1000 flywheel hp i designed it to make. Although the bottom end has some very stout hardware i still pieced it together so we'll have to see if it lasts, at 1000hp i expect it will need frequent (50 passes or so) rod bearing checks and replacements. With the desired 1000hp (and if the car can be sorted to handle) should see it drop another second or so into the 8.60s. I also have capacity for up to 100hp shot of the good stuff aswell

cuzzo What do you mean? mr ae71, i have only had two passes, need to get it teched now before i can run it again, was a shake down pass, did a slow launch, 7k shift to top instead of 8800rpm and drove through for a 10.30 @ 140mph, i have no boost control hooked up so its running on gate springs, around 21psi and on straight 98 octane fuel  i have another 20 or so PSI of boost to go plus 116 octane fuel, i just have to keep sneaking up on it though over the next year so can work out what the car can/can't handle.
