OK, there has been an increasing trend of people peddling their wares outside of the for sale area.

 

From wikipedia

A peddler...also known as a canvasser, solicitor, or monger (with negative connotations since the 16th century), is a traveling vendor of goods.

 

So, traveling outside of the for sale area to sell their goods. It has the potential to ruin perfectly good technical information and fill the thread with for sale garbage where it isn't wanted.

I think that if its relevent than its ok so that a whole thread doesnt get made just to sell the item to the person.although the seller could say if you want check this out then put in the link to their thread.

The idea is to keep technical threads technical and keep the for sale stuff in the for sale area. I'm not trying to stop people selling stuff, just trying to keep it in the appropriate areas.

Does get annoying when your doing a search to a tech question you have and all you get is "Does such and such fit to what what? - Yeah matey it does and your in luck i've just upgraded and so such and such is $xxx." Like for phuck sake, doesn't help much with the question.

well if the question is answered by the person that also happens to mention he has the solution item for sale, i don't see the problem. but thats me, and I'm not going to argue with ben, hes big...
