It's never too late to start! Might even find yourself a new passion *hint hint*

It's a pain when you end up having to pay a mechanic more than the cost of the car to get it on the road again. We have a simple term for a shady tree mechanic here. Cash job ;) Check out the RollaClub Map (top middle of screen on navigation bar of website) and see if anyone nearby can help out and offer them a bit of cash for it. I'm sure there would be atleast 1 member in the area that could give you a hand and teach you how to change a head gasket on a 4A. Do you know if it's a 4AGE or 4AFC? If it's a 4AGE it will have "Toyota Twin Cam 1600" on the top of the engine next to the spark plug leads. People would be a little more common to changing 4AGE head gaskets on here, nevertheless a 4AFC would be similar if not easier.

Both were same era KE70 gearboxes, though. The only exception is that the new gearbox is from a 4K and the engine that it's now bolted up to is a 5K. I've done the gearbox swap before with another 5K without problems. Do they sometimes run a different clutch setup? Thus making the theory that the thrust bearing is a wrong one correct! Sounds a lot warmer than everything else said. Oh how I hate changing gearboxes for free. ;)

Whoah! Stock rims ;) I've had my fun out at the skid pan. Pretty good fun, although if you went to Marulan it'd be a fair bit more cost effective. Quite a hefty pice to slide on a slippery 50x50m slab of concrete.

Will S13 Suspention And Brakes Fit On My Ke70
seabiscuit replied to hectic20s's topic in General Mechanical
Is there anybody with a real EG for us, Hectic20's? I think you should change the username before you ask any more EG questions. In short - your question is horribly thought over. Do some EG researching such as "KE70 s13 EG" ps. the EG stands for a word - try and fill in the EG's! -

well you need to eg eg the shocks and eg the eg's with some eg. Then you should be E effing G! -
It's a KE70 The previous gearbox was horrible, BUT the car drove fine with it.. It just made a hell of a lot of noise. Meaning the clutch/pressure plate/flywheel were all intact and working. The only thing that has been changed was the gearbox being swapped over so there was no need to touch the clutch gear. I even tried using my hand to pull the clutch fork to disengage the clutch that little bit more but it gave me the same results of a grinding reverse gear selection! I think corollaart may be onto something. When I put the new gearbox in, I'd left everything as was so didn't play around with any of the clips or the thrust bearing.

Very nice car mate. Shame you can't keep it clean very often. Aren't the rims 14" (not 15") MA61's? I like the twin carb air box. Is that from the early KE sprinters?

Hi Everyone, Well I've been trying to get this car up to scratch for a roadworthy and needed to change the gearbox in it because it simply needed changing. What my problem is now is the clutch doesn't seem to be fully disengaging when the clutch pedal is all the way down. When I try to put it into gear it is always hard to do so and reverse grinds horribly until it's "in" gear.. The strange thing is, when I let go of the pedal the friction point is around half-way through pedal movement rather than right at the floor. ALL of the gears are hard to push into gear. We've tried adjusting the clutch cable to give us maximum clutch disengagement but doesn't seem to make a difference, have read the Gregory's manual a bit but it doesn't seem to be a great deal of help. Surely someone has few solutions or can help with some deductive reasoning before I end up calling the mechanic!

Expect to have a fairly reliable daily 5K (best option IMO) making around 65rwkw if worked to be fun. That is including cam however. If you are doing the mods you say that you're already doing I suggest modifying the cam also. I still get 500+ km per 45L tank in mild suburban driving and made it to 600km travelling to Sydney and back recently! This was better than when it had the stock 4K and mine now has 5K with cam and all the other mods. In fact, the right cam choice could be an efficiency and power increase. 5K is better than 4K for economy because of the larger bore since it doesn't need as much fuel to push up hills.

It works Evan..... :rolls:

I'm sure if you spoke to an auto-electrician they'd put you in the right direction straight away. It could possibly be a stuffed relay.

That's awesome mate. Such a sweet shape this car has. You need JDM rims :rolls:

Unless you can afford a beams Altezza package.

:P What's it look like? Have you used it? Does it get in the way? Does it work? Well?

What Engine To Put In My Ke70? N/a And Carbed
seabiscuit replied to lanceishere's topic in Engine Conversions
I've heard that 7MGE's are pretty big engines! Cannot give you an answer, though. Running on carby will only make it less efficient and a probably lose only a small amount of power, but if tuned right can be almost as good. ITB's for the win  -
That it does

Thought I'd bring it over to the right topic! I have a fair bit of stuff lying around that I'm not likely to use such as starter motors, alternators and the like, but I do have an almost complete 4K engine with a blown headgasket and a couple of panels/bumpers. Here's my most recent for-sale thread updated today. Some stuff you guys will probably be interested in. Special prices for Canberrans  ps... If you want some get it before tomorrow. (Go-karts :jamie:) so call me if you're keen. 0424240649

Wreckers would be a good place to start mate. Try Queanbeyan Auto Dismantlers and Ezy Scrap (Mitchell). They deal with those era of cars more than others.

Again doing great on the progress, Evan. Which carburetor have you fitted to the daily? You may need to fit a primary throttle return spring. I had the same problem with my 32/36 Weber. eBay has everything you need Everything seems to be coming along nicely for you mate. You must have some good funds coming in to do all of this work so quickly... Or have nothing better to spend it on :bash:

Being different has its compromises (example 3Y). 1 - Power 2 - Torque 3 - Unknown cost 4 - Awesomeness 5 - Weight 6 - No knowledge/research available for conversion 7 - Your member will stay dry Being normal has its benefits. (example 4age) 1 - Power 2 - Don't need torque with 8,000RPM power 3 - Very easily estimated cost (and will probably cost less than a 3Y conversion) 4 - You are the king of awesome 5 - Light enough to handle 6 - Wealth of knowledge on internet 7 - :)

I think the Mazda fans will rant about it more than us folk. As long as you don't put a Mazda badge on the Corolla. I've seen it done before and it made me a sad, sad panda.

You tell him, Tom  Pics or it didn't happen.
