Where Can I Get Window Rubber For Ke55 Coupe
daggers57 replied to clausy's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I bought a rear windscreen rubber for my 55 from the same people but havn't fitted it yet. Did yours fit o.k.? Toyota GENERAL parts, what a pisser! -
Just thought I would add my 2 cents. While my 'rolla is off the road I drive my 1998 Nissan Pulsar. It was getting around 9.5L/100km but then I did a full service and am now getting 8.3L/100 km, amazing what a service can do! Most of this driving is on the freeways but I drive it hard and use Shell V power fuel.

That technique to remove the ignition works on almost every car ever built. Pretty much every lock has a hole somewhere on its outer case that allows access to the retaining pin. If you would like to do a tech article, I will try to rustle up some photos and diagrams etc to add. You can also add a PM link to the article so people can ask me questions if they get stuck. I was a Locksmith for years and still enjoy the odd job from time to time!

Spend most of my time in the garage woodworking or trying to finish renovating my verandah. I built a wall at the end of it and put a 32" LCD tv in it complete with hamock so I can watch the cricket in the backyard this summer! :hmm:

You Guys Thought The Eleanor Corolla Was Ugly Check This Out
daggers57 replied to comtoy's topic in Automotive Discussion
holy shit, I just vomited! makes the Eleanor rolla look good! -
Hey great idea! 265 Hemis go like stink if you set them up right just look at the E49 RT Chargers they ran the same 1/4 mile time as the much overrated XY GT HO which had a 351 and 4 speed vs the Charger with a 265 and 3 speed I was up in Albury for the Chryslers on the Murray car show the other week and saw a 265 hemi with a pretty serious turbo the guy is from Melbourne and has done an awesome job. I first saw this car on the Eastern fwy and nearly crashed trying to get a better look! It still needs bigger injectors so he hasn't really seen what it's capable of but should fly! Good luck I would love to see a turbo 265 in a corolla. Might want some chassis strengthening though!

Alternator Signal Coming Out Of My Speakers???
daggers57 replied to baggus's topic in Car Electrical
use search button for supressor basically you are getting interference from your power supply check all earths for your stereo and amp are making good contact make sure your rcas to the amp are run on the opposite side to the power supply and get a new noise supressor for the coil and alternator that should do the job! -
I've always wanted to make led lights shaped like arrows <<< & >>> that flashed in sequence outwards. kind of like early Ford Thunderbirds (I think).

As a locksmith for many years it always amazed me how prices can differ so much from job to job. I assume you took the lock into the shop so at most I would have charged $33 to remove the key and between $14 and $44 to cut the key to CODE (not a duplicate), this involves sourcing the code, which is difficult with euro cars or reading the cuts on the broken key by eye and then entering them into a database to get the code which is then sent to a computer controlled key machine and hey presto a new key cut to the exact OEM specs. However, even with the latest version of Instacode, which is the most comprehensive database available, european manufacturers (particularly Porsche, Merc & BMW) are very reluctant to release data, so the info usually isn't there, this makes cutting the key somewhat of a hit and miss affair. But still $170 is far too much. P.s, Instacode cost several 1000s + annual updates @ around 200+ and the computer controlled key machine I used costs around $35,000 + 100s for adapters to cut different keys, so maybe this locksmith was just trying to pay off his machine quickly ;)

^ interesting, i'll take that on board

I got a quote for my ke55 which was priced as follows: 4 stud kits: Smooth disc kit $1300 Slotted kit $1400 Cross drilled and slotted $1450 5 Stud kits: Smooth disc kit $1250 Slotted kit $1350 Cross drilled and slotted $1400 I'm going for the 4 stud cross drilled and slotted  but only because i have more money than sense :hmm:

The name of a racehorse comes to mind, it was called WAFWOTAM it stood for What A F***en Waste Of Time And Money! But still, I suppose everyone has their own tastes and opinions. Hope it goes as fast as it looks!

7 shades, I take my hat off to you sir. Funniest photo I've seen in ages! :hmm: :( :lolcry:

try using Shellite it works well on pin stripes by softening the glue it's available from hardware stores next to the metho and turps. Just did my ke55 with it last week p.s always use a plastic scraper if you want to leave any paint behind! :D

yeah thats what I meant to say

check out How To Fix 'K' Motor Oil Leaks (Problems And Cures) I did exactly as instructed and have never had a single drop leak again amazing what a little gasket sealent will do!
-
Congrats on your purchase, I thought about bidding on this myself but the better half had other ideas, such as "finish the ones you already have before you go buying another one!" :) Fair enough I suppose. Good luck with the resto.
-
Congrats on finding such a neat rolla, whitewalls look great! Would make an awesome sleeper! 4AGE engines have been done a million times but I guess that makes it easy to get info. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Ask and ye shall recieve! Some more pics. For those unfamiliar with motor vehicles, this is the front. and this is the engine bay, notice if you will, the air-con pump that will hopefully keep me cool next summer without taxing too much HP. This is the air-con doner vehicle, purchased from QLD and trucked to Melbourne just days before I found one down here even cheaper! :D and this is my (wifes) brand spanking new Mazda 6 kid taxi which means that I get her old car (1998 Nissan Pulsar) and can take the rolla off the road and give her the resto she deserves! Stay tuned as my beloved Yellow Peril begins her transformation.
-
Use caution when sanding this vehicle as it looks like the paint is the only thing holding it together  Seriously though good luck with the resto, hope all goes well :P
-
Thanks for the encouragement. The guys at work refer to it as the Yellow Peril which I kind of like so that's what I call it now. Um, plenty of rust, in fact the bottom of the rear guards are so bad that when I got it I took a grinder to them and discovered by the time I got the rust out I could almost stick my head through the holes! Did a decent job repairing them for the roadworthy though. Stay tuned for pics when I get started with the respray! Other than that not much other rust and no dents. I will respray the car in a custom yellow color with heaps of gold pearl. Will lower it a bit but not too much as this will be my daily driver. The diff I'm not really sure about I think it has KE?? axles and AE?? centre it was built by a guy who wanted to rally race but never got his car finished. As for mags not settled yet but want something with 5 or 6 spokes in black with chrome outer ring. And yes I did mean a T50 gearbox, I think I may have located a K-T bellhousing!
-
Hey guys this is my little beast. Got some serious plans which will finally begin happening very soon! :) :) :D By the way the oil spots on the driveway are NOT from my rolla! Full bare metal respray very hot 5k T5 gearbox LSD diff (ready to go) New interior 15" or 16" mags Air con (ready to go) Power windows if possible Power steering if stupid enough Cruise control and any other stuff I think of along the way. :D More pics as the build progresses
