  1. The link won't work for gumtree but just go on gumtree and type in ke30 in Burnie-Devonport region for pictures :) SALE OR SWAP Will let it go for $2,500 this week only. As I have found a ute for sale 1976 toyota corolla ke30 Has had a 1600 twin cam 4-AGE conversion. 5 speed celica box, heaps of fabrication work to get it where it is now. Interior has been gutted out. Now has 2 racing seats, harnesses, momo steering wheel, extra gauges, big fuel pump set up consisting of a lift pump, 1.5L surge tank, and a high pressure fuel pump with oversize fuel lines. Firewall fabricated for where the back seat used to be housed as the fuel set up is in the boot. Battery relocated to the boot, 13" jellybean wheels, lowered king spring up front and 2" lowering blocks in the rear. Probably other things that i haven't listed. If interested text or call me on 0458 523 578. Ideally I'd like $3,500 but very negotiable. I could throw in a complete registered AE82 twincam for spare parts for the right deal. NO REGO AS IT WAS INITIALLY BUILT AS A PURE TRACK CAR. SELL OR SWAP Burnie area.
  2. If interested text or call 0458 523 578 :)
  3. This thing is 99% complete now. Very upsetting but I'm now Having to sell now though as circumstances have changed and needing the cash. Only a few minor things need doing. For the right deal I can throw in my complete ae82 4age rolla for spares and possibly my tandem trailer. $3,000ono for the ke30. If interested we will work something out with the Ae82 and tandem. Thanks.
  4. Now I've just got tailshaft to go, the missus will be dropping that in tomorrow. NOt sure how long they will take to shorten it, balance it and paint it? Not too far away now though :-)
  5. My theory was correct. I reset the valve timing after work and I had the car running within minutes. It was such a stupid thing to overlook but I'm glad I've figured it out and is now running. Such a good day to hear it finally run after so many setbacks and headaches. Cheers.
  6. Found out previous owner had taken the dizzy out. After work i'll go and reset the valve timing. Beginning to think that the piston is, infact on its up stroke while exhaust valve is closed. Leaving intake valve open. That would be why i'm getting backfiring out of the intake manifold/throttle body and sometimes even flames. Cheers.
  7. Ok so I now have fuel, spark and ignition. Problem I'm having now is with cranking. Engine sounds like it has way too much compression or something. For some reason it sounds as though the battery is flat whilst cranking. Upon pulling the starter motor out for inspection I found nothing wrong with it. I put another one in that I had laying around and had the same scenario. Checked volts at the starter and its getting 12.8 volts as the battery is too. I also tried 3 different batteries just to be sure, ranging from 180cca to 280cca. This did not help either, still the same as before. Took spark plugs out to get rid of all compression and the motor cranked over smoothly. All pistons going well. I thought there may be way too much pressure in the crankcase for some reason. But I highly doubt it. I haven't touched the timing what so ever so I don't think that it a factor. Previous owner denies touching it but you never know. Thinking about it now makes me wonder if the timing may be so far out of whack that the exhaust valves may be closed while the piston is on the up stroke. May be a factor. Ie. Too much compression. I've come to a mental blank with this. Tried just about everything I can. I'm sure that it is something simple and stupid that I've overlooked. I hope that someone has had the same problem and could enlighten me as to what the problem was. Cheers guys. Mark.
  8. Thats what i thought too. I guess we have pretty much confirmed this now. Thanks heaps for your help mate. Other news, i was playing with the corolla all day today and still can't get a spark. Ive checked all of the obvious things and a few other things that i had read on the internet that i didnt know about. STILL NOTHING! Very frustrating. :bash: Persistance will get it though i guess, just gotta keep playing around until i find something that i have missed! Also i just thought that i'd tell you guys that this is the first fuel injected engine that i have wired up so its all relatively new to me. I am also wondering whether i have to run a fuel regulator on the 4A-GE? At the moment i have the fuel line running from the fuel pump it goes up to the engine bay, connects to the fuel filter which then goes to the front of the fuel rail, afterwards it runs into my return line at the back of the fuel rail then proceeds back to the surge tank and so on. Is this how i should have it setup? Really appreciate the help guys, this is why i love rollaclub!
  9. This is a fairly stupid question, i have a rough idea but i just want to be 100% sure abut it. Is this 4age a bigport? You get a good visual of the intake ports on the 6th photo from the bottom. From what i've heard the bigports are more elongated where as the smallports are more of a round shape? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  10. So it has been a while since i have posted. I have been hard at it for 4-5 weeks and I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.I am now in the process of wiring. I have wired everything up. It whinds over but not starting. Its got fuel, injector pulse, coil has got power, the dizzy just isnt giving any spark. Very frustrating as it is so close to going. If anyone has had the same problem, let me know the root cause/s of your problem. Below there is just a whole heap of random pictures i have just uploaded to show the progress i have made lately. Hope you enjoy looking at them. Give me some feedback as to what you think of it. Cheers fellas!
  11. I'll be in if everything goes to plan.
  12. I'm after a centre console (the one that the gearstick comes through) Good carpet in any colour, prefer black. KE30 interia door handles, mine have all snapped. Reply on here but prefer text on 0408 019 872 because I'm not on here all the time Thanks, Mark
  13. Well ahh, lets just say i didn't buy them. And they aren't lowered. They're just sort of shortened. Grinder *Cough* :blinks: Thanks for the words mate. She'll be a beast very soon hopefully. Cheers, Mark.
