justatoy Posted July 31, 2004 Author Report Posted July 31, 2004 does anyone know were i can get a reco 45 mill sidedrawft webber the webbers i gor with the 5k are stuffed they need a full rebuild and it would prob be cheaper and easyer to get 2 reco webbers :P Quote
irokin Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 *decodes post* Â 45 side drafts?? sounds a bit large to me. Have a look at the 40DCOEs in the forsale section $500 Quote
Redwarf Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 If you buy second hand Webers, you still need them looked at by a professional, due choke sizes, jets etc. New 45's are about $650 each. Second hand aroud $300 each, then rebuild. It would be cheaper to get someone competent to rebuild yours, or at least get a professional opinion that they're rooted. I suggest the Carbtech in Redcliffe, Iain did mine and they're superb. He's not particularly cheap, but the job will be right. I would not hand them to anyone else. Warning: If you don't like spending money, don't play with DCOE Webers..... fuel economy on my 3K is one litre per 8 kms on transport, and one litre per 3kms in competition, and parts aren't real cheap, either. Â P.S: One "B" in Weber. Quote
demuire Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 1 litre per 3 km? Wow. Now THAT's fuel economy! :P How much fuel did you go through for Qld Challenge? I used about 3/4 tank or something, and that included driving to Ipswitch. Â I've heard from several other sources that Iain from Carbtech is the place to go. Quote
irokin Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 man...lucky you don't run 110 avgas...expensive shit ehy...well i guess you work at the airport so that kinda helps... Â Its mind boggling to figure out what the hell the engines doing with all that fuel.... :P Quote
Redwarf Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 I wish I could run AvGas, I can get it cheaper than what I'm paying for Ultimate98. After talking to Iain, he was saying that in the Evo7 they get 1.2km per litre in competition, using $7 per litre Elf Turbomax! I'm not bitching too hard about fuel costs! I used about 35 litres on the Challenge. Â Justatoy, remember, most parts needed are x4 if you have twins, 4 chokes, 4 jets....etc. They really need a dyno once they're on, too. Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 what RON rating is avgas? can you tell a car's running it from the smell (say as badly as lpg)? Quote
Redwarf Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Don't know what the RON rating is, but yes, you can tell by the smell, and it's easy to spot. Got quite a sweet smell to it. Quote
Felix Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 avgas in an efi car??? the lead in avgas would f@$k the O2 sensors in no time. Quote
irokin Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 avgas in an efi car??? the lead in avgas would f@$k the O2 sensors in no time. correctamundo! Quote
irokin Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 what RON rating is avgas? can you tell a car's running it from the smell (say as badly as lpg)? 110 octane is the leaded stuff....It should be fairly expensive because the lead they use is only produced by one company in the world...and its in the UK Quote
irokin Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Now for my 3rd post in a row  Just a warning. don't use any avgas OTHER than the leaded 110. All the other avgases for piston aircraft are down around 70-80 octane Quote
pro_ke Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 back to the burnout comp - i wouldnt bother with a k series corolla, a 265 valiant is the ultimate cheap skid machine... soak some tyres in diesel for a few weeks and you have yourself a trophy winner :P Quote
