Go Go dodgyness! Went and saw the advertised 4k-t, boy was I in for a suprise. He told me it was a backyard setup, but my backyard things are normally somewhat more refined. I'll let the pics speak. Dodgey brutha's are us! He wanted $500... :) I mean it is salvageable, but I don't think I can justify it unless he drops his price by atleast another $200. Turbo was a Mitsu TC06-11, from a Starion I believe or possibly an AC Cordia. Not sure what they're worth? And the SU was a 1.75". Everything else was pretty dodge, claimed the engine was used in an rally car which sorta might explain the on the fly fixes. Oil feed was sorta welded/riveted into the sump or so it appeared couldn't see clearly. If the pics are too much then I'll link them....!

righto, well I defo need to find more out. But from my understanding the engine has been used, but not for yonks. So it should have the correct needle I hope. Hoping the electrical side is fine too! Will see it later this week and let ya's know, with pictures hopefully! Thanks all

hmm, the most popular setups seem to be blow through though, and well... this isn't :lolcry: . However, for $600 I'm pretty tempted to give it a bash. With a spare box and spare pistons if I melt them theres a sort of safety net. Anyway, my next step will be to find more accurate details out about said motor. Sleeper corolla's ftw! Cheers for your help so far, and I did go over and read it last night... and got the 'gist' if you will, but I'll get there! gotta re-read the fuel system stuff and electric stuff again as thats got me a bit confused :) I need a new clutch for my car as it is, so If I buy this engine + gearbox then I save $120! ;) This might be more for rolla_boy as he is running a suck through set up, but... how hard was the tuning aspect of it? And now I'm rambling... :)

I'm aware there wasn't a factory turbo :) . But when he was talking bout 100k's an hour so I wasn't sure whether the turbo was from a 'rally' car or the engine had been used for rally of some sort. But if you say regs won't allow it, then I guess there that goes. I might go recon the engine and take pictures and get you guys to share the info. I'll take a bit of a mech guru mate with me. But it's going to have to wait til the weekend. If I went the turbo route, would I be killing boxes, diffs and axles left right and centre? Even without real 'spirited' driving? Also, what about clutches? can't see an OEM cutting it, how bout a 40% extra clamp load? Sorry for the noob questions all!

sup turbo guru's, a 4K-T has just come up for sale and I'm seriously considering buying it. However, couple of questions! The dude's pretty vague, and I haven't seen the engine yet (only rang today) buuuut he says its 'ex rally' but wasn't sure if he was talking about the engine or turbo. He said its some mitsubishi turbo, draw through SU setup. With manifolds and everything. spare 4 speed gearbox, and .40 thou pistons + rings but not installed. He says he bought it ages ago, but never used it. Clincher... he wants $600 for it. Is it worth it? I was just going to run 6psi... and maybe run 10 when it gets nice and cold :) What would I need to do to my dizzie and the like? Sorry for the ramblings, I'm not too aware of boosted 4K's... I'll re read this thread a couple of times, but if you could answer these questions or guide me in the slightest I'd be eternally grateful :) Danno

Ah, so there is a thread there too... I posted pretty much the same thing as johnny t but in the f/s section :P Not sure whats required to make the ke55 box fit a ke70 but if it can be done and its a 5 spd I'm interested too. Also if they come with any boltons as such for a nugget 4k would be nice, extractors/carb/cam etc. I'd be interested. Cheers Adam Danno

Ahoy all, my clutch is pretty much dead in my brick. I've sourced another and should be here in 10 days or something. I was planning on doing the work myself, I've got some Automotive experience (cert 1 vet course etc) and no doubt I could do it on a hoist and with the tools we had, but all I have is a few things around home ramps/axle stands. Can probably borrow/rent a torque wrench. Say I bribed some people to give me a hand, how long would it take? Any tricks? Box drops straight out with no farken around with engine mounts?
