Hey, I need some help, I am trying to put square head lights (from 1980 ke55) on a round headlight model car (1979 ke38). There seems to be different brackets and i can't get them to fit. Has anyone done this and got any tips? I have found people do the swap the other way round from square to round.. But i like square headlights. Cheers

Looking good. Those wheels are definitely cool .. Much rust on the body? Good to see you have got some new plates. I have heard of lots of people getting pulled over for worn out plates like your old ones recently.

Cheers. The Digital Designs stuff was taken out before the sale. He did leave a JVC head unit in the glovebox and there is still the cables to run a sub and front speakers just no amp or anything. I have an order in for 1 Alpine 10inch sub from JBs :lol: but its taken like 2 months already. Alpine is hard to get apparently. Yeah its got aircon :osama: but I will believe it when I feel it.. Its also got Crown 14 inch stockies on it which I rate highly. I'll get some progress pics up soon...

Hey, I just bought this wagon and I thought I should make a thread to show it off and get help and ideas etc etc. The car is a white(originally yellow) 1979 ke38, it has done 285000 ks and has a 4k with a 4 speed manual. Its a bit rough in areas(rust, dents, scratches) but overall I am very happy with this car. The interior is fair good. Engine bay not so good, runs fine, just been massively neglected cos last owner had no time for it. Anyway heres photos of the day after I bought it. Visor and all..... Random fake exhaust. (lol). Loving the rear end.. looks even better now its clean and fixed number plate and dent/paint. this is the good side Talk about neglect, this is how it was being driven and there was no brake fluid... cobwebs on the air filter. Since then I have cleaned it up alot and fixed a fair few things. but I will post more some other time. Cheers Chris

So the latest news on my rolla is that it is a write off. :sob: Got T-boned by a Magna wagon. Got no pics to show but the passenger side is crunched badly. The middle window piller is bent in so much that the roof is bent and the front left pillar is bent so that the windscreen cracked and doors are mashed and can't be opened. Was lucky there was no passengers at the time because they may have been hurt. HOWEVER I am not giving up on the old corollas and I am looking for another one of around the same age so that I can use this car as a parts car as it still has a lot of good parts I am thinking maybe a wagon but haven't found anything yet..

Thanks that doesn't sound too bad. I guess the most important part would be to make sure the seller is trustworthy and that the car has not had a dodgy engine transplant or something? What about cars that are just a shell or just without a motor? I am looking for a ke3# or 55 but there doesn't seem to be many for sale here in SA, so driving one back here is an option. even on a trailer. I have a full ke55 which is a write off but with all mechanical parts still perfect so I am either going to buy one without most running gear cheap or get a running one and then part the old one out.

Hey, If a car is from interstate what is needed for it to be registered and legal in SA? Does it have to be safety checked? What level of checking is it? Anyone ever done this? Cheers

Thanks everyone. Been great driving it around last couple of days. Heaps of positive feedback! Everyone loves the paint + extra chrome and so do I. The car runs better now too! :bash: Near future plans are- - Purchase K-mac custom height front springs and install them as well as my inverted eye leaves. - Upgrade sound system so I can actually hear it. Distant future plans- - Either 5k or some work on the 4k, maybe Weber + extractors or something.. will have plenty of time to think it over though!!

OK so I have it back on the road again very happy with how it turned out. Colour is very bright and glossy. I love it! It certainly grabs your attention... Here comes the pics.... What do you think? Apart from needing to be lower hehe which is the next thing I will be doing. :bash:

Hey, I reckon paint your grill all white (option number 3) white looks good with the red car and matches the white theme you have. A bit different too? Then paint the windscreen trims white too :bash: if they are faded that is.... Anyway it will look good with black too.. but not AS good haha
