  1. Hi,am wanting to know if the rear housing (the extension that holds the gearstick linkages) of a KE70 4 spd gearbox is removeable and can have a shorter housing from another (KE35 or KE55 or similiar) box fitted to replace it thus moving the gearstick forward without having to change the whole box for something else? Its a rather urgent question so hope someone can help, thanks,Pete

  5. Well,3rd time around, some may have seen I advertised a KE70 for a bloke in another area, well,I ended up buying it from him myself,$200. Think I paid too much really as it has 210,000k's,auto,a/c,interior is clean, boot, petrol flap and wheel arches are all rusted as per usual for a KE70 BUT it had 3 doors missing, boot lid missing, bonnet missing, damaged guard drivers side and no grill. Well,Ive got into it over the last 2 days and cleaned it up pretty well,a/c switch is missing but everything else seems ok at present. Raided the car at pick a part kilsyth and got all the panels I needed so that added $300 to the purchase price, they are all fitted up now but still missing a drivers window and winder mechanisms for drivers door and rear door drivers side (can anyone help). Spent today checking out the a/c and fixing rust, put power to the a/c and it still works and was even cold, then attacked the rear wheel arch drivers side, flared it out mildly and it collapsed from rust,as I expected it too,cut out the rubbish and replaced with new steel and welded it all up,looks good now, inside guard and outer, only a mild flare but easy to extend it now if I want to by just welding a single thickness steel lip to the new edge. Cleaned up around the fuel flap, its a mess, not sure yet how to attack it,have a couple of ideas and have to do the flare on the passenger side, then the boot edges and I want to remove the key lock and fit a solenoid to the boot lock, then I'm done.Haven't decided about paint yet, want to try and get it clean and on rego, then things will be easier to do for me! Pics are a hassle but will try to get some up when I remember..
  6. Hi all, I posted this over in WTB but I thought I'd see if anyone here can help me. Restoring my car after an unfortunate run-in with a tree. I'm basically after everything forward of the radiator. If anyone could put me in contact with someone that would be much appreciated. I'm in eastern suburbs Victoria but willing to travel a bit. Cheers Jackson
  7. Hey guys, Just wanting to get some advice regarding using velocity stacks on a 4age, whether or not this is legal/engineerable? (just running the stacks, not inside plenum) on an 4age 20v blacktop going in a ke55. (located vic) Just trying to do all my research before buying parts and before talking to an engineer. i know you have to keep all emissions gear with the engine conversion and i know i read somewhere you can have pod filter or cai but not both. Just trying to figure out what area velocity stacks fall into? Cheers

  10. Just a quick question about the tailshaft on a 4k and 4 speed combination! How far should the shoulder on the front yoke of the tailshaft be slid into the metal collar on the back of the gearbox? Asking because I am shortening a tailshaft and using it on a different project with a 4k/4spd combination and I'm measuring up for the cut and shut of the shaft.Thanks,Pete.
  11. Hope this is OK,just putting it here for futher exposure Hi all, have an add in WTB for a ke70 door, please read and help if you can, needed urgently
  12. On a ke70,with 4k engine, auto and a/c,where is the switch located to turn the a/c on and of? Looking at a ke70,as above, has a/c but can't find anywhere to turn it on or off to check it although it looks like once upon a time there may have been a switch or something at the far left hand end of the environmental control panel (fan speed, vents etc etc),there is a hole there with nothing in it,any ideas?
  13. Hey guys. Unfortunately life has called for a change, so I am forced to sell my beloved Nissan Silvia project car. I've had the s13 as a dedicated project for the past 4 years and have taken my time with every aspect of it. Whilst still incomplete, no stone has been left unturned and once finished - would be hands down one of the best/cleanest examples of a s13 in the country. As stated, the car has been a project - whilst rolling, it is currently not drivable [yet wouldn't require much work to get it so] For the car to be drivable, the following would need to be done: - remainder of front brakes installed - remainder of fuel // cooling setup installed - rewire the main harness - new fluids throughout and alignment - put back some of the interior The car has remained registered for the past 4 years, despite not being driven. No shortcuts have been taken whatsoever and only the best parts purchased [with reciepts pushing 30grand] Please refer to my build thread on Nissan Silvia. I am looking at moving the entire project as a whole, or mostly a whole - instead of parting out. Depending on the price, certain things can either come or not come with the package/bundle. This car is most likely aimed towards those looking at an all round track car // clean and tough streeter. It will have the ability to perform well in either hill climbs, drift or circuit etc. Pretty much just needs a paintjob and you're laughing. I know E.O.I aren't allowed on here or offers, so I guess I'll put this up for a starting grade. Obviously being that if someone is keen, they may not want certain things, so the price will differ in discussion. For the sake of it; let's say $15,000. Mind you the wheels are worth $3500 alone... Please contact Rone/Josh by: M: 0466 210 560 E: [email protected] or PM me on here. Located in Melbourne. THANKS
  14. Any advice please and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm wiring up the ignition system to a 4k,it is my understanding that they use 12 volt to start and then run on 9 volt through the ballast coil,(12 volt in and 9 volt out to the main coil in run mode). I have 12 volt to the primary of the ballast and then the lead out (I'm assuming its 9 volt) goes to the positive of the main coil. Can anyone suggest as to why, when I put the 12volt to the resistor, with the outlet side connected to the + of the main coil, the resistor gets hot and starts to smoke? I'm assuming either the coil or ballast is faulty but would appreciate any opinions.Thanks.
