Clutch cable broke today while driving on Anzac Highway. Luckily just next the abandond petrol station where I managed to pull into. Also lucky I am a RAA member so I got a free tow home. :) Pretty happy with the outcome really.. Could have been much worse!

Hey mate nice score. Is that from toyoland londsdale? I thought they closed..
-
That sucks mate, getting T-boned is not fun.. atleast you're alright though. And atleast it was a commy haha and not a rolla. Hope it all goes well with insurance.

Cheers guys, yeah scott true about the visor, been loving it to be honest. I think it will stay for now. The stripes are annoying because you can't see shit out the back but then they are good because you can't see in either. As for what look I'm going for, I haven't really put much thought into, just going with what feels right I guess. Practicality comes first usually, which is why the stripes are going. But then pimp is also high on the agenda. :2thumbs: Head light visors? Definately an impulse buy haha.. and definately not practical... Bit different, probably illegal. Meh! Exhaust is going to be sticking out the side behind left rear wheel very soon. I WANT A KE36 REAR BUMPER!

Good effort mate, can't wait to see it finished :2thumbs:

CM36 (oops) definately still no ke36s tho

Hey everyone, I have done some work on my wagon again. Put the rear springs in and VERY happy with the feel of the rear end with an extra leaf and new bushes. Also still at a good height. Put some new shoes, well actually old shoes(1978 13" steelies), which I think look the part. They just need some fatter tires as the ones on there at the moment are from stockies and are thinner than what can be put on these ones. Also got the crown 14s up for sale if anyones keen.\ Been playing around with the tailgate seal to try and stop fumes getting in when the window is open. Got the seal good but still I can smell it. I am now thinking it might also be getting sucked in through the number plate light assembly. I think what I will do is get the exhaust out of that area, like make it come out the side rather than right under the tailgate. Has anyone had this kind of problem with wagons? Anyway heres a couple of pics of chrome wheels on and what a lovely day it is here in Adelaide today  Ps. the white stripes gotta go!

Hey, I thought it would be nice to share some treasure that you have found to give members the chance to grab that rare part you're after. U pull it or any other wrecker in Adelaide. I will start  Spotted a 5k motor at Lonsdale UPI in a CM36 van. Also a straight ke30 rear bar on a mustard ke30.

Dude this thing was lookin hell rat rod/mad max style in the first few pics, Loving it! I am also keen to know what colour?

This car is sweeeeet. And that engine bay is looking super tidy. Keep up the good work. :lolcry: how does is go with all the work done on the engine? good? chew petty? also about the wheels I rate that look it had with the white writing on the side like in the first pics.. but the walls are cool too. peace

Cheers. It's all going well. Am now taking the 4k engine and 5 speed gearbox out of the ke55. Almost ready to come out but got stuck. I can't get the clip ring holding the gear stick out. Whats the trick here? Or am I just not trying hard enough? Stupid gregory's manual just doesn't go into enough detail for stupid me..

Looks heaps better with the bumper mate, I'm glad you're happy with it. But yeah it took a hit on the drivers side where that ding is. Probably bent the mounts a bit. You should be able to get it straight though. If not grab some other mounts (make sure they are from the same style bumper as they are longer) and it will fix it. Also about the grill.. If you don't like the red, you should grab a can of export satin black $3 and give it a few coats after a bit of prep work. Should come up nice. :)

Been working on getting the rear end out of my 55 to put into the 38 as it's way fresher and I'm sick of the noise coming from the rear end of the 38. It also gives me a chance to sort out the rear suspension issues. So it's all out now and I've been getting it ready to go into the wagon. Here's a pic to show my leaf pack which will be going in. I bought these reverse eye leaves off slapper ages ago and never got to use them. He said when I bought them that he was hitting the bump stops and after experiencing a lot of that lately myself I decided to do something about it. With a couple of hints from Slo-030 I decided to put an extra leaf into the reverse eye pack. Saved me 190 bucks (which is what I got quoted) and found it to be a fairly easy task. This pic was taken at the half way point, with one extra leaf in and other pack still without. It's pretty much an experiment. I have no idea what it's going to be like after. Like how hard it will be and what height it will be.. But it's surely better than blocks that make me hit the stops all the time. I want to go on a road trip in this beast sooner or later so just trying to sort out all the mechanical stuff first. Then I will make a bigger effort on the body work and get it looking even better. Cheers

About that fish.. I'll take him! Thats if you haven't got rid of him already, I have an aggressive tank and I would be very surprised if he's king of the tank here.. lol :) Have you started on rebuilding the struts? Would be keen to see what you do with them.. It's good to see some progress.. Starting to come along nicely. Plans for paint?

spotted ke36 wagon for sale on gumtree for 350 looks shmick! Hope someone on here buys it. Or have they already??

