Need Opinions: Chrome Gutter Trims. Yes Or No?
daggers57 replied to e70van's topic in Automotive Discussion
Do it by all means but just one question. Where the hell did you source chrome gutter trim? I've been told it's rarer than rocking horse shit! -
I used CEVA transport to send a car from brisbane to melbourne, it cost $645 door to door. Only problem is that's a price for a car that is drivable, You may have to call them to get a price a non drivable car.

Hey mate, I used to be a Locksmith and still have all my tools, I work in Ringwood and don't mind dropping by after work one day to see if I can extract the key, shouldn't be too hard. If your interested send me a PM.

Air Con Do I Keep It Or Take It Out??ke70
daggers57 replied to wanzl's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Don't be silly mate, keep the aircon and get it serviced so you can use it for the upcoming summer. Corollas with aircon are rare as rocking horse shit. I had to buy a whole car and ship it down from Queensland just to raid the aircon out of it. -
^^^Nearly pissed myself, very funny Perhaps add multicoloured under car neons and 16 subwoofers to make sure it wont blend into the background too much! Otherwise, I think yellow is a cool colour, leave the vents as they are, add the front lip and rear spoiler (both in black) tint the windows and then start work on an engine swap/build when you have the cash. That's just my 2 cents worth. Good luck with the build, and remember, seek all the opinions you want, but at the end of the day do what YOU want as YOU will be driving it. :y:

While you've got the cable out, check for any kinks as this can also cause parkinson's in your speedo. If it is kinked, you may be able to fix it with pliers, (be gentle!) or it may need replacement. I think the inner cable maybe available from a gauge repair shop.

Very funny, But seriously, good idea. Thanks

Thanks guys. Was planning on welding the seam after cutting off the gutter. Bit concerned about getting wet though!:blinks: Might just give it a go and see what happens!

I'm talking about cutting the gutters off the roof as pointed out in the following photos. Can it be done? Has it been done? Should it be done? When I drive on the freeway will my roof peel open like a sardine tin? I want to do it as I think it will give the car a smoother appearance and besides the chrome is impossible to find, and before anyone suggests it, I have no intention of using adhesive chrome trim or anything similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Pete

Tha's got to be the first EVO engine in a Corolla I've ever seen. Looks awesome, what will you be using the car for; drift, drag or daily? Good luck with the build!

Not as bad as the 3.3 litre 200 ci my brother's XE had, it leaked oil and water and was completely gutless to boot!

Needs tuning I think :lolcry: The idea of a 280rwkw daily driven street legal corolla sounds enticing, but with only 7psi and a 4agte to play with, I'd say it's highly unlikely. To knock back NOS because it would be daily driven and illegal sounds funny to me considering the OP is talking about a 300kw 900Kg Corolla. That's a power to weight ratio of 1:3. The Ferrari Enzo with a 6L V12 has a ratio of 1:2.7 I think adding JATO rockets would only be slightly more crazy or impossible. BTW, I had no intention of installing them on the engine but merely duct-taping them to the roof. :lolcry:

^^ thanks mate your car looks awesome! Good choice of colours too really suits it well.

Hey I think VVT is a good system, but it's still no replacement for the rumble you get from a big V8. :lolcry:

Sorry should have been more specific. Want to go over the top of the car a bit like a HK Monaro except over the roof too.

Looking for something to break up the colour on my ke55 coupe, so does anyone know if Toyota had any racing stripes, particularly corollas?

Fastest car I ever owned was a 1985 Nissan Bluebird TRX series III with the shit heap CA20 8 sparkplug engine. Ported and polished head, bigger valves, custom intake with a 180 cfm Holley carby and no pollution gear crap. Went like shit off a shovel and hit nearly 180kph on a "private road".

Awesome build mate! Interior looks wicked, great job modifying the original dash. Love those rims, what are they called?

There is a product called "Shellite" that will lossen the glue without damaging the paintwork, beeen used by panel beaters to remove rubber strips and pin stripes for years. works brilliantly, just spray on liberally and let soak the peel the rubber off and spray more if needed. Then use a rag soaked in shellite to rub off the remaining glue. It is available from Bunnings and also at GOOD hardware stores. :blinks: sorry, forgot to mention it is VERY flammable as it is normally used as a fuel for kerosine lamps etc. and it will also bugger up your spray bottle so use a bottle that contained solvents already like PREEN or Sugar Soap!

absolutely hilarious, nearly peed myself. "replacement for displacement it's called VTEC" what a load of ass!

I would suggest picking up the phone and the yellow pages and calling every tow company in the ACT and pretend that your car has broken down about 50kms from home and get a price. That should give you an idea of what to charge. Do this at night and ask for a price, then say, "wow that's a bit steep, how much if I wait until the morning?". That way you get 2 prices with each call. Done this before with local locksmiths when my mate started his own company, and it worked perfectly.