  15. Hi there, need a bit of wiring info for a TA22 Celica. I'm rebuilding the car that my son tore to pieces and trying to sort out all the things that I didnt remove so therefore don't know where they went. Engine has been swapped to a 2T with twin carbs, extractors and a very hot head and cam to go in later. Issue at the moment is just trying to sort out some loose wires on the drivers side of the engine bay,a black and yellow, think this is oil pressure switch,a single thick black with one of those terminals on the end that part is cut of so you can sort of just slide it under a bolt head,I'm thinking its an earth of some type but would like confirmation and finally two yellow wires, they are together in the loom but have seperate terminals, where too??? Next, originally a single carb, now twins, what color was the wire to the idle solenoids, each of the twins has one but I can't seem to find a power supply for them in the original loom. This will get me started so any help appreciated,thanks....
  16. What sort of gasket should be used between the exhaust manifold flange and the engine pipe flange on a 4k? I bought one from an exhaust shop but it seems to be to thin to me. It has a 65mmOD that fits nicely in the step of the exhaust manifold but it appears to me to be not enough protruding from the face of the flange and when you bolt the 2 pipes together they appear to be almost touching without proper clamping on the gasket. It appears to be made of some sort of composite gasket material impregnated with what look like metal rings and as said, quite thin, maybe between 4-6mm.
  17. Howdy all I have decided to get serious about selling my much loved square. It was hardly getting driven before our bub arrived, and I am pretty certain it's going to get driven even less since she is with us now, so I would like to see if there is any one who might want to take her on and breathe new life into her. Details as I know them; *Registered as a 1971 Type 3 Squareback - currently on non-transferable club rego with the Toyota Car Club. *Awesome shade of yellow *Stock twin carb 1600 engine *Lowered, and had newish KYB shocks in it when I bought it. *BRM style 4 spoke rims, white wall flappers. Front tyres near new, rear tyres probably need replacing depending on your RWC bloke. *SCAT t-bar shifter - makes for really good positive gear shifts *Previous owner put a new set of charcoal carpets through her a few years back - they were LHD carpets so its not perfect around the pedals *Has grey vinyl lowback front seats - the rear seat is standard late type 3 in black vinyl *Flat 4 roof rack - timbers need restaining and one or two are warped and need replacing *Early Type 3 front and rear bumpers fitted with overriders etc. I think they are Flat 4 repro's as well from memory. The chrome on both front and rear bumpers has some patina going on, they are not perfect. *All red USA spec rear tail lights and clear front indicator lenses *Venetians in all 5 rear windows *Mesh sunvisor, chrome front window rain guards, chrome eyelids and cool yellow fog lights (not actually connected) complete the package *Done very few km's in the last few years and has had plenty of money spent on getting the front end sorted (balljoints and steering damper done recently) and also having the carbs rebuilt most recently. Truth be told its probably been over serviced. Trying to be completely honest about her, the following are probably the biggest issues with her: * Despite carb rebuilds and tuning 6 months ago, it is doing it's cough and splutter trick again. Someone who knows what they are doing can probably sort this quickly and easily! I haven't managed to get time to take it to a mechanic for a tune and investigation(Edit - Removed mention of rough running - repairing a broken wire to the RH fuel cut-off solenoid has fixed her up and she is driving a treat again) * Rust is the enemy of the Type 3, and this one is no exception. The worst is around the plenum and around the brake master cylinder whoch are both pretty ugly, but also very normal for a late square. It also has small bubbles in the standard T3 places - top rear corners of the front guards, some in the rear roof, some in the front edge of the bonnet and one lower rear quarter appears to have some cracked bog in it. Floorpans are also not perfect with some pinholes thanks to water leaks associated with the plenum. * Heaters not connected. This was due to originally having extractors. Exhaust is now standard and I believe there isn't much work in getting it all installed from where its at now. As a side note I still own the stainless extractors and exhaust so that will come with it. * Gearbox is pretty damned noisy - a spare gearbox came with it when I bought it, and you can have that if you want it. It has been sitting outside under some plastic so may not be flash at this point in time. In all its a gorgeous looking fun classic cruiser. It gets so much attention on the road it is unbelievable. She even won the "Shannons Choice" award at jambo this year which surprised the shit out of me. Price - $8,000 ono. Honestly hard to put a price on it as I am far too emotionally attached to her, but I think this is probably fair given everything she comes with. Happy to include the few spares I have and a couple of eskies at this price too. If someone wanted to do a swap on an extremely clean 4AGE powered AE71 or AE86 I would also be interested in having that discussion - though not expecting the equation will work out 1:1 - nor do I expect the owners of those cars to want this!! Recent photos that probably flatter her some what! Lots more photos here: https://picasaweb.google.com/113432889999220868273/VeronicaTheType3Squareback Contact Details: Adam Laws [email protected] 0413 001 666 Car is in Eltham North, Victoria, if you want to come for a look.