Nice work. Those wheels look like a good fit and chrome too :jamie: The bumper looks ok too even with the number plate lights.. Is that bolted on or just sitting there? With the mounts could you maybe put ke38 mounts onto the ke30 bumper? Or don't they fit? I'm thinking about doing that if I can't find a ke36 bumper so let me know if you're going to make some mounts I would be keen for a pair. You still after that front apron? Cheers

Thanks for the help. I have now taken the diff out of the ke55 and am getting the parts ready to put into the wagon. Is there anything I should renew while its all out? I was thinking I would put new oil in the diff and get new bushes for the leaf spring eyes. How do you put bushes in? They seem to be pretty tricky things to remove and replace. Also I am going to be putting another leaf in my reverse eye pack and was wondering which leaf I should put another one of? Would having two of the smallest leaf do much in terms of spring rate and load capacity? Or would it be better to put another one of the bigger leaves in? My main objective is having a lowered rear end without hitting the bump stops. Cheers Chris

I have queries which I thought I would share with you all because someone might know the answers. Or at least be able to share some advice. So currently I have at my house a ke55 which is being stripped and parted out while attempting to take the good bits(which there are plenty) and put them onto my ke38 wagon. JiP sparked me off by asking about my ke55 Air Conditioner. Why am I not selling it? Well the ke38 has air conditioning but it doesn't work, so I was hoping to use parts from the 55 a/c to get it working. Problem is I have no idea what is wrong with the ke38 a/c, what bits need to be changed, whether it's worth changing the entire a/c or if it needs a refill.. I just don't know where to start with it. The heater also doesn't work :) so maybe it's got something to do with that? Next question is about the diff. The rear end of the 38 wags is heaps noisy. Squeaky brakes and noisy wheel bearings. So I thought why not swap entire diff and rear brakes from the 55 into the 38? Are they the same ratio? It's a straight swap right? That's all for now. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Chris

Haha yes I know, not much rolla in that photo. It was meant to be huge but photobucket resized it ;) Here's another from same day. Sporting a freshly painted bonnet with nice straight chrome strip. Couldn't get a perfect fit on it though. I'll have another shot at it sometime. This is what I have done to the interior. Removed centre consol. Added black carpet, ke55 door trims with ke55 stock speakers, wooden beaded seat cover and replaced faulty handbrake lever... Dodgy as DIY glovebox install.. And my latest addition is a pair of headlight visors. Crap pic but you get the idea. Keen to get some nice round mirrors. Was thinking peep mirrors but I have read they are useless on passenger side. Also keeping an eye out for chrome roof rack and chrome rear bar. Cheers Chris

This is a cool car! Looks great. It's a pity about the rust. The paint looks good from the side :( but the roof and rust bits do not. :P What are the plans? Going to repaint it? And by te37 replica you mean you want the american style front end and rear lights ? Show us a pic of your inspiration! Cheers ps. If you are going to repair it I may be able to help you with rust cut sections. I have a rust free ke55 sedan you can come cut out of. Pm me if you're interested.

Hey sorry to bring thread up from the dead but does anyone have a contact name/number for the owner of this place? There is a part on the property that I really really want and can't find anywhere else. Cheers Chris

HAHA wow cheers for the pic! Would love to get it to that standard again. Including white walls. It looks sweet as in that pic. Even got a white taggy in the background! Thats just awesome, seriously. The white striped windows are just stickers, I think the dude who used to own it worked at a sticker company or something.. but I'm keeping them atleast until I get some real venetians for it. I should get a rolla club sticker for it too :P To answer your questions Josh.. The subwoofer has huge amount of bass, it's quite stupid. And if you want to vibrate the entire car, you could! But I don't really put it on that loud very much. It is a clearer sound when it's at a nice low level. The exhaust is still the same as i got it, came up nice with a bit of a polish. With the paint I am going to use only Killrust(about $50 worth) and probably use a roller for most of it. It's strong paint and beats paying hundreds if not thousands on a full respray. I have managed to get a good finish that I am happy with so I will continue with it. The preparation and sanding is very important. HERE is a link to where I learnt how to do this method. There's hundreds of pages of info and ramble about it... I spent many hours gathering info from that thread.. G'night

Hey, there has been a lot of progress here are SOME of the things I have done.. (just the ones I can think of right now) -Steering box? swapped for newish one... the bit thats in the engine bay. No more sloppy steering! :D -Rust repairs. Not using a welder but still better than nothing. -Interior stuff- Centre console out. ke55 Black carpet and ke55 front door trims with speakers in. Glove box has CD player. Alpine amp and 10"sub are in. !BOH SELECTA! (bass fiend) :) -Paint- Got some Wattyl Killrust White, which matches nicely, that I will slowly be painting the car with. Have done front quarters and front apron and rust repair spots. Looking good so far. -Front lowered level with back. This is the worst of the rust (just under the tailgate where the rubber goes). I cut the whole shelf off because it was so bad. But now it's not sealed so I drive with the windows closed or fumes get sucked into cabin.. Might try to get some kind of rubber strip than can be stuck on maybe.... :D Still needs a clean but I like what I see. New Bonnet going on as soon as it's painted up. Including much better chrome strip. :) Future plans Ke36 rear bumper Extra rear leaf + reversed eye rather than blocks. 5k 5 speed + new clutch Paint + more
