  1. hahahaha! Nah I think thats why lenny wanted to sell it... explains the shit idle and everything else he just didn't know what the problem was. Although he did tell me it 'used to go to 9...' :) :( That 4K does hit VTAK (y0) though... :D
  2. Bout 12 grand uleh.
  3. How much would you want for one of those 4K's...? :D Gotta show luke what real motors are! :)
  4. Actually, the gasket could have been fubar I dunno. The head was ripped off in a hurry to get it to the shop before I had to be elsewhere. Will get it back tomorrow and have a look although the head was pretty rooted so maybe it was that. :)
  5. Cracked pistons are stupid! ...that is all
  6. On the upside, just found out that the weber is a 32/36 DFV. ...yay? :D :)
  7. turns out it wasn't the gasket... although it did look a bit rooted in places the main culprit was this! Buggah! Guess my next question will be... how hard is it to change a cam? :)
  8. haha, is that all... well if I get bored I may for no aparent reason attack the mixture screw. ;)
  9. On the topic of exhausts... Whats the deal with crackling on back off? What causes this? My mates gemini does it almost all the time yet my car never has, is it just the tune?
  10. sweetness, did some work at an engine recon place. Will see if they can slot it in before friday! just thought I'd ad a pic for shits and giggles... took this earlier today. ;)
  11. phwoar, cheers dude! Answers all the q's! awesome. Wanted to have it done by the weekend but with the machining guess I'll have to waiiiiit unless I pull some strings ;) . Thanks taz
  12. Found me one answer on the interweb and from a past thread.
  13. I searched a bit and read the FAQ but thought I'd make a newer thread with some questions! I assume its fairly easy to replace due to the pushroddy goodness? However I've never replaced a head gasket. Do I need to set it at TDC (can't see why bar for the valve clearances?) any tricks with the pushrods? Assuming the head isn't warped or visibly rooted is it still worth getting it skimmed? It has been in the red a few times and the oil is nice and watery... ;) (although the car did cost me a bottle of canadian club!) Guess I'll look at the gasket when it comes off and see where it blew out. hope to god its not cracked! Also, once its all put back together... how the hell do I 'clean' the engine? flushing the coolant system is easy enough... but the oil? just buy some cheap oil and run it through with a new filter for a bit? then replace it with quality oil and a new filter? Do I need to use any 'gasket goo' of any sort, I didn't think so but a mate of mine thought so? Thanks all, feel like I've got a few more questions but can't remember em right now! Danno edit: added 1 question
  14. Thanks, thought it'd be obvious... was a bit hidden under shiteload of grease and the verdict isssss... 4K :P Still goes damn well though! Very impressed.
  15. Ok, all... I picked up a KE70 on the weekend and it goes damn well. Finally realised why people spend money on these engines. Thing is, I think it might be a 5k but not positive how to check? I checked the lugs on the head and it has them below 1 and 4 spark plug. But now what? Where is the engine number on the block? Cheers! :P
  16. Damn... '80 and earlier, guess that means my KE misses out. Would have won that show fo' sure! :lock_folder: Will definetly go anyway! Although I don't think my car would reflect well on the corolla community... :lock:
  17. Another cruise before the wet would rock. Dunno where or what though, almost anything would do. Have a cruise, then a bqq and talk shite or something?
  18. you are aware you going to break boxes left right and centre with the torque you're gunna have and a locker? :jamie:
  19. Also, read the turbo 4K-C thread in engine conversions. Shitload of good info in there!
  20. Can't really see the need tbh Adam. I don't really wanna waste my time popping them as I can't afford the stupid car to be off the road, but it may happen inadvertantly. Corolla daily driver ftw! :jamie: Matty, are you going to run your beast down the quarter? Should be interesting :)
  21. Far out, go the 4K! :jamie: Just don't pop it, I'll let you know about the box when I get shite sorted! :)
  22. Stock looking, yes. Stock sounding... hell no :lolcry: But definetly agree with the ricers, I don't understand the facination of shiny things? BTW, Imnost. were you looking for a 5spd ke70 box? might have a spare soon...
  23. Or the riciest looking one... :y: Sleepers ftw! :)
  24. Nothing to add really, so sorry but... the astron is a fairly farken heavy motor isn't it? :hammer: Pretty grunty though... guess your mate doesn't wanna tackle corners?
