Cheers for the adivce ive read a few other guides and they were syaing you have to take the cas out, realy don't want to touch that at this stage as all the timing marks and stuff has to be right , I'm still thinking about what I'm going to do, i may ask a mechanic to do it for me ,even tho i hate paying people to do stuff for me ,just have to see where the cards fall ,at the moment trying not to think to much about it casue it stresses me out haha, cheers for the advice tho -

well totaly destroyed this week end, :sob: pretty much everything ive done on the engine so far ,that is totaling 5-6 weekends of hard out work has been for nothing ,and will have to be done again, pretty pissed about the whole thing, realy woundering now if this hard work is going to be worth it at all, pretty much had the engine finsihed or so i thought, got it off the engine stand ,and onto a pallet , spent several hours seting it up for a start up,this included setting up the radiator ,connecting hoses, filling the radi with water, setting up the computer and the million wires that comes off it, attaching engine looms filling engine with oil fitting air flow meter and air filter fitting fly wheel and starter motor setting up a oil pressure light fitting air piping with clamps and blow off valve for test, etc all took hours to set up, went to check if the oil was full and found that it was way over full?? checked again still way over full??? drained some out checked again, still over full? very strange took along long time to work out what was going on,drained nearly all the oil out ,complete waste of fresh oil, check again, still over full!!!!!!!!! WTF WAS STARTING TO GET VERY ANOYED AT THIS STAGE, drained all the oil out completely, check again , empty?????? checked again full!@@!!!!!!!!!!!!!! long story short , what i suspect thats happened:::: when sealing on the lower oil pan, the sealer probably has squeased out in a big blob right where the dip stick tube ends,so when the dip stick goes in to the tube its actuly rubing on the sealer ,which is covered in oil so when its pulled out it gives a random strange reading, havnt pulled the sump off yet but thats what i susspect has happen, and can actulay feel the sealer when sliding the dip stick very slowly, so thats drama number 1, pretty much have to pull the sump off and hopefully i can get to the area that has sealer every where that is if thats the problem, next there is a oil leak from the front cover actualy there is 3 points that are leaking and ironicly the frnt cover was the one thing i didnt pull off,and seal ,heres where the big drama comes in, to remove the front cover properly, the engine has to be pretty much stripped this includes the rocker cover , that i had problems with before and some how i managed to get it to seal well this time and realy don't want to have to pull it off again, the sump ,which would have to come off any way and not a big deal but that leads to the secondary sump also has to come off again i have already taken that off and resealed it so another waste of time , and then pretty much everything on the top of the engine, exhuast manifolds injection mani folds all the water piping ,the crank angle sensor, timing issues with plulling that out and putting back in, and then the whole head has to come off!!!!!!! all that to get the front cover off to fix some small oil leaks , so all very disapointing stuff on the bright side, the new wiring board i made worked very well so that was a plus and also there were no water leaks also a plus considering how the water pipes are set up on these engines, under the manifolds, also the fuel rail isnt leaking another plus, but all that is pretty much undone if i have to go throught the front cover removal process, grrrrrrrrrr :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: any one want abuy an sr? lol -

also done another small mod,had to make a small hose line to return the water from the turbo into the water pipes on the other side , but since i had already half set up the other side for this it was pretty easy, can see the blue hose on the other side had to be joined to the turbo line... got abit of 5/16 tube ,bend it to shape, flared the ends, and cut down the turbo water pipe to suit, fitted up, dump pipe ,heat painted and wraped in exhaust wrap stuff, with a new 02 sensor and studs -

so bit of bad luck on this one but the turbo is on its last legs ,so will have to find a new one or get a replacement i guess, more money not planned on, any way for the time being it will do for the start up i want to do soon,so a quick clean and assemble any one have a spare t25 garret for me???????????? ??????? also with this turbo one of the studs was snaped off, took alot of mutilation to get the dam thing out ,so left things rather hacked up ;-( -

haha cheers, yeah its a bit slow at times but just a little at a time and things slowly are coming together, planing to get the engine running and sort out any issues with it first be fore it goes back in the car, then looking at seting up the brakes and fuel lines get it all wired up and running in the car properly, still a long way off but progress lately is steady cheers for the interest, -
hahah gota love the fresh parts ,good work mate looks like things are coming together well for you

also because I'm starting the engine out of the car i needed to make something to hold it rather than just let it sitt on the ground, i got my old x member and attached it to a crate, sprayed some white on it just for the hell of it and finally i made a jig up to hold the fuel rail while i worked on the injectors, heard some nasty storys about the sr20 injectors being a pain in the ass, so i was very careful while removing these, the best way to get these out is to remove the injector cap, replace the screws back into the fuel rail , screw them right to the bottom then back them off about 1/2 a turn ,get 2 small flat bladed screw drivers ,insert the tips of the drivers into the small recesses in the sides of the injectots, and use the screws as a sort of levering post, pushing down on the 2 screw drivers with equal pressure, then unwinding the screws about 1-2 turns at a time then levering again ,so on and so on,they come up slowly but surely with out doing any damage,i also used a litle crc to help lossen them, they were fairly tight this one you can see the little slot on the side of the injector thats about it for another week , enjoy -

realy still not sure about this rocker cover,i luckly had a new gasket ,and fitted it to the cover, fitted it back to the engine and torqued the bolts down according to info i found on the net still not sure if it was right guess have to wait and see it it leaks again , on a brighter note,i thought that the engine needed a bit of a finishing touch sorta thing ,so instead of putting the orignal coil pack cover back on i made me own, just a bit of a random flame design that i came up with , cut out of a few mm alloy ,then sanded and polished up,test fitted and bolted on with some cap screws, personaly i think it looks awesum  -

i have decided to start the engine on the ground before it goes back in the car so i can sort out any leaks or problems ,to hard to fix them while in the car, so have looped a hose on the heater end, few more things fitted, knock sensor woring and temp wiring, and a couple more pipes i assembled the plenium to the manifold with new gaskets and new bolts, then attached the manifold to the engine, starting to look like a real engine again can see how tight every thing is under the manifold, but its all connected up and in a tidy way painted a few small brackets matt black to clean them up then added these new rubber grommet and washer things and some cap nuts ,and some more wiring brackets, unfortunatley when i tightened the nuts down i found oil was leaking out from under the rocker cover gasket >| wasnt to happy at all, ended up taking the rocker cover off, which i realllyyy didnt want to do , but none the less it came off, surprisingly it was very clean under there i was realy expecting to see alot of oil gunk and crusty build up but there was hardly any,... -

few more small things ,stripped the intake manifold , was going to try polish this up but it was so very grainy, sanded a test area and tryed polishing it ,but it looked so crap that i gave up on that idea and went with painting it instead, just painted it silver, came up ok i guess, next started working on replacing the water hoses and water pipes ... this end of the water pipe i had to modify, they went around the back of the engine originaly ,so had to chop and change a few bits to make them work with the corolla heater pipes -
congrats mate  good to hear things are going smooth for you ,wish i could say the same on my end ,haaaa, any way awesum work ,a year is a fairly quick time to get to your stage
