  1. Mate, if they`re not rubbing by too much you can buy wheel spacers from almost any aftermarket parts outlet. Up to about 8mm won`t need longer studs. But over that you will need to buy the expensive type that bolt to your hub and the wheels bolt to them. Cheepies, $25 +/- expensive $200 +/- Good luck.
  2. Try this website. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FRONT-COIL-SPRING-T...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  3. Mate, keep an eye on ebay. There`s a guy in England thats been advertising ke70 springs new and at reasonable prices.
  4. G`day mate, your car is looking great so far. Is there a possibility that you know the brand of the steel wheels with the Hoosiers on them please. I have a set of 15x8 on my Landcruiser that were there when I bought it and I would love to go with the same type on my ke70 if I can find them. I`ve looked everywhere that I can think of but no luck so far. Keep up the good work on your rolla.
  5. Mate, they look brilliant. A nice ste of chrome nuts will set them right off. Glad to see that someone out there is not afraid to think outside the square.
  6. Hey, good thinking 99, we used to do this type of modification to wheels way back when I was a boy, before wide rims and mags became commonplace. They look exceptional if you get the rims chromed when they are apart and then paint the centres black when you weld them back together. Try drilling your new valve stem hole diagonally opposite the old one to defeat any balance problem that may occur and rather than weld up the old hole, just fill it with a screw in stem from a tyre dealer. ( check caliper clearance first). If you shop around you will find that there are wider rims that fit your centres too. Like 7" ford or holden rims maybe. Its a cheap way of having a tuff set of good looking rims for next to not much. Anyway, have fun with it and don`t tell the coppers coz its highly illegal.
  7. Thought that I mightas well chuck in my two bob worth. What really grinds my gears is people that want to heavily modify Corolla engines, adding all sorts of "go fast" stuff and then winge about poor fuel econony. My daily is a petrol Landcruiser that uses a whole heap of fuel, but it is doing what it was designed for. Providing me with a whole lot of fun. My 'Gorilla" by comparrison uses a bit more than the average Corolla because I choose to run a hotty motor. It`s doing what I designed it for. Providing me with a whole heap of fun. If you want fuel economy, leave your engine as Mr. Toyota designed it, or put up with the poor fuel consumption that you have chosen to go with. Finished bitchin` now, see ya.
  8. Sorry mods, zigged when I shoulda zagged.
  9. No worries mate, There should be a gazillion of them lying around out there somewhere. Hang in there and someone will come to the rescue.
  10. Here`s another site to have a look at. http://www.tighecams.com.au/cars.htm You can actually ring them and explain what you want to do and they will reccomend a cam grind for you. They are a very reputable company and have been in business for a dogs age.
  11. G`day mate, there are two types of these caps. one has a raised centre and one has a sort of concave centre. I`ve got both here that are in reasonable condition and if you send me a reply paid sachel you can have them for free. Polishing/repainting is up to you. 0407126555
  12. G`day mate, is that the dead one you were trying to flog in the back yard or did you build another one?
  13. G`day all, in another thread there is discussion about the possibility of fitting a 4age head onto a 4afc block. A while ago I asked for assistance/information anout fitting a 4afe into a ke70 and was told in no uncertain terms that it won`t go in because of the distributor/firewall problem. I am happy to accept that advise, but still have the motor and all wiring /ecu etc and am still keen to do a conversion away from a 4K. (I have a complete rolled AE 92) I believe the 4afc/afe block to be one of the same, so can someone tell me yes or no, whether a 4age head will indeed bolt on. That would give me a distributor that faces the right way after installation. I understand that the inlet manifold will need to be cut and shut and that doesn`t present any real problems. I want to do this conversion mainly because a stock 4afe has to be better than a 4k any day. Thanks in advance for your comments.
  14. G`day, just wanna jump in on the end of this because a while ago I asked for ideas on fitting a 4afe to a ke70. I was talked out of it because of the difficulty involved with the rear mounted distributor. Am I now to believe that it may be possible by changing to a 4age head on my 4afe block???? I`d still like to go ahead with the swap because a 4afe has to be better than a 4k any day of the week. Correct??? Thanks in advance.
  15. G`day mate, the carby, cam ,exhaust combo, added to extractors will help give you a bit more power, but nothing startling. It`s not gunna turn it into a drift car. Check the link to the thread about building a tuff 4k. I found it to be a great help when I started the rebuild on my 4k. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...a_tough_K_motor Good luck with the build.
  16. Mate, way back in the early 70`s when I had a ke10 with webers, I used to get it tuned by a company named GP Cars in Brisbane. They were right into a corolla powered open wheeler using a K motor, but i have no clue what class it raced in. At Lakeside Raceway, if there weren`t enough competitors in a class, they would combine classes and run staggered starts. GP Cars still operates today but no doubt the ownership may have chaged over the years. You`ll find them on the net and maybe they might help out with a few answers. Good luck.
  17. G`day mate, I used an electronic speedo from a bicycle on one of my motorbikes years ago and it worked just fine. There was a sender attached to the front rim and a pickup attached to the front fork with a single wire running to the speedo. Very accurate setup. The only thing that crapped me off was tha the speedo was a digital readout type and kept flicking from one number to another. I`m not sure how the speco works but I would imagine that it would have to be a similar setup. Good luck and let us know if you work it out.
  18. Have a look here mate. www.transport.sa.gov.au/pdfs/personal_transport/light_vehicles_pdfs/Info_bulletin_3.pdf
  19. G`day mate, hope the piccy works out ok. I know what you mean about after market tachos with shift lights being a cop magnet. I chose to keep the standard clock, coz it does come in handy sometimes, but I didn`t want a red beacon on top of the dash and I really hate those pillar mounted jobbies. You may or may not like where I`ve mounted my tacho and gauges, but they are out of the way bt are still easy to see.
  20. G`day mate, I haven`t actually worked on a 4A motor, so I am assuming that the plugs in question will be similar to the 4K variety. They have some alloy plugs and some steel plugs. Because the acid dipping process uses a hot caustic solution, it is not impossible that the alloy ones will be effected. Maybe not on the outside, but where there has been scale buildup/corrosion on the inside. What I personally would do,considering the minor extra cost, is replace them all just for peace of mind. You have obviously done the right thing by your engine having it bored, new pistons etc so it would be a tragedy to have a "new" motor fail because of a set of welsh plugs that cost very little and are a simple job to fit. Good luck with the build.
  21. G`day Mods and thanks for picking me up on the camshaft speed thing. My blue. The quoted min and max for the 25/65 came from Dean Tighe just a few days back, but I agree with you that combined engine package can and will have a big influence on a reground cam. I was keeping it relevant to the motor being discussed, that will probably only have a freshen up and not much else. If it were me, I wouldn`t waste my time of money putting in a hot cam without all of the other things mentioned in the thread on 4K`s. Anyway, thanks.