  14. Hey guys, Just bought this corolla about 3 weeks ago. Its now my 6th KE30/55! This one is the best one i have owned bodywise. It has next to no visable rust =) I bought come 13x7 spitfires? they came off a mates datsun, then got them wrapped in some rubber. After getting the wheels put on i decided it was way too high so i decided to lower the front end. Its looking really good so far in my opinion. I've also got a 4A-GE to go in her. Thanks guys, Mark. Anyway here are some pictures. ^Just after getting the wheels put on. Standard height. ^ After i lowered the front. Yet to do the rear end... ^My Twin Cam to go in after i convert it to RWD. Yum =)
  15. Yeah mate I'll have to check it out. But my first concern is making up the engine and gearbox mounts haha Engine bay is tidied up now.. Well better than it was anyway. Put new brake lines in it. Over the Easter weekend there will be alot of work going into it I do feel :) Wiring will have started, if not finished. At least engine mounts will have been made, maybe the gearbox crossmember as well. Got some wheels ready to be picked up this weekend. Nothing too special just some 13" by 6.5"-7" with no tires. Came off a datsun which I'm 99% sure are the same PCD both 114.3 I'm sure? Just need them for the extra tread ;) That's about it for now. Cheers, Mark.

  17. It'll just be a track car/ hillclimb car mate. I don't think I'd be able to register it legally. It should be a load of fun. Power to weight ratio ;) Cheers for the comments mate
  18. The corolla is now in my garage. So now it doesn't matter what the weather is like. It's all go from now on. Found myself a gearbox very cheap :) so I'll pick that up on the weekend and then mounts will be on the cards as well as some pictures :) Cheers
  19. That would be great if you can get pictures but if it's too much hassle don't worry about it :) Alright, I think I understand the design? From how you've explained it? Extractors will be a bit further down te line as ive 70% finished off my modified standard manifold. But after I get everything in and running sweet I'll start thinking about modifying/customising/improving things. Hopefully it will be worth the hassle of doing the conversion in the end. Thanks heaps mate :) Mark.
  20. Pics would be great if possible :) sounds like a beast. I need to make a decision soon. Auto or manual. Prefer manual but auto is so much easier to set up in my circumstance.
  21. Today I painted a few small things, bonnet hinges, those plates on the firewall a couple of small mounts and a few other things. Afterward I started modifying my exhaust manifolds to clear the steering box, cut and shut style. Although I have only cut so far. Shutting will be done around the same date as engine mounts and gearbox crossmember is made ect.. If anyone has a half decent bonnet in tassie I'd be very interested in having a look. Thanks, Mark
  22. Still havent found a gearbox, so i'll just skip that step and start doing other stuff, new lowered king springs next week with some kyb shocks. Is it worth my while getting the struts powder coated while they are disassembled? After that, new brake rotors and rebuilt calipers, new brake hoses. Might even rebuild the brake master cylinder, depending on how the brakes perform after everything else. Mark.
  23. Made a new build thread, this one is too old now, Thanks fellas. Mark
  24. Yeah pictures would be much appreciated thanks mate :) Turbo700 is an automatic, is that correct? If so, how does he like it being automatic? I would probably prefer it being a manual for hillclimbs ect. But any info would be great . Not an ecotec mate but it will still be much quicker than the stocko 1.3 :P Brakes will eventually be VP commodore, I'll just modify the whole VP strut to suit. Then start worrying about the master cylinder ect.. Thanks for the replies fellas. Mark.
  25. Okay so I bought a 3.8 v6 with computer and loom for the rolla at the start of February. So plans for it so far are as follows: Probably a welded diff under it, until i find a reasonably cheap alternative. (won't be road registered) Seam weld areas under most stress. Might have a crack at making up some bracing for front end, behind front guards. Take interia out except for front seats until I get sone racing seats and harnesses. Most likely have to shorten the tailshaft. Things i have done so far: - Cut the mounts off Corolla cross member. - Taken exhaust manifolds off to be modified. - Cleaned engine, free of oil, grime, dust ect.. - Removed alot of the wires i wont need So, the engine is sitting in the engine bay, need a gearbox to bolt up so i can make it all dead straight, then make up some mounts. Got a good mate that is an auto electrician by trade who is more than happy to wire it up for me for a carton. I'm after a T5 commodore box and belhousing if anyone knows of any? The wrecker wants way too much for them.. Also if anyone believes that the T5 won't fit in the gearbox tunnel of the corolla, let me know. :hmm: I've tried finding a supra box and modified bellhousing but I can't get hold of one easily. If and when I do come across one they are really expensive. Obviously, the w58 supra box would be ideal, although funds and ease of getting one keep getting in the way. :bash: Anywho these are some pictures of the progress ive made so far, this is just before i cut crossmember mounts off, so the engine sits alot lower now and due to taking the exhaust manifolds off it sits alot further back. :) Not much more visually to add at the minute, just a heap of fiddly stuff that is not camera worthy. Cheers everyone, Mark. :y:
