While we are discussing bore sizes.

My 5k has got 82mm Gemini pistons in it. I think that would be bordering on the max piston size?

I got my 5K from a 91 model van...with 85K Kilometres on it, and I paid $400:D

I used my 4K flywheel and a 5 speed from a KE70 with a KE55 extension housing so I could bolt it in my KE35, I have not stopped smiling since I put my 5K in, I put it in a year ago...and it has not missed a beat. It's the only K engine I have had that actually has all it's oil in it 3 months later when i go to do an oil change haha

 

Mine has loads more torque than any 4K I have had....although it is also about 200K kilometres and 10-12 years younger than any 4K I have had....but it goes almost as well as my SC 4K's.....The 5K itself is dead standard, so I can't wait to see what happens when I decide to extract a little more out of it :D

I`ve got 83mm JE forgies going into my new race 5k 1580cc,getting the block/blocks i have sonic tested so i`ll let you guys know how thick they are.

or how many hours it takes to crack the bore walls :jamie: i hope it lasts a while for you, that would be a cool unique little 5k

The 5K bottom end is just a 4K isn't it??? They are even stamped 4K

Cranks are the same,but blocks are different in quite a few ways.

and they are stamped 5K

the engine number is 5k, the crank is stamped 4k

Nope they`re cast proud of the crank surface when they`re made. :Þ