  21. 1989 Nissan Skyline Silhouette, Series 3 RB30, 3.0L inline 6 cylinder 4spd electric auto 247,xxxkms White over silver two-tone with Silhouette highlights Grey/red silhouette sports interior Standard with the 3.9 Borg Warner LSD Located in Melbourne, Vic A little history to the beast: This car was bought new by my mate’s grandad who passed it onto him for his 18th. He Drove it around for a few years and then parked it up as he was given a company car. It sat around for about a year and he then sold it to my sister (late 2009) who drove it for about 3 years. She went overseas Christmas last year so passed it onto my brother. I’ve maintained and serviced it since my mate took hold of it back in 2003 and know it like the back of my hand. Being a Silhouette it comes standard with the 3.9 Borg Warner LSD, sports interior and body options. To get it on the road for my sister I did the following: • Monroe inserts fitted to the front end • Front lower balls joints replaced • New pads and discs all round • New handbrake cables (factory new from Nissan) • Rebuilt rear brake callipers • Replaced rear trailing arm bushes (2 per side) • Replaced leaky power steering hoses • New front windscreen • 4* Maxxis tyres Maintenance: • Recondition alternator (bearings, slip rings, bushes, regulator) • New battery • Idle valve replaced • Steering rack bushes and column bush replaced with Nolathane item • Plugs, leads, coolant, oil and filters when required • Auto transmission flush and adjust + replace 1st-2nd shift solenoid In the last 12 months it has had the following: • New PBR brake master cylinder • Rebuild of rear callipers • Replaced front brake lines including making new hard lines • Full brake fluid flush/bleed • Timing belt and tensioner • Water pump • Oil + filter • Replaced radiator with a good condition second hand item and coolant flush • Had new key cut and door lock rebuilt A couple of months ago the water pump started leaking so I replaced that and did the timing belt at the same time. Shortly after the radiator split so I replaced that and the coolant (as you do). Unfortunately last week it appears the timing belt has jumped a tooth. My brothers decided to not fix it this time around and buy something new. As listed above, it has had a decent maintenance history and has been well cared for and definitely not thrashed, all of the owners drive like grandmas! With a few hours work and a little know-how this can be up and running again smoothly. The motor obviously needs the timing reset and the auto is thumping from 1st to 2nd again (very common on this transmission) but is a simple fix. The AC needs new seals and a re-gas too. There are a few scrapes on the body but no major dings or bumps. I will throw in a spare alternator, the old brake callipers, a spare idle valve and any other parts I have lying around for it. Or if you feel adventurous do what I was originally going to do and chuck an RB25 into it and make it a bit of a sleeper. Unfortunately I already have a track car and a bike in pieces so can’t swing it past SWMBO. Selling in as is condition, with no RWC, no Reg Chasing $1500 neg If you want pics (the uploader isnt working for me) or more info please contact me on the following: Stuart Chambers Email: [email protected] Phone: 03 5428 0475 0415 298 248 PS: Please note, i know this is my first post but i've been lurking here for years, just never signed up.
  22. Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone has found a place to get rebuild kits for k50 ke70 gearbox's? I'm in the throws of recoing my one and need new bearings gaskets etc. syncros are fine however. I rang a local bearing shop they said they could match the bearings if i took individual samples to them... but ive heard of kits that supply all i need. in melbourne prefered. Thanks Grant
  23. Hi all, Another question I hope someone can help me with- Discussing the clutch cable for a manual ke70,is there another cable available that has the same or similiar fittings at each end but is longer.Regarding the end fittings,it is more critical that the gearbox end be the same, the pedal end is not as critical. Reason is that I actually have a morris minor with a 4k manual and I am working to connect up the clutch assembly so I need the gearbox end to suit the box but I can fabricate something individual for the pedal. Just a pic or two for interest sake..
